This exact model is $65 here in the Netherlands. It is the same the other way around though, premium tool brands from the U.S.A are basically twice as expensive here.

Oh man, I almost wish I didn't know. That is about half the price and also squarely in line with Knipex territory. That is a good point on American brands crossing over. At the $65 mark, I think these would do quite well Guess it is the same struggle for all of us, just on different fronts.

Can you show the single handed adjustment? Seems like you mention it but use both hands

Great overview. 👍 I have the Gedore version and like them a lot. In your opinion, how do the Hazet’s in general compare to those? At the current price, I cannot really afford them and will likely wait. But they do indeed look pretty amazing. Thanks!
@lonestarmopars
@lonestarmopars 2 ай бұрын
Thanks. The Gedore are great. I like both of the Gedore handles, the Hazet is almost a hybrid of the two. In terms of performance, I've got no complaints with either. The big selling point with the Hazet design is the one handed adjustment. You can sort of try that out for a lower price by getting a pair of their universal pliers. Overall, you can't go wrong with either, but given the steep price jump to Hazet, the Gedore are hard to find a fault with...Best strategy is to see if you can sang a pair of the Hazet, in a different size, on a big sale. Gedore only has 7" and 10" offerings, so assuming you got the 10" iteration, you can keep tabs on the smaller Hazet offerings. Good luck!

@@lonestarmopars Thanks, Lance. I really value your opinion and expertise. And as a professional with many years of experience in the field, you use a lot of these tools almost daily. You made excellent points of comparisons between those two. And yes, I do have the 10” iteration of the Gedore’s, so I would probably pick up the 7” Hazets first. Two things I like off the bat… the one-handed adjustment which can be critical under harder to reach situations where you can only really use one hand. And second, I can just tell I would love the grips. To ‘me’, Snap-on grips feel the best for plier related tools and the Hazet grips almost looks like it would be of similar style and comfort. If I pick up a pair of the Hazet’s, I’ll certainly let you know my impression. Thanks again for your assessment/recommendations and for some of the very best tool reviews on KZbin. Your style is unique, intelligent and enjoyable. I wish your channel blew-up to better reward you for your efforts. *side note, though I and most of my immediate family is originally from back east, my Mother was actually born down in Palo Pinto county. ;)
@lonestarmopars
@lonestarmopars 2 ай бұрын
No problem. I figured you would start with the 10" iteration...hard to not do that when they are priced so close on most brands and you have a bigger range. That said, the 7" is really nice for a pliers wrench imo. Yep, that adjustment is unique to Hazet and their biggest selling point. The grips are similar to Snap-On, but I'd say not as soft. If you took a Snap-On and crossed it with the JC (Black and Blue) Gedore grip, you would be pretty close. Thanks again for the kind words...I seem to cater to more of a niche audience, and just like tools, I'd rather have quality than quantity. Nice! That is a good part of the state...still uncorrupted from population swells. I've been thru a lot of the small towns down that way. Dublin, just south of there, had Dublin Dr. Pepper. It was regular Dr. Pepper, but the bottler used real cane sugar. It was a pretty big deal. I think I have an old glass 6 pack on wood shelves in the shop actually, lol. And, I'm sure you know, but Palo Pinto county is home to Possum Kingdom, which should trigger a riff from The Toadies.

Would be a nice option. Vice-Grips usually mar the finish up pretty bad on a fastener...that said, they are also usually right before the fastener gets torched, lol. Could still be a nice touch for safety on larger sizes.

i only found out these existed a few days ago, but sadly cannot buy them from the site i get my tools from yet. they look so sweet. i only buy chrome pliers as anything polished or atramentized will rust, so i have not got hazets 'water pump' pliers. i am waiting for my hazet 3/8" set (880-2) to arrive, i got it for a really good price, $280 AUD ($180US) coming from Japan of all places. thanks for the videos as always, i really appreciate the 'free-lance' (pun intended) type of videos. i hate advertisements in all forms (edit: that being said, i would still be here watching if you did decide to do the whole affiliate thing)

Yeah, I believe they were officially announced at a tool fair a few weeks ago. Wera and Hazet were the big unveilings at this one. They really are a well executed tool...I wouldn't mind a bit more color, but from a purely functional stand point, I can't complain...the all black is also, odd as it may seem, a standout color option for a pliers wrench. If anti-seize wasn't sliver, these might stay clean, lol. Fwiw, all of my "fancy" Hazet pliers get dirty, but clean up well and the textured dip ones also sort of develop a brown tinge as they get dirty. Will be interesting to see how these grips do on that front. That said, I do think you will like the feel in hand...very unique. Oh dang, that is a very expensive set to score for that low of a price. Does it have the older ratchet, or updated HP90? I wouldn't think of Japan as having steals on German tools, but I may have to monitor that, lol. Thanks for the pun...yeah, I'm not a fan of anything blatant since it then water down the video, or casts doubt on a review. I'm more apt to value an affiliate link when it comes as an endorsement over time, or casual mention. There are a lot of people just pedaling anything they can get their hands on these days. I sort of prefer the blind adventure, haha. Hopefully you can land these pretty soon.

@@lonestarmopars i do not use social media so finding these things out always takes me longer but i am fine with that. i agree, the hazet logo on the handles would be a sweet upgrade but other than that they look absolutely mint. i usually clean my tools at the end of the day at work, i figure they start the day clean ready to use so they can pay me to clean them up ready for the next day. i can always quote their safety regulations that state tools have to be in a fit for work and in good condition if anyone complains about the 10 mins it takes. yeah i cant wait to try them out eventually. it sure was a great pick up, i believe they all come with the HP ratchets these days despite the stock photo. that set sits around $400AUD, but on the site, things will be ridiculously cheap for no reason. some of the prices i have paid may make you fall over they're that good, one stahlwille tcs set was $1000AUD cheaper than normal for that site. typically the German stuff is coming from Germany or the UK. with the 100s of videos you have done, i cannot imagine people would think you're just trying to push these tools for your own benefit. again, thanks for all you do

Yeah, I have kind of been off Instagram for probably just shy of a year...Actually got on to post this picture and video, lol...haven't gotten to get back on, but need to do so. A lot of people are highly dependent on one front for notifications, so even though videos are 2x a week at 9 AM, if they don't see it on *insert their platform here* they won't really look for it. It is kind of strange, but I know a lot of people say the same thing... That is a killer deal with the updated HP! I've gotten one deal I was happy with off the jungle site and while it wasn't near as big of a savings, I scored the Gedore 1/2" cased set for sub $100. Granted, this was a few years ago now, but that saved me a couple hundred vs everyone else. I've noticed the same on he jungle site...the better prices are almost always coming out of Europe. Yeah, the internet is a strange place. As channels grow, you get more and more people that feel the need to express their opinion in the comment section. And it is almost always something they would never say in person. If I was going to sell out, it would have been a long time ago and I couldn't fit Time Stamps in the description due to all the amazon links like almost every other channel copies and pastes. I'd also be smart enough to push something that wasn't the most expensive tool in the category, lol.

@@lonestarmopars I check the German tool sites every few months and KC Tool is always a good way to find new tools for me. Still yet to make a purchase there though. Not even my love of tools can make me do the whole social media thing lol The jungle is where I get pretty much all my tools for over 2 years now, the site has its own problems with random stock levels and completely random sales that aren't marked as on sale but is worth trawling through the nonsense for sure. I ordered that Hazet set on Thursday night from Japan and got it in Australia at midday, Tuesday. That's a great deal for the Gedore set, I think I have the same one, but hard to tell as you haven't done a video for it. I swapped the ratchet over to the u-10 and sold the u-20 with a different set. The backdrag difference between those ratchets is night and day. I watch your videos more than once so I always get surprised by some of the comments that get added, some people think they are so important and their opinion is of any relevance. I get half tempted to reply to some but figure it's not my place. I think plugging KC Tool is a more 'feels good' moment compared to plugging a gigantic site like Amazon. Honestly I haven't found any other tool people on KZbin of the same calibre as yourself. Some go hard for 6 months and then fall off, some are just boring but most lack any consistency or go straight to making it a business. Haha people would just assume that since the price is high, you would hypothetically make more money I guess.
@lonestarmopars
@lonestarmopars 2 ай бұрын
That is actually really impressive transit time! Yeah, I do believe it is the same set. I will get around to making a video on it eventually. I used the set quite a bit, but then moved the cart it is in and that made it harder to get to, so lazily I go with what is easier to get to, haha. However, that cheap score is what made me like Gedore sockets so well. The last few weeks I've kind of come to re-appreciate Hazet's with the ribbing farther up the body of the socket...I actually wanted to build smaller sets of 3/8" and 1/2" out, but they don't seem to have SAE 6 Point so it got derailed. Oh yeah, the comments are great. Usually someone spouts off and doesn't come back...I actually tell people (quite nicely, haha), that if they didn't like the video, didn't use the time stamps, and don't have anything positive to take away, they can go find something more up their alley. Video length is right there before you even click...not sure how they think clicking is going to shave time off. I could make this video in 8 minutes, but then it doesn't have all the info, history, and comparisons I'd want...I make what I would actually watch and I'd want to hear that they had never had one, what sets it apart, the new grips, all that. Yeah, I think the consistency is underappreciated from any channel. It isn't hard to make videos, but it is time consuming (especially with slow internet for uploading). If I scale back, it is because I'm insanely busy. I always see other channels say the same, but then they are always on other social media platforms, which clearly shows ample free time, lol. Outside of so many companies using social media for news and giveaways, you aren't missing much.

@lonestarmopars
@lonestarmopars 2 ай бұрын
Sorry, that is why I have the Time Stamps. It is definitely way out there price wise, at least here in the US. I think a lot of people would try it out at a more competitive price, especially if they were adding a missing size to their collection, or doubling up on their most used. I think they would have a window of $10-30 where someone who was into tools and interested in trying/comparing *might* move up to, but with so many options available half the price, it is a tough sell. Outside of a big sale, I think the best chance for lower prices is if they do well back in Europe and a higher production rate could drop prices for everyone. They are really nice though.
