Haz man, seriously love what you're doing here and am so interested to hear you talk more in depth on things you touch on during your streams. I don't know how it starts or why it happens, but there is a genuine comradery amongst gamers that is just.. There. And the vast majority of us see what's happening in the industry and we can also see when 'fake' things are being injected into this genre trying to manipulate it, control it and tell us the gamers here that; no serious, that's a real apple when it's really just a fake, boring plastic imitation. Like WTF? True gamers are a different breed. We can smell when something is rotten, we can tell when something is out of place and we can tell when people are trying to inject their fakey selves into an industry thinking they can control it. I'm glad to hear that others you have interacted with in your career have started coming forward to you and sharing their like situations. That is awesome! Make sure to let them know that we appreciate it as well and to keep their heads up and keep carrying that torch making awesome content and we'll be right there supporting them. And you keep being a Legend dude!

As a gamer and fan of yours.. I also have to push that since we do contribute to the industry in some way. Good games typically see positive outcomes and financial success. While bad games or poorly thought out games tend to become financial flops and do not do enough to satisfy *Our* preference as gamers. I feel its also our duty to be aware of how we as the consumer/gamers can affect the industry. *Voting with our wallets has shown Ubisoft and even Playstation that we are not going to buy whatever it is they want to sell*

I am so ready for merit, fearless creativity, and genuinely great ideas and writing to be given a place in our world again. I believe we've been in a cultural dark age the last decade (with some outstanding exceptions). I am also very tired of hearing how companies blame consumers for their failures. Even in situations where the product isn't centered around an agenda, companies have really lost touch with, and even hate, the people who buy their stuff. How tragic! I do vote with my wallet and my viewership, and I can only hope that the industries will eventually correct course.

Its one of the reasons why I dont really like games like Far Cry 6, Dead Island 2, Saints Row, Just Cause... Most characters in these game are just super stereotyped, over the top, trying to be extra funny which just turns out into mostly a cringe fest, overblown world, unbeliavable writing.... I have a hard time connecting to anything in these games. I can't see myself anywhere in those games. Like, nobody does things like that IRL in that clip at the start. This is the type of characters you see on the board in a meeting room and everyone has a good laugh and you leave it there, but now you got Timmy in the back saying "we will really do it though". Sigh...

Does it come back to conflict avoidance and job security? I just wonder where the adults and leaders are who can listen to and dismiss (without necessarily being dismissive) poor ideas/writing/systems/implementation. And also, if need be, to bring out different and opposing opinions to find an equilibrium that actually reflects what the customer wants or the source material/new ip demands.

Opposing these kinds of people in my experience can be a mine field even for higher ups. I know of one scenario where someone an AD, shut down this person's (a lead) ideas, and then mysteriously the ad ends up in HR and their computer seized and under investigation for sexual harassment.

Dude, I hate these type of characters. Thumbs up. It is terrible writing. To inject characters like those they suit more selfish archetypes. I'm not saying those preferences are bad to inject, but those personalities are terrible support characters. Generally the people who support stories are going to be the ones that support or help drive to goals in real life. Real friends, not abrasive characters that we the players are likely to dislike. Think about what you are teaching. That support characters are not useful, or that they aren't people you want to travel with. Or at worst reinforcing biases.. It's just dumb. Even if they claim to support these causes they aren't selling them well. Write characters that make sense, not shoe horn characters that don't make sense. If I spent hours in a trunk thinking I was going to die or being hung upside down until my nose bled listening to people die, I'd probably not have the attitude like, it's about time. I'd wonder who are the people saving me, and if I was about to die. It's just bull to write them like this. Maybe after they recovered from the trauma they might, but not as soon as they hit the ground. Just bad writing..

So true! The writing quality has been declining rapidly! For example, in Shattered Space DLC - so many characters feel lifeless and boring, and they often act unrealistically given the situation. Take the part where you have to rescue the kidnapped girl from prison. You're trying to save her, but she just says 'Hey, how's it going?' like nothing's wrong. And then when you finally do rescue her, she casually remarks, 'Mmm, the air feels fresher outside.' Who acts and talks like that in a life-or-death situation?! It's not exactly what I'd call convincing. And unfortunately, this is just one of many examples of bad writing in Shattered Space. There are plenty more moments where characters say or do things that feel completely out of place and undermine the tension of the game, ultimately taking you out of the game completely. Rant over. Now, back to Ubisoft. Yeah, they suck too.

I hear what you are saying. That in of itself is a problem. But imagine it was bad, inside the main cutscenes of the game. Not just outside in the world talking to npcs etc, but right in the main story cutscenes you had dialogue like you are saying. That's really the level im talking about. It's should have large portions of budget thrown at it this. Literally every player will see it. So how did it get so overlooked haha. I mean domestic violence? Between 2 lovers? Think about how this scene would be if it was a man punching a woman in the face? Think about suggesting that in the meeting room. 🤔 But somehow it's fine for a gay woman to punch a trans person in the face? Wtf is this anymore lol.

I am actually getting very tired of this. Games are not only being made by incompetent people and coming out mediocre at best, the companies behind them are ok with all of this agenda crap because when the game fails it looks better. They can cry wolf and say they're being harassed by bigots, antitrans and hateful antiwoke gamers (people they have absolutely and knowingly baited), it gives them a better image, they can push back against all complaints this way, if all the gamers only complained about the shitty quality of their games they would have to lower their heads and apologize. So yeah, once you think about it the most transphobic, homophobic, racist people etc are the people making and promoting these games, because they are using all of those groups as decoy and smoke shields, at the same time as giving them visibility in some of the worst games ever made. If I was part of any of those collectives I would be fuming right now.

I 1up you view of the gaming industry! In found my self in recent years turning into a player who skips cutscenes in these western games that's if I play them! I'm mostly playing Japanese games just to avoid the real world BS the western devs tries to push in the games! In recent years there is more quality games I'm having less fun in those games that are deemed amazing and great but reviewers and journalists, maybe it's just me! Some games right now are just over produced and the artistry is lost. Sometimes, a not so complicated story and bland voice acting is actually a relief. At the moment I'm enjoying Solasta: Crown of the Magister. Low budget and simple. But it is actually a lot of fun. Especially the dlc campaigns.
