American Son you joking man? They’ve all been outed as rapists that sexually assaulted underage girls after there shows
@cyborgninja54895 жыл бұрын
Oliver White ok, mr white, but what would the potentiality of being some statutory abuser of underage girls have to do with a performer or group's sound, technique, or relationship to the music they write, play and perform for millions of people? (i mean, i guess i could think of a few as i rewatch this video but lets not get carried away here) I dont know, i guess my basic idea was that the "outing" you speak of wasnt based in truth. I mean, what sources are you referencing? Have you travelled in his circles or are you from the same place as him or do you know the accusers? Or do you have a personal or following on social media type relationship with the journalist or whoever it was that broke the story? I mean, whats the fact chain here? I guess now that theyve broken up and i suppose arent making music anymore, its sort of confirmed the chain of events in so far as a majority of people believe they disbanded because of their guilt. Also, wait, are they all in jail currently? I honestly think its a shame when less music enters into the world. I would always want to be on the side of people who wanted there to he more musicians working, not fewer. That isnt to say musicians should be treated as a class in of themselves. They must be treated as anyone else, and their essential liberties to expression should be inexhaustibly protected. Sorry, dude, my instincts are telling me this is a fabrication of biased actors in the media and online to unfairly force a band off the scene because of what could in my opinion be perceived as personal animus for the members or even political disagreement. If there's some very real, very concrete evidence that proves what youve regurgitated here, ill be more that happy to shoot ya a well done, amigo. Id also try to think more about how the music industry has a sort of precarious relationship with young women generally, which ive generally surmised to be true, pretty obviously.

@@cyborgninja5489 dude, the accusers have no motive to out them other than the fact that it did happen, I know I'm trying to rationalize how guys can make this good of music and be dicks. but they obviously aren't pure.
@cyborgninja54894 жыл бұрын
Connor Munson i didn't say they were pure, just that their music is good and that it's a shame they will no longer be making any. Who is pure? Wasn't most of the controversy centered around the lead guy? I mean, I have seen that weird appearance he did on whatever late night show that was, where he was really channeling that whole rock god thing, and from that and what I've heard about him online and in comments, I could buy the case for him being a kind of "creepy" guy that would take advantage of star stunned fans. I mean, I'm sure Jimi Hendrix never did that, right? Or any of the British rock groups? Or any of these rappers that have an almost universally young and female fanbase? I'm actually agreeing with you, I think, that the music industry is kind of a pervy, sexually manipulative industry, but that doesn't change the power of music. I haven't seen the evidence that this weirdo lead singer is some kind of predatory rapist. If somebody wanted to press charges, Mario could do his time, pay his fine, whatever, and continue to make music if people would listen. I'd like to think there is room in this world for forgiveness and redemption, and that we aren't at the point in society where you do something bad and that mars your entire future and steals from you every chance at getting closer to your god or finding the truth or whatever. I would imagine that if that was the case, they would very likely not see a return to their former popularity, which is probably legit. That's just the free market at work. I mean, put yourself in these guys' shoes; how would you, how would anyone react to the power you are given as a popular musician? To the influence and magnetic relationship between you and those you are performing for? It can probably be argued that when you are made into a sex symbol by the music culture and your work is an aspect of this "party, party, I'm just gonna seek my bliss lifestyle" that is at the core of so much of our music, your mind might get a little warped and that your ego might be inflated to a possibly dangerous level, for your fans and yourself. Have we considered the drug abuse angle? From the interviews I've seen of Mario, he doesn't exactly seem like a straight edge dude. That doesn't somehow excuse his crimes, but we would have to look at the story from as many perspectives as possible and use our empathy to get at the best solution. I don't think the people in positions of power were using much of their empathy when they shut these guys down; I could be wrong, but it seems as if they were appealing first to the political concerns of the time. A lot of people believe America is a "rape culture" and that we are hopelessly bigoted toward people of color, both of which I believe are ludicrous. Are you also trying to make the point that there is some buried "rape vibe" in their music that's inescapable because of the actions of at least one of their members? Or that because of what they did to women, they must be written off and their music scrubbed from the internet? We better burn our Beatles albums, because John Lennon did way worse things to women than Mario Cuomo. If John Lennon could simply write a bunch of bullshit feminist screeds and be forgiven for his sins, why can't the same apply to these Orwells?

Too high to recognize a request for an encore? David Letterman has gone on record saying he likes their music. He asks for more and they just stand there. They made it awkward so Paul Schaffer just filled the space with goofing off. Not disrespecting the band, but had to do something on the fly because they wouldn’t play more. Great sounding band, but they showed their age and inexperience with this performance.

The floor bullshit needed to stop. They would’ve been better.
