Front Motor Coach Thrash From Eurostar Powercars 3219/3220 Departing Paris and Ebbesfleet. 9/7/14.

As I was sat in Coach 1, thought I would record the noise from the Motor coaches, not seen many videos of these! Here are 3219/3220 departing Paris and Ebbsfleet on the 9/7/14.

@@ag6371 Technically, it is an EMU. What, with the two power cars, and the traction motors being house within all the bogies of the power cars and the bogies closest to the power cars of the nearest passenger carriage. I don't think the power cars work on their own either so it wouldn't be a loco.

I wonder what speed they are doing when they enter the Thames Tunnel from Ebbsfleet and when they exit the other side.

+HSTHoward I don't think line speed. There is a very steep gradient of 1 in 40 exiting the Thames tunnel and climbing over the M25.

When departing Ebbsfleet in the up direction, the Class 395s will only get up to 100mph, maybe 105mph at the best. I can't imagine the Class 373s doing any better than that.

Joe Burgess actually not true, line speed is 140 and I've felt drivers completely back off the power on the uphill run on the Javelins.

Considering that the speed limit is 230km/h (just over 140mph), that's completely incorrect. Also remember the 373s have a top speed of 300km/h (186mph).
