Damn, I almost cried in the "Now cinderella dont you go to sleep.." part. You can really feel Brandon's pain if you know what the song is about. Definitely one of the best songs from one of the best bands ever.

I mean they don’t have a song I don’t love but this song is just ridiculous. The David letterman performance is my favorite with the orchestra and all the violins. He almost cries and one point. The only thing that ruins it is letterman’s stupid jokes and lack of respect so I always skip over him.
@mcor13 жыл бұрын
@@MonaRoo88 Completely agree! Letterman was so tone deaf and disrespectful. He probably didn’t even listen to the song or notice the raw emotion.

Please say more about this song. I know nothing here in Scotland 🎶💖
@mcor12 жыл бұрын
@@lyndaframe2088 It’s a song about his parents meeting as teens and their family over the years. The emotional impact is mainly driven by the last verse. I copy pasted the following from another source: “Brandon said in an interview that his mother, Jean Flowers, was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer when he was putting the song together, before he recorded it in the studio. Knowing that her time was near, he wanted to learn as much about her life and all the knowledge his parents had to share, including the story of how they met. He then released A Dustland Fairytale with Day & Age in November 2008. When Brandon's mother had about 9 months left to live, he performed the song live with a full orchestra on David Letterman, a performance that is considered to be one of his most emotional. She lost her battle with cancer that February. Please remember the mother who raised him to be the wonderful man we know every time you hear this song.”
@lyndaframe20882 жыл бұрын
@@mcor1 thank you. I will look for a link to that performance. I appreciate you copying and pasting the info. I just feel closer to the USA knowing that Jean Yvonne Barlow was from a Scottish family and then met Brandon's dad💖. They did indeed produce a remarkable individual in Brandon. 🤩👍

There was absolutely no need to share this song with the Boss.This song represents the highest form of the Killer's art. No one can cover it, let alone sing a duet to it.I lost my mom early on and each time I hear him singing about everybody needing his,I sigh and hold my chest.Much of popular music is very good prose such as that by newer groups like Dawes.This is poetry.It is beauty.It is life for good or for bad..Wonderful.DaVinci didn't ask Rembrandt to help with the Mona Lisa.This is the best rendition of this song that I have seen or heard.Thanks.

Esta cancion es acerca de sus padres que se conocen en el 61.Su padre era un alcholico hasta que brandon tenia 5 años. entonces "change came in disguise of revelation, set his soul on fire," habla de su padre que se volvio Mormon y dejo de beber. "His mom knew he'd come around." se refiere a que su mama sabía que él lo haría. "Now cynderella Don´t you go to sleep". Es Brandon pidiendole a su madre que luche contra un cancer que padece, aunque ella murio. Por eso canta canta con tal sentimiento
