On the morning of October 13th I was out with Joes Junction and a friend of ours in Waynesboro, VA. We took the prerogative and decided to ride over to Staunton to see if the Shanandoah Valley Railroad was running. Sure enough just as we rode up to the office the turn to Harrisonburg was just about to leave.
The DGVR 40, which is a GP9 with an original C&O RS5T, was the power for the turn as we chased it up towards Harrisonburg. We noticed 2/3 of the way up their unorthodox way of serving customers when we saw the train round the corner with the locomotive on the rear.
Just south of Harrisonburg the train stopped to meet an FRA worker, so we went to move on to other things. But regardless we had a great chase with some nice classing power.
Up next, another old warrior, but this time with some newer brethren.
