Wow! This was really a trip down memory lane for me! I ordered one of these from my Ford dealer back in the day that was white with white top and dark blue interior. It had the 351 cu. in. V-8 and power everything including a moonroof. It also had the deep dish aluminum wheels that were available on the Lincolns and Thunderbirds of the time. What a sweet ride that was! Eventually I traded it in for the next generation Thunderbird. It's just so great to see this wonderful survivor of that period in my life!

All these years after 1976 we realize how pretty these cars were, even with their foot bumpers. The colors were beautiful and interiors were very attractive. This class of Ford's sold very well in the 1970's. They allowed the middle class the option of having a nice car. For 1977 my dad & mum bought a T-Bird off the lot. We loved the T-Bird!

What a flash back. I had the exact same car back in the early 80’s. Right down to the 8-track.. I traded it for a 79 F150. I loved the truck, but I sure missed the Elite. She road like a Lincoln.

One of our neighbors had one of these cars when I was a teenager. it was dark green. I thought its was the best looking car on the road in those days and I was only 14. The neighbor knew I loved that car and let me drive it once when i was 16 and it road and handled like a dream.

Wow, this car is the exact same car my mom (may she R.I.P.) bought brand new in 76. She aways love the big Fords. When I was a kid she had a 64 Ford Galaxie 500 XL convertible which she totaled. Then she picked up 66 Chevy Impala got rid of that for 68 Galaxie XL fastback. Then a 71 LTD then the Ford Elite. Wish I had the money to pick it up.

It came with a full vinyl roof. It rusted just like mine, so it was cut out. Bondo was put into the rust holes and vinyl roof cut back.

i would put a stereo in it that had a usb port on it so i could play my flash drive with 3300 songs on it just plug in and play never fool with radio station search or 8 track or casset tapes or cd so i could pay attention to the road at all times

😂 i had one in same color. Bought it in 1990 for 500. It stopped in a intersection. Left it there. Next day it was gone… it was a lousy car.. that sofa 🛋 front seat was huge

My first car too, at age 17 in 1981. Bought it from a friend of my dad's. Remember flipping up the center arm rests so my girlfriend could snuggle next to me as I drove. Good times!

America can be proud of these cars which offer something so hard to find today. Value! They allowed a middle class family to have a nice car. Ford was ahead of the pack in doing this. Today everything is overpriced and styles are as dull as dirty dishwater. The lines on the Elite are graceful and swoopy. Uncommon words but very descriptive. This was some persons baby. If they have passed I pray they are resting in peace.

The vinyl top is called a LandauTop and the side windows are called Opera Windows young man. Those carbarated NON fuel injected engines require pushing the accelerator half way down when starting also.

My daddy had one just like that one except he had a plain jane AM FM stereo. But that radio was the cream of the crop back in 1976. He gave ot up for his new family when he left my mom. I do t know if I was mad at him leaving my mom or giving the car up for a plain jane station wagon. But this video brings back awesome memories for me at 7-8 -9 years old.

I can remember looking at a dark green metallic with a white Landau roof and a white interior in the showroom as a young man with envy. These cars had real style, class, character and the styling was distinctly different from all the other cars on the road back than. These young guys just don't get it and never will.
