With a very heavy heart I have to confirm that Mr Steve Strange passed away at 11AM today in his sleep from heart failure. Steve was resting in his beloved Egypt after recovering from an earlier respiratory infection. The man who was the face of 80s UK youth culture leaves a huge legacy of sparkling creativity for us to remember him by. As his US agent this is a huge personal loss for me but my thoughts are with his family and his legion of fans to whom he meant so very much. Sleep peacefully my friend.

He was riding high recently with the release of Hearts and Knives, the most highly praised of all his albums. I’ve always loved visage from the age of 13, I live in Cornwall, and the music is so true to what I have felt through my life, I have seen some documentaries on our dear Steve strange, and yes he was a sensitive,Just like summer for sore, and most definitely me, my name is Dawn, and I’m in Cornwall, I was in a rehab, when I found out that he had died. And I couldn’t believe it………. I’ve always wanted to meet him. Very very much.I did write to him once in the 80s, but maybe he didn’t get my letter, all I can say is what I can see, it’s a very artistic individual, sensitive, been through a lot in life, very vulnerable so, and that’s what makes us special, if no one except us at the start. Then we will do it our way.Wonderful man, and also very spiritual as well. I only wish I could’ve met him, I am very much like him, although now I am 51, I’m still trying to search what I want to do in life, I am an artist, painting, and that’s what I think, I will do,. Not for my O-level I painted a picture of Steve strange on the cover of fade to Grey, I want an O-level for that painting, but I never got the painting back. Steve’s day Steve strange,,,, and God bless you in heaven. From Dawn in Cornwallxxxxxx

This interview is truly beautiful. Steve really opens up, he is clearly emotional and shows his vulnerable side as an artist. They all give him the space to talk and speak from the heart. I love Janet S-P for jumping in to build Steve up with a shared joke from the old days. Artists are rare and sensitive souls, where would we be without the true originals. I love that they showed him the respect and compassion he deserved. It is very hard to talk about your art, your music and the mood you create. He has left a big hole in my heart.

You want to see talent? Meet Steve Strange. Was the trailblazer who spearheaded the New Romantics that spawned Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, Culture Club, Visage themselves, Depeche Mode and a serious slew of talent. He was lord and master of The Blitz nightclub, he took his que from David Bowie. Originality poured off him. Rusty was his partner in crime. Steve Strange, born Stephen John Harrington, was as original as they come. If you grew up watching him you never forgot him. Steve passed away in 2015, and the nightclubs seem to have lost a lot of their sparkle without their prince. RIP Steven Strange.

Only a week before he passed I was listening to some 80's tracks on KZbin and listened to "Fade to Grey" a few times. It's a track that although epitomises the 80's, has really stood the test of time as a true classic. I was just a young kid in a northern town, but the influence he had on youth culture was massive. Especially, all the girls dressing in the new romantic gear. I think only in London would the guys dress in the new romantic stuff, we were not so daring in my working class city. But, even in the playground, the kids talked about the nightclubs Steve Strange ran in London and we knew he was the centre of everything cool at that time. A music, youth, culture and art movement in London. Time marches on, but there will always be those who play his music, even after all that remember the 80's are gone. R.I.P.

i was so lucky to be from Philadelphia, PA where a record store called "3rd Street Jazz" had the best imports from around the world during the 70's & 80's. Since the majority of punk/new wave wasn't on the radio, i had to pick unknowingly random artist by their artwork, Visage was one of these and that was my treasured find to this day. Even my friends in NYC didn't know about this music YET, and loved all my records from bands across the sea. Steve and friends created a whole new world that i still love to this day. Even David Bowie was influenced by his talent, Look at his makeup style for Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps) Really wished he had produced more...What an incredible talent !

Met Steve Strange in the summer of 82 was 82 in Dublin, Well when I say met, I was busking playing Sax with a guitarist on Grafton when after finishing a song this guy came up to me put a piece of paper in the guitar case with a telephone number written on it whispering in my ear my name is Steve Strange give me a call. I phoned him the next day he told me he thought I was really good he was about to start a world tour and looking for a Sax player. Had a quick chat ,asked him why he was in Dublin ,apparantly a a male friend of his had a modelling assignment there. I had no idea who he was when he walked up to me but he definitely stood out in a good way ,very cool looking. I did phone him when I was in London, a girl answered saying he was away at the time ,one thing and another I never phoned him back which I should have ,bear in mind this was before mobile phones the number he gave me first must of been the hotel number in Dublin, then gave me his English number. Sad he died so young I always had the impression that whole blitz scene was a bit superficial self obsessed etc but actually he comes across as a nice guy and obviously he was well liked.

His death was such a tragedy! Out of all the celebrities who have died in recent years (specifically Michael Jackson and Robin Williams) he was the only one that made me cry. I cried constantly after finding out about his death. His video Mind of a Toy has been such a huge influence on me. People like him, Bowie, and Klaus Nomi have really influenced my artistic expression. I think what really got to me about his death was that I could've met him. We shared a mutual friend (Joey Arias) and I had seen that he had a Facebook profile. I would've loved to have told him about the movie I've been working on that is based on Hansel and Gretel that will feature a reference to the mind of a toy video (a face on a clock). Though I think it was best that I did not contact him because if we would've connected, he unfortunately would've never seen the movie completed due to his untimely death. I'm thinking of dedicating the film to him in his memory.
