The greatest love song ever written.
@AntwhaleNearfarАй бұрын
Wtf. It’s not a love song in the sense of two people being in love, it’s about a delusional (and pitiful) guy that’s in love with a woman who isn’t interested in him at all.
@Moneytalks.29Ай бұрын
@AntwhaleNearfar No, it's not a 'love' song. Thats understood. Delusional why, because he believed in her BS? Most relationships fail. So that makes many of us... fools who believe(d) in someone, So the comment is a satirical look at love. Hello...

Thank you for the breakdown of this song. I’ve been wanting to know how to play this song way before I started piano lessons seven months ago. I was hesitant to learn because of the many key changes within the song. This demonstration is by far the most uncomplicated one I’ve come across so far!

@curiouscurious6558 Жыл бұрын
great tutorial! accurately played and clearly explained (so many on KZbin are not) also not what you're looking for with Michaels voice, but its a bluesy yawn voice. Had a vocal teacher say to help sing in upper range, try lifting ones palette, how to do that is to get ones inside mouth in yawn position. LOL Singing in that position gives a pretty good Michael imitation.
@MultiTap4 жыл бұрын
Brilliant! Thank you. I need to chart this for my theater gig. Perhaps this has already been covered, but as I am a stickler for details, there's one note that is not right. It is in the last chord of the loop. The chord is actually an A half diminished, so the B natural in the right hand moves up to a C. It should be A in the bass, G, C, Eb. I know it sounds a little weird, but I've played this along with the original recording slowed down to 60% speed. Every piece of sheet music and every tutorial makes the same mistake, but it should be A half diminished, or Ami7b5.
@HDpiano4 жыл бұрын
Great detail--thanks Greg!
@MarkWilliams-mg4dg4 ай бұрын
@@HDpiano A few differences that I noticed from the original: - the A diminished chord is voiced F# C Eb in the right hand instead of A C Eb - there's an additional eighth note (Ab) on beat 1 of measures 2 and 3 in the right hand - the very last chord in the right hand (in measures 4 and 8) is G C Eb instead of G B Eb Overall an excellent video. Thank you for your work!

I noticed it appears the finger changes on the same chord when you repeat a measure. On the all sharp f,a,c chord right about 8:06 you use the middle finger on the a#. At 8:31 you play it with your index finger instead of the middle finger. Which fingering Is better?

Fingering is occasionally a fluid, personal thing - in this case you get to pick which is more comfortable with you :)

Kenny loggins and Micheal McDonald both wrote this song but I think Kenny loggins released his version before the Doobie brothers.
@Mario-xr3jo11 ай бұрын
No. Kenny only contributed writing a "bridge" ("bridge" as a musical term). Look up "Kenny Loggins co-writing 'What a Fool Believes' " on YT (short) to listen to his own words on that. When Kenny joined, the music had almost been complete. And yes, Kenny's version was first released, followed by the Doobie Brothers' (with Michael as a lead singer) which became a hit.
