Nice review - just catching up! I've recently purchased a bottle of HB 10 and planning to take it on holiday next month and seeing how the bottle develops over the course of a fortnight.

Fantastic review, was waiting for "then try this"... I rewatched this and drammed along with you. I'm a bit past the shoulder now and it's an incredible citrus bomb. I'm admiring your ability to articulate the experience. I keep thinking that more expensive whiskys will show themselves better but it's the complexity that actually makes a better whisky harder to read and therefore more rewarding to get to know. Whisky tube has been a great thing in my journey so please keep up the good work.

First! :-) Speaking of whisky friends you haven´t met in person: Please consider coming to Limburg Whisky Fair in Germany (whiskyfair.de, April 25 and 26))! So far we are 15 of Roy´s barflies (him included) meeting there (again). Flights to Frankfurt are typically cheap and the Toyoko Inn*** has rooms for less than 40 pounds per night.

My first first 😁. Cheers doc. Hey I'd love to buddy but as someone who's self employed and works every weekend, I have to be very choosey about when I can take time off work. I'm already losing work in April so unfortunately can't afford to take any more off. Sounds like it'll be great though. I wish all of you a great time.

I literally couldn't go even if I wanted to. I've been holding off renewing my passport until I found out what was going to happen with them post brexit. I didn't see the point of throwing around £100 (that I could be spending on whisky!) at a new one, then finding out it's no longer valid and I'd just need another new one. So I'm trapped here at the moment! Have drinks for me while you are there Doc.

@@thewhiskybowman yeah it's a curse isn't it! It went so long and then just like that...it's done but now, as you've said, we have to wait around longer wondering where we stand re: travel, etc.

@@thewhiskybowman We will! £100 for a passport? That is insane! Better spend it on whisky. Cheers, Doc

Nice review, interested in this one, I have the Springbank 10 but not tried the Hazelburn yet. On oxidation of Whisky, I've was given an opened bottle of BNJ 8yr last week that had been opened for over 10 years and forgotten. I did try BNJ in 2005 quite an extreme example but from memory, surprisingly I don't think it was spoiled in anyway, may have changed profile slightly. Cheers Kev
@WhiskeyNovice4 жыл бұрын
Cheers Kevin. Yeah I'm actually a firm believer in letting whisky oxidate in the bottle. I know the inert gas sprays are available to pretty much prevent them from changing, but you would never get to fully enjoy the subtle changes which happen as the bottle drains. It makes for an interesting experiment 😁.
@kevinbryant23674 жыл бұрын
Absolutely agree, It's great seeing how the profile changes from the neck down once a bit of air gets in there.

You've got me checking out Whisky Whims now. (Like I'm not spending enough time on youtube as it is!) I must have been getting him mixed up with someone else as I have seen him popping up but I always thought he was American, and he was more about American whisky, so I never actually checked him out before. I was genuinely surprised when you said he is a fellow Scot!
@WhiskeyNovice4 жыл бұрын
😄😄 Stuart's a good lad. He has genuinely introduced me to sum crackin' whiskies. None of which were American btw. He tends to take quite a dim view on American whisky. The words "nail" and "varnish" come up quite a lot 😆
