@randallbanks15896 жыл бұрын
Ok. I guess they might just switch the trains out since the Blue Water runs only once a day, each way, as opposed to the Wolverine. Since the Blue Water leaves at 4 pm, but the Wolverine leaves at just before 1 pm Chicago time, which is an hour later than the Blue Water arrives at Union(if on time), If they have issues with a Wolverine in the early afternoon, instead of delaying the Wolverine, they just use the Blue Water, and then use a different consist for the Blue Water later. They have 3 hours + after that Wolverine leaves to fix another Michigan train. thanks. Also the Blue Water stops in Dowagiac.

There’s no legislation against railroad crossings on high-speed lines in Maryland. McRocket- This is very fast for a Diesel-Electric! Plus the fastest trains in the world (TGV, ICE and Bullet Trains) run on grade/level crossing separated right-of-ways! BIG difference!

Richard Gerlach - thanks. But I did not say the various trains were not different. I just said that as fast as this looks, the fastest trains are over twice as fast. My comment was based on video appearances...not different technologies.

McRocket we know that, and that’s the reason why trains can’t usually travel that fast in the US. It’s because the railways are mostly not grade separated, lack of investment, and politicians against high speed trains. This is very fast for diesel-electric trains on this corridor, with straightened track and grade crossings, in which the highest speed a train, in the US, can travel over grade crossings is 79 mph

Trains that go 100mph.....It just seems so dangerous/illegal...If that train derails you are screwed even more so...Maybe it's just me.

Donald Robbins Not dangerous...not illegal..

Donald Robbins 110 mph is the speed limit for this track
@froztytrainfilms91484 жыл бұрын
Donald Robbins this is late, but those tracks have been upgraded to provide for a smoother ride, straightened out and all. With the addition of Positive Train Control technology, a derailment is pretty unlikely. Train speeds on rails are classified by the class of a track, in which case these tracks are class 6 tracks, allowing 110 mph speeds

In Europe AmTrack (as well as other US RR cies) would be faced with court cases for making to much noise which they would loose! What's the bloody f.ck... use of using the horn every second?

Late comment: its a law that requires engineers to blow a specific horn pattern when it comes near a crossing
@froztytrainfilms91484 жыл бұрын
MrRCGNL Apparently that’s the case in Florida, but I think that quiet zones are the reason more people are dying. Think about it in the long term. Yeah it’s probably not as pleasant to you hearing a train hurtling through town blowing it’s horn, but to railfans like me that’s part of the glory of railfanning. Literally the train horn is a safety mechanism, and taking that away from the engineer means that more people are endangered. One more thing: American train horns are better (so much better) than those European train horns
