This is the only film I have ever seen twice at the cinema in one day. I was 17 years old, I went with my childhood friend Martin. We saw the first showing at 12:10pm, and we were so taken in and gripped by it, we went back to our houses, got more money, and went back and watched it a second time. It literally blew us away. Absolutely brilliant film.

This song from Moby will always remind me from that movie "Heat" back in 1995. But saw it for the first time on VHS which splits into 2 tapes because it was too long to play on just one tape, thank god for the DVD/Blu Ray versions.

How I miss riveting films like Heat. In a movie landscape overstuffed with superheroes, it would be nice if we could return to more grounded films like this one. Heat is proof positive that with a talented cast, well thought out plot, and great action choreography, you can produce works of art that are far more memorable than films built on CGI. Its been nearly three decades, as of me writing this, when I saw Heat. I still remember the dialog and climatic shootout - a scene that still holds up as the standard to measure all other cinematic gun fights by. I walked out of the latest Marvel film a few weeks ago, and it has already faded from memory.

A very iconic track from one of the most influential films of the 90's putting 2 cinematic legends in their fast and only best pairing. Al Pacino Vs Robert De Niro. I prefer the other Moby track from the end of the film "God Moving over the face of the water." Which is way more better track and has been used in countless other promos, trailers, adverts, tv programs etc...... Definitely the better track and you should that version to complement this one

@@zakbronson9637 The entire point of the movie is that we can't control our impulses. When Neil gets the tip about where Waingro is, he can't let it go. He spent the entire movie saying how you have to let go after turning the corner, but he betrays himself because that's what human nature is. In fact, my beef with Michael Mann is he didn't have the cojones to kill Vincent at the end too, because Mann couldn't let go (meta) the Hollywood idea of the "good" man (is Vincent Hanna a good man? I dont think so) beating the "bad" man. Vincent also should have died, because he was as reckless as Neil; he could've stayed with his (ex)wife when she was at her most vulnerable right after her daughter tried suicide, but he couldn't let go either, he had to go after McCauley, he had to follow his impulses instead of letting the other policemen chase Neil. The story is a tragedy, two men that are the absolute best at their professions, that sacrifice everything, their relationships, their friendships and their own happiness, to stay at the top (that's the point of the cafe conversation, to open a window into the mind of both characters); but even the absolute best, the most disciplined, the most thoughtful fall for their extreme emotions.
