Pure bliss, remembering the old NS. I was around in PA from 2011-2017 and I believe I saw one CR unit hanging around Enola during my years there. Still miss everything else, from the D8's and older SD70s, hell the SD40E helpers had just recently replaced SD40-2s on Horseshoe Curve! Even those engines didn't last 10 years. Spent a bunch of time on the old CR/NYC main in Chesterton this summer and how things have changed. GEVOS and AC44C6Ms with the occasional ACe or D9 was mostly all I saw. Very sad sight.
@minnesotarailfan122 жыл бұрын
Sidenote: I counted, out of this entire video, only 2 GEVOs, and 3 SD70M-2s. These are pretty much the newest engines in this compilation. What's funny is that the SD70M-2s also are gone from the roster!

Hard to believe the amount of blue still around in 2010. I thought I never witnessed conrail in my life until I saw this video. I may have no recollection of it, but I definitely saw the blue in action at one point.

Talk about hella rare power and horns! It’s sad to think that most of the these units are nothing but rotting rust or rebuilt in sd60e’s and 33ecos and other, but in a way, they are still being used! Lots of great horns too man, I personally love horns just as much as the units, if not more if it’s a great one! Thanks for making this awesome video man, see you in the next once ✌️

@@NorfolkSouthernModel Question how to you read train codes like "14N" Do you have a dector or something?
@NorfolkSouthernModel4 жыл бұрын
@@wrrail A few ways; the easier is to have a radio scanner set to the railroad's frequency, and you'll hear them call signals. For instance, this train said "NS 14N clear, 216, track 2 east out." However, some trains always have identifiable cuts of cars. 309 always has a bunch of two-bay sand hoppers on the rear, 364 was always reliable with coils, auto parts, and old power, and 14N always had gondolas or coil cars up front. Look for 145, it appears many times in this video with a healthy string of auto parts boxcars on the headend.
