[HD] The Expo Line in the Downtown Core

Hello, and welcome back to the channel!
To kick off the resumption of activities on this channel, we take a look at the Expo Line in the downtown core. The Expo Line in the downtown core consists of 5 stations: Main Street-Science World, Stadium-Chinatown, Granville, Burrard, and Waterfront. The section features a tunnel once used by the Canadian Pacific Railway as well as a diving rollercoaster section under the Georgia and Dunsmuir Viaducts.
The section is also the busiest in the network. The five stations consistently rank in the top 10 of the 53 SkyTrain stations in terms of annual boardings.

I remember my mom mentioning being at Expo 86 at Science World in person and how big it was. Also, I still find it amazing how all the original Mark I SkyTrains are in operations to this day. Sure they may have a new paint scheme, but nothing can beat the iconic sound the Mark I's make when they move. BTW anyone know what creates the Mark I gearshifting sound because Linear Induction Motors have no moving parts. Some ppl guess it's changes in the current or magnets but I'm not sure.

A UK-Based channel called BENO explains the sounds coming from thyristors in older trains. In short they’re a byproduct of computers regulating the inverters as they do their job. His video is called “Why do trains make interesting sounds?”

1) not sure, but very certain it isn’t the piece of missing LIM (as the other trains in the video have no issue stopping) 2) yeah that’s going unnoticed until there’s a large spike in feedback I guess haha
