Nice work, thanks for sharing. I’m with you about sport climbing being scary! I just started sport climbing 2 weeks ago... it’s amazing what head space does to the level one can climb haha! I’m considering trying this test out on my channel and maybe trying to correlate the results with possible Boulder grades. There it isn’t a perfect conversion between bouldering and sport climbing but it’ll at least be more applicable to my climbing :)

“There’s other things standing in the way,” seems true of the vast majority of folks taking this test who often far outpace a redpoint grade with test grade. Many are focused on training to overcome technical deficits, when as easily could be pacing, nuance, or often the mental side. As a sport climber who redpoints above the test grade, let me say, bouldering is far more scary, just easier for most to stay practiced at.

Loved this video. So strong! I'm glad you mentioned the idea of doing it again in a year's time. That's my plan. I got 6c+ this week (insert excuses about injury and not climbing due to the pandemic here!) but plan to repeat it in 6 months time to see if I manage to make some gains! Would be interested to see you give it another go in the future.
@hannahmorrisbouldering3 жыл бұрын
It would definitely be so interesting to see progression in the tests! They sound like very valid excuses but that’s a good score regardless. Maybe I’ll revisit it next year and see if I’ve improved with a year of finger-boarding!

Nice job! I’ve always thought of you as super strong. You often ‘hang’ on a crimp for quite a long time while you’re hesitating for your next move. Since you now proved your strength, maybe it’s time to work on the mindset. Not that I am an expert. I recently bought Rock Warrior’s Way to try to learn to control the fear while sport climbing. Haven’t read it yet, but I heard it’s a great book.
@hannahmorrisbouldering3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Val! Will absolutely check that book out - it definitely sounds like it would do me some good to read it! Haha, yeah, my friends always say I’d climb much harder if I actually kept moving on the wall (and didn’t add lots of additional moves in between moves haha). Thanks for watching and commenting! Hope you’re having a lovely weekend.
