@@robingould7800 sometimes they lose the seal against face shield and need adjustment. But to be honest I don’t think I’ve ever tested mine at 1 degree F.

Timely and interesting video as I'm shopping for a 2024 SG. What I find interesting is that No one is talking about why Harley Davidson is only offering a 2 year factory warranty. We all know Cars and trucks come with 4 and 5 year Factory coverage, so why don't Harleys?

@@radscoot for motorcycles, most have only a 1 year warranty. As far as I know, only the more expensive brands like Harley, BMW and Triumph have a 2 year warranty. I not aware of any motorcycle manufacturer with a factory warranty over 2 years.

@@MikesMotorbikeChannel Honda and BMW offer 3 years Factory warranty. Harley should be offering the same or more. Its time for Harley owners to wake up and demand this on such an expensive premium motorcycle.

@ interesting, I was not aware that BWM and Honda had moved to 3 years, though for Honda it appears that is only on Goldwings and the rest are 1 year and BMW has a mileage limit of 36k miles, though that limit would be fine for my riding.

Sounds like you have some really bad luck. Mines been fine except I broke off the cruise control switch. Dealership is replacing it for free.

The biggest surprise here was the sport cases are only 5" narrower than the aluminum panniers. Bestem makes fitted liners that are currently $35. Has anyone figured out what those aluminum rails are for? With only one on each case, I can only imagine they are for securing a duffle across the pillion seat in a way that makes the cases impossible to open.
@MikesMotorbikeChannel
@MikesMotorbikeChannel 11 күн бұрын
There are hooks on the top of each case to secure something across the seat. The aluminum inserts are just decorative.

I find hard to see the shiny black oil against the shiny black plastic. Seems like the dipstick says UPRIGHT on one side and SIDE on the other, interesting. Wish they had just gone with a sight glass, like everyone else.
@MikesMotorbikeChannel
@MikesMotorbikeChannel 11 күн бұрын
Yes, dipstick is very difficult to read being all black. Sight glass would have been much better, or at the very least a different color dipstick.

A little irrelevant, but do you have a dealer you trust to work on your Pan Am? I'm in MD and the dealer near me seems damn near clueless with this bike so I'm fine with travelling up to PA if needed

I’ve not had much work done at a dealer. Just a couple warranty items as I mentioned in my 10k mile review video, plus a brake fluid flush. All was done at Eisenhauers in York.

Sportster S owner here, to clear the code, what do you do? I don't see the option to clear a P160800P code. The updated version of the software doesn't have a clear code button like the Pan America. Do you know how to clear it?

great video, with great advice. Definitely getting those Green Chili straps. I would add some sort of protein bars. You never know when you get stuck and need to bring your blood sugar back up. Also a few hard candies, like jolly ranchers for the same thing, and for those with tubed tires, make sure you have all tools necessary to pull your tire off, spoons to get it off the rim, patch kit as well as extra tubes. I know some folks will only pack one tube; a 21" for the front, since you can jam that into the back if needed. Easier to wrap a 21" tube on a 19" rim vs the other way around.

Dunlop Trailmax Missions. Good for a mix of street and dirt / gravel roads. They are heavy and have a lower speed rating than stock tires, I would not bother with them if you ride mostly paved roads, but they are a good option if you like to go on unpaved roads.

depending on how deep you go into the wilderness, if you can't get out and it turns into a survival situation calories are important. a good high calorie food combo to take with you is peanut butter and honey in a thick Ziplock bag. it's easy to store, lightweight, and packs a good punch when you're getting hungry while you're waiting for the calvary to arrive. also, along with the water you bring, bring some water purification tablets just in case you have a water bladder malfunction or run out. again, lightweight and you'll have plenty of water if you find a water source which shouldn't be hard in the wilderness.

A other great video. Thanks for all you do. Is it possible for you to draw a schematic of the plate you made to place between your lift and the underside of the bike, or perhaps market the complete insert? We recently purchased a '23 Pan America and would like to do as much as we can for maintenance. We have a PitBull lift but have yet to try and lift the bike. Thanks again for all you do.
@MikesMotorbikeChannel
@MikesMotorbikeChannel Ай бұрын
the easiest way is to use your stock skid plate as a template for where the mounting holes need to be. But I don't use my frame style lift on the Pan America much anymore, I now use a scissor style lift. I'll add that to the list of things to make a video of.
