THIS is an really amazing video, thanks for all the details and the professional presentation! I have a 2022 version. Probably unfortunately bought this year. I had a lot of time and rode 10.000 miles within the last 10 weeks. The good thing, it still rides. The bad: I needed starter assistance 3 times, 3-4 times struggling hard to get it running. Very bad in some foreign country. Now It's at the 10.000 miles service. Mentioned the issues also at 5000 miles service. Not sure what the outcome will be. Your video helps a lot in what upgrades may be possible or not. Unfortunately the seller told me there are no major upgrade from 22 to 24 which are necessary for regular drivers. But it seems something is wrong.

Hello Mike, After watching your video on the 2024 PAS and some contemplation I have decided to trade my very reliable 2022 PAS in on a 2024 PAS in the spectacular green. My dealer also gave me the retail to retail trade in deal even though my 2022 had 24 k on it. I take delivery next Saturday the 20th of July. Cant wait. Nice to have the upgrades. Transferred the total VIP package over to the new bike. I had contemplated getting the Low Rider ST but after sitting on one and not veing anywhere as comfortable as the PA I went with the PA. I really love this bike. Now will see if I can put more miles on this one in less time.

Interestingly, my January 2022 had to have the starter clutch replaced. This year, June 2024, it is in the shop to have the alternator changed, it had a magnet come loose and was causing the engine to cut out, so they are replacing the alternator with the 2024 kit at a cost of $4,000AUD (Australia), they are not just fitting a replacement alternator from 2022, it is not available. Sounds like something they should be doing as a recall, not a fix.

Just found out that the Top Case Mounting Bracket (53000800) will not fit all 2024 PAS's to mount a storage box. My bike was at dealer for install and they gave me the HD communication dated 6-26-2024. I called HD because on website it states "will fit my 2024 PAS." Small print below states 2021-2023. They stated that there may be 2024 Specials with it mounted, however, they may not cover with warranty if issue. Frustrating so went with Pazoma. I enjoy your channel.

Hi Mike, as a long time follower of your channel, I learn a great deal from your videos. I am a member of an old H-D club in the UK , the H-DRCGB established in 1949. A few of us are now riding PAS and they are very well suited to our roads, off road too, and in Europe. Interesting to see the upgrades to the 24 includes much that we would like to bolt on to earlier models. Can you tell us more about what we need to do.. a few upgrade vids perhaps. Many thanks for what you do... it keeps many of us on the road. :-)
@MikesMotorbikeChannel6 ай бұрын
Probably won’t see an upgrade video from me since the cost is not worth it in my opinion. The charging system updates require about a $1,000USD, the battery would require about $300USD to $400USD in parts if I recall. And that doesn’t include the battery. I’m not sure I’d go with a bigger battery without the upgraded charging components. However, I may consider putting the ‘23 model wind screen components on my bike. If I do I will certainly film it.

Thank you for the insight into the 2024 PAm. BTW, HD also improved the header pipe after the heat shields kept falling off due to poor welds. I've been waiting 2 months for a replacement header pipe (on backorder in Australia ) and so is the upgraded jiffy stand bracket.

@MikesMotorbikeChannel2 ай бұрын
I don't recall the costs off hand to upgrade to the 2024 battery, you need to replace several parts, I want to say it was perhaps in the $600 to $800 range plus the cost of the battery. I would not bother as a preventative measure but could be an option if you are having battery issues and want the stronger one.

I'm an old Harley rider, had my first one in 1975. Persently street ride a FLHTK, I also trail ride a Kawasaki KLR 650. I was seriously looked into buying a Pan American. The only reason I did NOT buy a Pan American, and that was why I watched your video to see if HD would fix the major dumb ass design of the Pan American, and of course HD did NOT. That is, Having to Remove the Gas Tank to clean the Air Filter. Having to Remove the Gas Tank is just plain STUPID for a bike that's going to be riden on dust trails. Why would they put the air box on the right side like on every HD made in the last 100 years with a cover that snaps off, bolts off easily? Try removing that gas tank out on a dusty trail. Really F'ing dumb!

@MikesMotorbikeChannel7 ай бұрын
Just for the updates? No. Now, let’s say you were having issues with your bike and you just wanted to trade in the hopes getting one not made on a Monday or something…. Or if you trade in for a new bike anyway every few years… Or if you happen get a REALLY good deal on the trade. But for me personally, I don’t trade or swap bikes often. Hey Mike, I have a 2021 PAS and you had mentioned that Harley added a heat shield on the 22's and a heat deflector on the 23's. What are the part numbers and will they fit on my '21? Also, If I decide to install the Screaming eagle exhaust, will it also reduce heat? Thanks in advance.

The heat shields and deflectors both started in 23. I don’t know the part numbers off hand, but you can look them up at www.harley-davidson.com/us/en/shop/c/motorcycle-service-parts I’m not sure if a different exhaust would do much for heat. To be honest, I don’t feel that much heat coming off mine so never really looked into heat reduction mods.

Only the special edition and no more base model makes it obvious they are trying to get the BMW GS people to give the Pan America a whirl. Most of us younger adventure bike riders that are ready for a higher power bike can't afford the special edition Pan America. Makes me further believe all the talks of the small cc Pan America models was just corporate office bicker and the info leaks of the smaller cc engines were done on purpose to get the attention of younger adventure bike riders 🤔🤷🏼♂️

I agree, HD is definitely targeting the top price points of the market, which is consistent with their strategy across all their lines. The CEO has stated multiple times he'd prefer to sell less bikes at higher profit than more bikes with thinner margins. Whether this strategy works out long term as buyers looking for more affordable options go with other brands is yet to be seen. I see more brand loyalty with the European brands compared to the Japanese. You have your KTM folks that may move from a 890 to a 1290, Triumph folks that move from the mid size Tigers to the larger ones, etc.. but I'm not sure the same level of brand commitment exists on the Japanese side. Would someone with a T7 only consider a Super Teneree as they look for something bigger?
@Slong9704 ай бұрын
@@MikesMotorbikeChannel very great comment. I think the loyalty to certain brands like a T7 owner going to a super tenere is only so pronounced because of what Harley isn't doing. I remember the CEO saying those certain things as you mentioned and they are missing out on a huge market. Whether the higher ups realize this and make changes or not. In western Colorado here I know a lot of riders that would sell their current bike and get a 750 Pan America. Stay safe out there riders. Cheers to all 🍻

Hughmac, I couldnt agree more. I have done many track days on various bikes. With practice anyone can quick shift without a device. Especially upshifting. But is it really necessary out in the everyday riding world. No it is not. The more we rely on the machine to perform our basic riding skills the lesser our skills will be. Makes no sense. Not to mention it takes away elements that are what the joy of riding motorcycles is about. Instead of spending more money of geegaws and gadgets save the money and go to a roadcourse and do some organized tracktime. A great safe way to get started is with California Superbike School. Dont let the name scare you. Everyone who rides should take their Level 1 course. It can and will someday save you.
