Whats your opinion so far? This is the exact one i am looking at. They are not so cheap in sweden 😁

Very happy with it so far! The chuck is working great after I took it apart, cleaned and oiled it. I have also removed the cover over the chuck, so now there is only two switches and not three that can stop the lathe. Have also disassembled every rotary handles with scales and yep, cleaned and oiled. It has a little backlash, but nothing more than you just go past zero on return and forward again when operating x-z axis. I would recommend the HBM bench and its not the cheapest alternative here in Norway either, but you get the little extra in precision over the cheapest alternative I think.

@@LUNORTEK i see 😊 well, kind of spooky to see how much of they are in tolerance regardless of the brand it seems. Here its like hbm, holzmann, like same prize, then you have pela, optimum and nova. I dont know, optimum is more expensive, so are the nova. But it can be the same regardless of the prize. I get most for the buck complete with the hbm. The 400 is the one that i looking most on, i would like the 250x550, but the weight is almost doubled , i like the weight of the 400, ok to move by 2 , you can buy your self but thats heavy 🤣 .the 550 is 135kg, thats a little much for 2 guys.

Some people say the frame comes from the same factory, and that could be the case when you see the similarities between the brands. Regarding the size of lathe it is not easy to decide…. Hehe… But in my case I had to choose what I needed and what I had room for. There will always be the times I may need a larger lathe, but there is much money you can spend on tools instead of a large lathe if you dont need a large one... :-)

@@LUNORTEK i see . Well, its only 3k sek more expensive, not so much bigger, but much heavier, the seller said that its much sturdier . But i like the 400 better 😁 have you tried some stainless steel?

Thats not the big difference in price. The weight on the 400 was heavy enough to get over to the bench. 😁 I have so far turned steel, brass and aluminium. The brass and aluminium I had to turn on max speed because of the small diameter. It turned all those metals just fine. Have not tried stainless yet, but I think it will work just fine as long as your tool is good and sharp 😊
