If its in the game, and known, than it is not cheating. I think Riot is not an indie company, and can instantly fix it if they want to. Edit: If he has done it multiple times, than clearly its in the game for a long time. And if it is really a bug and an exploit, Riot has many many different ways of dealing with this. So either do something, or its legal. Period.

All I'm going to say, if they can't fix the bug due to priority. Fair point. What about disabling Hextech dragon like how they did with Chemtech till they finally fix it to avoid this type of abuse? And let's assume that it's hard to that without breaking anything else. Riot can just announce either from the client or social media that bug abusing anything related Hextech gates being teleported into blue side fountain will result in a punishment. I do see the understanding of the players fault for abusing it, but Riot didn't draw the line on it, so it's like within a gray area. Where if Riot do punish this guy, he can just appeal and said no one said it was bannable, since other bug like Poppy and Kayn hitting everyone with their abilities globally was given a warning whoever abused it will be punished, but this Hextech bug wasn't categorized in the same area since there was no announcement that is similar. So in the end, he appeals with that reasoning, punishment will get lifted. Riot has to do something here, either from fixing, disabling or announcing it. Cause players will always try to do something that gives them the advantage until Riot says "hey that's bannable". In the end they did fix it, but they need to start taking action. If fixing isn't the available option at the moment, try to do something like disabling/announcement.

If someone was openly exploiting, gaining an advantage and obviously knows the consequences why would they admit to it? Spear shot obviously doesn't seem to care that he is making the game extremely unfun by living in scenarios where he shouldn't, by preforming an action in the game to take him to safety when the design is obviously not intended to do that. I think the only way you can really teach people a life long lesson in these scenarios is by punishing them with a ban, and riot should decide if someone doing it for 7 months is worthy of a perma.

I think the argument has merit but ultimately it should be up to Riot to address the issue. For example, animation cancelling with Riven was considered a bug until it was declared otherwise, and at this point is arguably factored into the balancing of the champion itself. While this is a more egregious example of a bug being exploited, I believe that we should follow Mortdog's philosophy on bug abuse via TFT. His definition of exploiting is doing something that you would not be able to do by playing the game normally. Now what would that constitute? There was a bug that if you put a specific champion on your bench and then spammed it with a remover, the remover would pop off and eventually make it invincible and do insane damage. There was another instance where you could duplicate items. These were achieved using extremely convoluted methods that would not REALISTICALLY be achieved in a normal game. However, bugs that you could reasonably see occurring in the course of a person playing a game were fair to utilize. It's up to Riot to patch these out or address them directly, and it's the least that they could do. It's disingenuous to say that this bug doesn't provide an INSANE advantage in terms of tempo and escape, as well as being able to backdoor in some situations, but there were so many gamebreaking bugs like this that weren't bannable, yet recreatable for similar reasons, like the invisible Nunu bug that was in the game for like a YEAR.

I highly doubt this gives him an advantage at all and even if it did he is at a major disadvantage since he is streaming and people can ghost him. This situation can also only happen in a extremely small number of games and will give you an advantage in even less games. He isn't using scripts so he isn't cheating in my book, you can hate Riot for having a buggy game.

It's simple. The point of the hexgate is to transport a champion to a specific point to point location. Anything more than that is called an exploit. Calling it a feature but only limited to a couple of champions is simply idiotic. A feature is supposed to be open for everyone but in this case, it's not. Wake up

Never could understand why they would ever ban anyone for knowingly using an exploit that they are too monkey brained to address and fix. If a team uses a loophole in a professional game of football, basketball, baseball, etc... are they all banned for life? No. Normally the comity reviews the specific thing, and if they deem it wrong, they change it. Riot should follow suit. Fix the game and save the bans for the actual cheaters.

Riot own's the responsibility of making sure the game they own is working the way they want it to. The summoners code is not law, it's Riots rules. If we're going to be reasonable, we can say that Spearshot is indeed cheating according to Riots rules. I don't think it's reasonable to think this is intended if we are to use good faith arguments here. Ethically it's a bad look for Spearshot but, the responsibility falls entirely on Riot imo. They own everything in regard to League of Legends including your account. You don't own your account, they do. They decide what happens and if they choose to not make a decision it's on them especially given the amount of time that has passed while this has been known about. They either ban him or fix the bug. Players will always cheat if they can do so and get an unfair advantage. Does it make it right? No of course not but, there's no way you can leave such bugs in the game and expect everyone is going to "play nice" and not abuse it in some way.

I think its fine as long as its within the game, a great example of this in another game is the wavedash in melee, its technically an exploit but is praised as a difficult technique to pull off. Honestly as long as its in the game the only person at fault is riot if they dont want it in the game, like fix your spaghetti code "small indie company".

my take is that we're not the people who decide on this kinda stuff, riot is. If they think it's a problem, they'll ban people abusing it and fix it, as they have in the past. It's not up to the players to take up this conversation and debate about it, both sides are valid in my opinion, but until they take a stance, even just make a simple twitter post on the matter. As far as bugs are concerned, even simple animation cancelling, like using renata E + R together to make her R animation look off, is a bug. If you want to get this pedantic about it, then the conversation will never end. Riot is obviously okay with animation cancelling, and they're fine with many other bugs.

It's a clear bug abuse. It's not in the game's intent for that interaction to exist. So yes, he is cheating, but he shouldn't be punished because this is caused by Riot and they should fix it, however the idea that this is not a cheat only comes from fanboys or other social climbers defending this sort of behavior.
