727 is my favorite aircraft for obvious reasons. Ah, how I wish I could've filmed some of the UAL and AAL 72s i grew up with....

Reminds me when I was 12 yrs old. My brother flew out on a 727 from Evansville, IN on "Eastern" back to Orlando, FL. Beautiful catch of this 727 Whisperjet.

I got to meet the flight crew that fly this classic bird ,very nice guys. They told me obviously there is hush kits ,but they are still loud as hell and are technically exceeding Stage III noise levels still by about 2 to 3 decibels. And a lot of airports give them shit about noise 😉 The modifications they did is add winglets for more lift, and they took out the middle engine thrust reverser. This sucker was so damn LOUD when I saw it take off from KLGB.

How do winglets add lift? I thought they were for more stability.
@Duderocks55395 жыл бұрын
+RedLP5000S They decrease the drag over the tips of the wing which then provides a more stable stream of airflow ,thus causing more lift.

MUCH louder the md80 is sVERY LOUD but the 727 is so loud that I need headphones
@Duderocks55397 жыл бұрын
+staralliance185 Oh hell yes ,the JT8D-219 engines on the MD-80s aren't that loud ,hell there just a tad louder than a modern high bypass engine. Ill take the old JT8D-1 to -17 engines variants any day over the -219s.
