That last scene with Rhaenyra and Alicent had a little bit of ridiculousness in it but it’s also kinda sad. Even if Rhaenyra and Alicent had made peace right then and there, it wouldn’t matter because there’s no way anyone else will want peace. There is no way Aemond will lay down his dragon willingly and nether with Aegon since he’s now all for a war. Daemon most certainly won’t want to keep a single member of team green alive either. At this point, it’s the point of no return and Alicent knows that. She’s dug herself into a hole she can’t get out of now.

Even with her son dead, she would rather there to be peace because she knows that people will die in the thousands in a war and the Targaryens will be left weakened, meaning they won't be able to stop the white walkers in the prophesized war.

For all complaining that this season has many "slow" moments, have you all forgotten how peak GOT was? It built characters over multiple episodes for the "big" shocking moments to actually matter. What ruined the last 2 seasons was the fast pacing and these "big" moments wich had zero emotional impact. You all will have your mega dragon fights but it is important see where these characters are first coming from otherwise the fights will not matter at all.

Those slow moment in Game of Thrones were way more engaging though, the writing and characters were top notch and you were hooked to every moment (up until the later seasons). House of the Dragon seems more interested in showing events, one after the other, in a step by step way to set up a larger spectacle in the future. All the characters feel like they have the same personality, brooding, angry, wants revenge. Like i understand all of their motivations but im not particularly attached to any of them like i was to Dany or Tyrion or Jon or Rob or Arya. Only one i care about is Criston Cole, and I only care about him cause i hate him and want to see him burnt to a crisp. The show is still good but its not the same as Game Of Throne, it feels like a Marvel movie than a classic HBO level show

The show seems to have mimicked this to quite some degree, see season 1 and the speed in which we flew through the various ages of the characters, recastings etc. We are moving from event to event with bits filled in between. That's what this show is. I don't believe in anyway it's trying to be exactly like GoT, because basically everything is different. They know they've got about 4 seasons of material so are hitting those main events, the Dance of the Dragons is not even remotely comparable in written length to ASOIAF.

Its not a 1:1 adaption, theyre trying to open it up and make it more of a drama showing us what really happened. I loved the start of HotD but since the last time skip near the middle-end of season 1 the bad writing has become more apparent. The plot itself is awesome, I just think the execution is a little off the characters feel more like stereotypes meant to fill a role rather than real people. Again, im still enjoying the show but im not gonna gloss over its faults with the excuse of "its based on a history book," if they were really trying to go that route this show would be a documentary and not a drama

Why do people keep acting like GoT was nonstop action? The vast majority of that show was dialogue and slow pacing, that picked up toward the end of each season. There were PLENTY of “nothing happened yet” episodes… but also… let’s stop pretending NOTHING has happened. It’s exhausting that today’s viewers are incapable of letting a story DEVELOP. We’re barely going to be halfway. There are plenty of episodes left in the season to make good on the promise of war. There has to be SOME buildup. Jeez.

They've barely developed rhaena and baela or their relationship with daemon, they've barely developed jace, they keep giving scenes to mysaria even though she's barely in the book at this point and her actress sucks, they're making aemond look lame now with all the brothel scenes, and worst of all they keep making rhaenyra so desperate for peace that they have that stupid scene of her sneaking into kings landing. Why is she so hesitant, lucerys' death should have been enough for her to want war along with all the other stuff the greens did.

Otto had already everything on his mind, so it wouldn’t be poor Alicent who could stop it…. Yep! I wish more people realised this. That conversation was to clear up any confusion between them. They now both know they didn’t order/endorse the death of the kids and now Rhae is more ambitious than ever for the throne as Alicent is furthered along her arc of internal conflict and guilt, knowing that even though she didn’t start this she was still a useful tool in legitimising it and didn’t even try to oppose it.

That's the whole point it wasn't just for the chair or the crown for Rhaenyra she was fighting for the Realm...she knew something was beyond the wall and that her and her descendants needed to be on throne to fight it. The Greens just wanted the chair and crown they were the ones being greedy and contributed heavily to the destrusctruction of House Targaryen and the dragons.

it's not that there's lack of action it's that they keep focusing on the wrong stuff and dragging the story out. They've barely developed rhaena and baela or their relationship with Daemon, they've barely developed Jace, they keep giving scenes to Mysaria even though she's barely in the book at this point and her actress sucks, they're making Aemond look lame now with all the brothel scenes, and worst of all they keep making Rhaenyra so desperate for peace that they have that stupid scene of her sneaking into kings landing.

It's not that the viewers are looking for all out war. GOT is far better than HOTD. The casts are engaging and have charisma. There are some great actors on HOTD no doubt. In GOT, everyone and episodes were powerful. There were more actions, suspense and exciting scenes. Dialogues were better, between Tyrion and Tywin, Tyrion and Varys, Littlefinger and Varys, Cersei and Ned etc. HOD is a good show, but nothing compared to GoT first seasons
