The only problem I have with all these Jitterbug / Boogie Woogie dancers is that they are wearing sneakers... they wore real shoes back then.. Leather soles and heels baby.. Now let's see some of that in the 21st Century :)

The big problem is that you are usually dancing on "dance floors", i.e. hard wood floors laid over a cushioning layer of rubber or other shock absorbing material. You cannot dance with "real shoes" (most studio owners will prevent you). Dance shoes are expensive and have a suede lined sole to protect the floor and let you "slide" to a certain extent. Dance shoe choices are pretty limited for "males". Finally, these dances are just murder to your feet, running shoes are "protective". Ciao, L (Maine Ballroom Dancing, USA)
