When my husband passed away..... this song was playing on the radio when I arrived at the funeral home to sign his cremation paperwork. I sat n cried , knowing this was a sign from him. When I went to pick up his ashes at the funeral home..... this song was playing on the radio when I turned the car key on. I sat n cried Every time I seem to need him.....this song plays on the radio for me. This song makes me feel my husband is near n still with me.

Its one of the greatest songs that was ever written and played!! Its pure emotion... I love this song so much since i was 16! I always cried and still cry and i think of my only love that i've lost, and i know everyone cries too and think of someone she/he loves and miss forever❤️‍🔥 WISH YOU WERE HERE! We are two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year, running over the same old grounds - what have we found? The same old fears... Wish you were here!

I'm 67 years young and grew up in the age of great bands like Pink Floyd. Of all the rock and heavy metal bands that I have always enjoyed, this is my personal favorite group. My brother and I were both huge fans. In 2014 my brother passed away and now when I hear this particular Floyd song, I think of him and cry like a baby. Such a great song and now it's a tough one to listen to. I usually get out the Division Bell album and listen to the song Coming Back To Life.

@TS-wh4ey Жыл бұрын
@@FacelessSoulessHumanity I lost my kid brother on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014. Seattle pulled off one of the greatest underdog victories defeating Peyton Manning and the Broncos. My brother died late that evening just before midnight. He wasn't just my brother, he was my best friend. So many things we planned together for our retirements that ended before it got started. Hard to move on, and I struggled for several years, but time heals and I learned that life is like a football game divided into 4 quarters, 20 to 25 years each. I'm in the 4th quarter now and if I get past 80, I'll consider that Overtime. Life is kind of like a marathon race and we're all trying to get to the finish line. That's what our kid brothers would want for us is to reach the finish line. I'll never forget those moments enjoying a good smoke and listening to them great rock bands especially Pink Floyd back in the 70s. We are fortunate to have grown up through such a special time and the memories are priceless. And the only thing we can do now is keep on rockin' and keep that music alive. Cheers to you my friend and keep on rockin' and reaching for the finish line. 👍❤️🎸

I started listening to great band before I was able to speak English and understand the meaning of the songs, my parents had a great taste of music and every time we went somewhere we listened to music in the car together, I was raised well and I'm thankful for that, but I was just feeling the melodies and it wasn't enough, I remember when I got a bit older and started learning English I listened to this song again , I understood every line and tears fell out from my eyes when I understood this song, such a beautiful masterpiece. pink Floyd introduced me to a lot of great bands but without my parents I would have never known these music geniuses. ❤I LOVE PINK FLOYD❤. ❤I LOVE PINK FLOYD❤.

close Wish You Were Here Letra: So, so you think you can tell Heaven from hell? Blue skies from pain? Can you tell a green field From a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil? Do you think you can tell? Did they get you to trade Your heroes for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for change? Did you exchange A walk on part in the war For a lead role in a cage? How I wish How I wish you were here We're just two lost souls Swimming in a fish bowl Year after year Running over the same old ground What have we found? The same old fears Wish you were here

I can really feel you.. My son transitioned nearly 7 years ago.. He played this song so often for us. In the first year or 3 after his death I would play my music on shuffle, more than 2500 songs.. One of his recordings would play EVERY SINGLE time. I knew it was his way of letting me know he was just a breath, just a heartbeat away.. There is no death, no separation. All these years later my connection to him and super sensitivity to the other reasons had helped me to have a very different outlook on "death".. They are with us always.. Much love and strongs to you and all who grieve for a loved one ❤

if a radio had been tuned away from one station, through several others (including a radio play and one playing the opening of the finale movement of Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony), and finally to a new station where "Wish You Were Here" is beginning. The radio was recorded from Gilmour's car radio. He performed the intro on a twelve-string guitar, processed to sound like it was playing through an AM radio, and then overdubbed a fuller-sounding acoustic guitar solo. This passage was mixed to sound as though a guitarist were listening to the radio and playing along. As the acoustic part becomes more complex, the 'radio broadcast' fades away and Gilmour's voice enters, while the rest of the band joins in Lyrically, the song is often considered to be a direct tribute to Syd Barrett. However, on the documentary The Story of Wish You Were Here, Gilmour and Waters separately describe the original concept that differs from this interpretation. Waters, who mainly wrote the lyrics complementing Gilmour's initial riff idea and subsequent joint composition, describes the lyrics as being directed at himself, as his lyrics often are. Being present in one's own life and freeing one's self in order to truly experience life is a main topic in this song. Gilmour, on the other hand, recognizes that he does not ever perform the song without remembering Syd Barrett. Waters later adds that the song is nevertheless open to interpretation] Both David Gilmour and Roger Waters have praised the song as one of Pink Floyd's finest. Roger Waters has noted that the collaboration between himself and David Gilmour on the song was "... really good. All bits of it are really, really good. I'm very happy about it. David Gilmour has playfully called "Wish You Were Here" "a very simple country song" and stated that "because of its resonance and the emotional weight it carries, it is one of our best songs. David Gilmour - guitar, vocals Nick Mason - drums, percussion, vocal phrase (recording) Rick Wright - Hammond organ, synthesiser Guy Pratt - bass guitar Gary Wallis - percussion, extra drums on Pulse Tim Renwick - rhythm guitar Jon Carin - synthesiser, must not forget the ladies backing up Floyd ! Sam Brown - backing vocals Durga McBroom - backing vocals, Claudia Fontaine - backing vocals

Thanks for that fascinating info🎸 🙂 I feel blessed to have seen Pink Floyd on the Pulse tour in Rome, Italy , 1994 ❤ What a great atmosphere ; of course they played this song first . They do that to honour Syd , whatever Roger Waters says, he wasn't touring with them by then. They usually play Shine On You Crazy Diamond first , there were pictures of Syd during that too. What a great concert , they played 3 nights in Rome , I saw the first night. It was the 20th Anniversary of Dark Side of the Moon. For a special encore , they played the whole album! 😯😃 Always been my favourite band. Best concert I've ever attended. 🎵 Great backing vocals from the 3 women. RIP Syd Barrett 🙏🏻 RIP Rick Wright 🙏🏻 Never forgotten ❤🐱♏🌌⏳🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
