(HD) A rather loud Class 319372 screams its way out of Flitwick

Recorded while on board with most of the windows open, a recording made to capture the sound of this rather loud and hellfire Class 319. As I hope the video shows, it was rather loud, with the added bonus of some classic 319 wheelslip at the start. This was one of the loudest Class 319s I have had. Filmed on Sunday the 16th November 2014.

After that, only the 319s converted to 769s like 769456 (previously 319056 and 319456) will remain, the pure unconverted 319s will go

@@technoguyvlogs5449 same, when I saw the class 700, I was wondering how it sounded and it doesn't sound like the class 319, and I was really disappointed, the 319 and 455 are the best trains to ever be used in London and it's really sad we will never ever see these Trains nowadays, both the 319 and 455 will always have a place in my heart and in my opinion both are the greatest trains of all time, as well the last two old school and fun trains, and the noise these machines make is amazing and awesome and incredible and they look and sound angry and they remain you what's they are all about. My only two favourite trains ever. What about you mate how will you remember these Trains when they are gone all together ? .

I used to go to a college near the lines into Blackpool North, meaning that in one of my classes I could hear these units screaming past. I think the linespeed there is 70.

It's certainly bloody hellfire on that line as I rather enjoyed my time on 319369 down it! Can't wait to upload my take on it from Kirkham & Wesham to Preston soon! Although I can't deny that it's not as good as 319372 or 769456 (previously 319056 and 319456)

I'm quite surprised that being a unit built in 1990, doesn't have any kind of rheostatic braking at least. I assume back then BR saw this technology too costly in the case it failed too often? I don't know, it would've been pleasing to hear its thrash all the way till the next station. 😁

@@fearless144 The train is running off overhead wires at 25kV AC, but this is stepped down and rectified to ~1000V DC. Note that this is higher than the 750V DC when on third rail, which is why the 319 accelerates faster on AC. The 750 to 1000V DC is then chopped up by a chopper circuit using PWM which is then fed to the DC motors on the train. So the train draws AC power and converts it to DC for the motors.

The hungarian BVmot/Bvhmot series have almost the same sound. They have a modified version of a GEC engine producing 1755kw of power(4 engines) idk which exact GEC motor it is. Ganz Mavag and GEC did some coop work during the time when Ganz-Mavag made some trains for New Zealand. Ganz leased a plan from GEC Traction Limited for the engine but i dont know which one exactly (The Ganz Mavag trains in New Zealand have the exact same sound as class 313 maybe a bit 317). After said lease they improved upon the design and with the cooperation of ABB they made a completely new much stronger engine upon the GEC license which has a unique sound to it but its still very reminiscent to class 313-317-319. When using the OLE you have the transformer hum to greet you when you board the motor coach (the one with the pantograph), reminding me of the original Tardis hum lol. This hum is of course absent on 3rd rail. The initial noise is the electronic chopper motor control until the motor and gearbox noises take over.

When these trains are on overhead, you can hear the sound of the 50Hz sound from the overhead line. The 50Hz AC is converted to DC with a rectifier, and then chopped into pieces to control the speed of the motor.
