That had to be the STRANGEST horn i've ever heard! Something is seriously fouled, like a big dead bird is in one of bells of that horn!

Dang, that's a bit creepy. Wouldn't want to hear that in the dead of night. Not to mention the setting suits it perfectly. Really makes that SD40 seem menacing.

Now that's the whistle I remember hearing as a kid. I always thought it was 2 trains coming. The 2nd whistle is my favorite. Not sure what type of whistle it was.

Nice Video. The track looks good, so why so slow? Sharp curve?

@trinityct It's called vapor lock, when moisture get's in these Leslie's it really screws them up.

@Trainguy74701 Their flashers were on as he is a HAZMAT truck and was stopping anyways to clear the track as required by Federal Law. If you notice right at the very end, he stops again to "clear the track."

This one did have a bell, but it was an e-bell, and it was just so quiet compared to the horn that you can't really hear it.

Trinity court studios, that’s just a somewhat fouled nathan dual sandcasted candian tuned k3h, a common Canadian National railways and candian Pacfic railways horn, but does sound kinda scary but it would sound cooler if it was next to the radiator fan, making a rumbling horn sound because of the engine and the wind coming from the fan

I've seen a person riding in the 2nd or 3rd unit of a Pan Am train multiple times. Perhaps the engineer on the lead unit did the first two blasts, and someone in the second unit did the last two. Afterall, the last two horn blasts seem characteristic of the horns on th ex-CN GP40-2W's, which is what the 502 here is.

TH you could say that but pan am is a class 2 railroads, not as busy and as big as Mainline railroads and they are similar to short lines but haul much more loads and go more distances that are longer

Definitely an interesting breed, though I've heard much weirder. Though it's got NOTHING to do with B&M rails, one of the more interesting horns that I got on tape (yes, TAPE) was on a 23Z out in Altoona a few years back, which I'll add as a video response. Though it appears that the horn was just fowled, I thought it had a nice ring to it nonetheless. Oh, and that photo at the end...NIIIIIIIIICE.
