I want to ask your experts a question ⁉️ Do you think a DRAGLINE with ling boom would work better for removing overburden. I see them on show using HEAVY Dozers, and they "SINK" da Davy You put a large Dozer on wet or frozen "TUNDRA" but it seems over and over they get stuck and just keep doing it. With a dragline it could carry the Tundra to stock piled without getting machines STUCK all the time. When I look at all the money VOLVO puts into this show. Why not copy what big mining operations do. Is it in your expert opinion that a dragline would be too hard to get to these sites. My gosh they make cranes that go to these remove wind turbine sites, they could easily get a big crane to these massive gravel pits That's what the mining sites look like to me, to s of room from drone footage shots in the air. But when you look back at the ( Hoffman's) the first family they showed when Gold Rush started filming this, they had beater equipment, very trashy looking 😊 just asking why they don't use a Dragline. 😊😊

You guys could try a "Discovery Channel" episode where you fake big dramatic "things" and then heroically "fix" them. Unfortunately that stuff gets more views than genuinely technical videos.

Back in 2021, I was contacted by the Gold Rush production company Raw. They were looking for a mechanic to join Fred Lewis’ team. Interviewed with a lady in England who asked a bunch of questions not necessarily related to mechanical ability. Wanted pics of me wrenching and what not. So my claim to fame is, I was almost on Gold Rush. Lol. If they were smart they’d hire you guys!
@rp16457 ай бұрын
Not something related to the Gold Rush show per say, but my experience being contacted by a big producer was, I got married at sea in 1998 on the Grand Princess by the Captain 😊 Princess Cruise lines. This was the biggest cruise ship of that time. 😊 This was an actual marriage at sea, not like other cruise ships did, at Dock by Minister My Marriage certificate is ( Republic of Liberia) I asked the Captain if we could get some wedding pictures on the bridge We were somewhere east of the mid Cuba coast heading south. He was very gracious and welcomed the pictures with him and my bride and best man to bridge wings. Anyway my contact with a Producer was from the ( Oprah) TV show. They wanted people on her show that had been married at sea. The Captain marriage of two people at Sea was a brand new big deal I guess to Hollywood. Like I said, all marriages on cruise ships were when the ship was at the pier side, by a Minister, Princess thought what a great Idea with the biggest cruise ship we will marry people at Sea by the Captain Anyway my wife talked to the producer and she asked the same question like you got. I guess they did not like her answer she told them that I was lover of the sea, and spent 6 years as an engineer on a 45 foot Army tug. My first love growing up was all things boating 😊 and construction equipment. I wanted to be married by a Captain of a ship. My Marriage dream. I guess because my wife and I were not into Hollywood BS all the glamor, and we did not look good enough to be in front of the camera with Oprah. I would have just talked about the Captain and all the technology of this cruise ship NOT talked about marriage fufu girly stuff My wife would have done the same. She runs my Backhoe ( 1978 Dynahoe-190) My baby play toy, plus I own a 1971 SeaGrave both have Detroit Diesel in them That's why I love them. So to keep this long story about me, or sum it up. Me just like you, we got no more calls from the producer. I don't even know if Oprah even did a show on marriage at sea on cruise ships. As far As I know Princess is still the ONLY cruise line that does marriages like this. The Captain sent me a very expensive painting of the Grand Princess sailing through the Bosporus 😊 I think that in Italy???? Not sure. He Retired from Princess Cruise as a Captain but came back and Narrator for line on Alaskan history as their ships sail in Alaska 😊 He was a wonderful person.

They are generally looking for "distinctive" looking people with huge beards or missing teeth to add "character". Nothing in TV is based on actual technical ability or reality. The picture they wanted was of you snarling in grubby overalls.

I love the story of the belt. I’ve had similar experiences where people won’t fix the couple of easy obvious problems because they’re sure it’s something much more complicated. Sometimes you just have to start with the easy stuff and start making the amount of broken stuff smaller.

look at the "engineered" breakdowns i saw one where the, now ill use this term lightly "operator" pulled on a random cord from the cab and suddenly smoke bellowed out the engine and there was a big song and dance but clearly a smoke grenade. they have to spend soo much time and money on the "drama" side because if you spent too much time watching them do their job EVERYONE! would realise they don't know their ear hole from their arse hole. +❤

Diesel keeps for literally ever. Gasoline go to shit in like 4 years maybe sooner withou additives. If you keep water put of the fuel and put of direct sun it will keep for a very long time.
@NBSV15 ай бұрын
As long as it doesn’t start growing algae in it. Diesel keeps much longer, but still not typically going to store for years on end without going bad.

I can't stand watching gold rush its nothing but drama. The whole world ends when they have a break down. The show is so predictable, the scripted BS. The people that don't know lapp up the BS like no tomorrow they think its true.
@rp16457 ай бұрын
YES just look at some of the background Work history on some of these operator One was in a Rock band. I do respect Parker though. His Grandpa was a miner, gave Parker the land to first mine on. Parkers Dad owns a Gravel pit I think. The funny episode was when Parkers dad told him, son don't forget your prestart checks before operating your equipment I think Parker had an issue with one of the machines in that episode. Remember the first Family ( the Hoffman's) when Gold Rush started airing. I would imitate the grandfather the way he had the high pitch voice.

@rp1645 They have to hire newbs who in their right mind would want to go up to the yukon for 6 months. The black flies and mosquitoes the size of birds. All you do is work eat sleep. All you are doing is making money for the mine owner.
@rp16457 ай бұрын
@@Graveltrucking YES the mosquitoes are big as birds. I have heard in Dutch harbor that Eagles will attack small children. I only came up to skagway, that fAr north on a cruise ⚓. I walked around the town instead of taking the Train ride.

Hey @TekamoHD I live in the Yukon and work as a heavy equipment technician. And honestly have been very offended by these series of videos. Living and working in the Yukon is a completely different ball game. Laughing and making fun of some of these videos is deeply offensive. Yes some of the discovery videos are reality TV based. But I'd challenge you guys to come up here in the middle of butt f*** nowhere and try and source parts make appropriate repairs. I have nothing but respect for the mining industry here. And you guys are just shitting all over them. I understand this is made to be funny I just ask you have respect for the people in these videos. Like you'd respect your coworkers. Anyways I highly suggest you try and put a little more professionalism into these videos.
