of course in the end comes down to preference, but Arran hast a bit of a more difficult start if you look at the tradition and experience springbank can look back at. Hazelburn has got to win taste wise, but it's also substantially more expensive and harder to get. Arran 10 is for it's price probably one of the best budget whiskies because it punches far beyond it's weight. It puts older whiskies from less renowned distilleries to shame.

Hello my friend, very good review and excellent comparative tasting as you always have us used to 🥃🥃 The Arran 10 is the most classic and a huge Whiskey, the Hazel I don't have it, I don't know it, it doesn't arrive here in Argentina, cheers my friend 🥃🥃
@olafmolenveld4985 Жыл бұрын
Over here in the Netherlands the Arran 10 is less than half of the price of the Hazelburn. Makes the decision somewhat easier ;)

Such a shame about Hazelburn availability, so glad you can get plenty of Arran...thanks for dropping by my friend...😜🥃

I always feel that despite being from an island, Arran has an archetypal Speyside character, but I agree, both Arran and HB are magnificent drams. Hopefully will be able to say hello to you next week!

A great battle Alan! I struggle to choose a winner as well. They are always on my radar and I have a bottle of both open and I enjoy them regularly. Pushed to choose, side by side I would choose Arran too. The exotic fruits make the difference. Thanks 🙏 and kindest regards as always. Ciao 👋 S.

Hazelburn has been unobtainium in my part of the world (Australia) for some time so moot point. I have tried both and the Glencaddam 10 and they are all great IMHO. All the Springbank is in Japan. 😂

Hi Allan. Two realy nice drams. To me Arran 10 has always been the apple/pineapple dram and the hazelburn 10 the new baked break dram. Privewise the hazelburn 10 has creapt up to be about 50% more expensive than Arran 10here in Denmark unfortunately. Even though the two drams is similar spec wise , tastewise they are quite different. Not to say one is better than the other, just different.

Personally I'd chose HB 10. Still has that Springbank character that I love. Problem in the U.S. is the price. I can get Arran 10 for $50-$60. HB if you can find it is over $100-$150. Just insane. All SB, HB and Longrow are just pricing normal people out of the market.

Good idea for a comparison. Unfortunately Hazelburn 10 is $120usd currently so would go for the $60 Arran 10. Haven't had a Hazelburn 10 in several years but many folks are saying the recent ones are quite good. Cheers Alan

both excellent Tim...shame about the price and availability in your neck of the woods, luckily we can pick them both up here for around the same money....cheers Tim

I think you're being generous, the Arran 10 for me is about $45. But interestingly Alan's reply mentions "availability" even though that's not what you said at all. Hazelburn is not every shop around, but it's still widely available within a reasonable distance of a metropolitan area.
@DonnerPassWhisky Жыл бұрын
@@sugarkitty4777 Wow that's a great price. Used to be $48 here then in the summer of 2022 everything went up $25-35 at least.

Interesting confrontation. I have the greatest respect for Arran distillery - they do a wonderful job. However, does any one also think that Arran 10yo is a tad unidimensional, i.e., vanilla everywhere making you struggle for the other, rather flimsy, notes, particularly on the palate? Hazelburn hands down.
@thewhiskyfriend Жыл бұрын
I think i know what you mean, however for me it delivers more ..yes vanila bou its malty, its exotic tropical fruit...its lovely stuff and this is a battle that i could choose any on any given day...thanks for watchin my friend...

I haven't tried them side-by-side, but have many dreams of each and my choice is Hazelburn ten. However, in Canadian dollars the Arran is 68,and Hazelburn was 100 pre-COVID. Haven't seena Hazelburn here since December 2019.
@thewhiskyfriend Жыл бұрын
the Hazelburn seems to be either hard to find or much more expensive, which is a real shame as there both excellent...both in the same price point here in the UK....Thanks for watching my friend

Alan, I say this with respect, but why do you need to show off so many bottles of unopened bottles of whisky on your shelves? It's not very necessary, is it? It disappoints me & many others I communicate with & is unbelievably off-putting! Would you please rethink this presentation style of yours? It comes over as arrogance & displays a contempt for those of us who are in the vast majority of whisky appreciators. Think I'll leave it there for now ok. Doon the hatch buddy.
