Hi everyone! Let me know if there's any interest in an artificial lighting setup in this same style in the comments below! :)

yes of course..would love to learn that

Answer is at 5:35 , use the "alpha over" node in the compositor and plug it into the second/lower image input
@glennet9613 Жыл бұрын
Thanks, the number of new features to discover in Blender seems endless. BTW I couldn't see the image in the Render Layers node until I clicked Use Alpha in the composite node off and on again.

Thank you so much. This was again a great tutorial. It was exactly what I needed. I always have problems with setting up the lighting myself. HDRI is great for me, but I never knew how to remove the HDRI Picture in the background. PS: Love the way you pronounce your profile name at the beginning :)

Super useful. I keep finding myself knowing how to do all the steps individually, but knowing the process to get the result can be less intuitive. Thanks for your help!

There's also a way to do it with world nodes that works in viewport: Connect the is camera ray of a light path node to the factor of a mix shader node first input is your HDRI and second input is whatever you want as background
@TheCGEssentials4 жыл бұрын
Is there a benefit to one or the other that you're aware of?
@NICK....4 жыл бұрын
@@TheCGEssentials Other than the ability to see it in viewport? Not that I'm aware of, maybe glass and such will render better with the compositor method if you enable transparent glass in the film settings
@duaneb69434 жыл бұрын
@@TheCGEssentials There are benefits to each method but since you are already in world view anyway, 'is camera ray' makes sense and can save time; especially with darker scenes or animations where you didn't plan on use of the compositor. Also, you don't have to check the film transparent box as a step. Another advantage besides viewport views of the background color is that it keeps the compositor from becoming a cluster. Imagine you wanted to color correct, set blurs, add vignettes etc. and still see the preview. Using the world view for color background and lighting would be one less set of nodes to worry about organizing within the compositor. Just my two cents on the matter. Anyway, good tutorial.

@@NICK.... YO! this was my solution. I'm rendering a video and blender does not give me the ffmpeg RGBA option, so this was perfect.

thanks. How do you also render bloom, with a black background, lit with HDRI.? so I can use HDRI lighting, but then use the ADD mode in another compositing app?

Awesome video! is it possible to get rid of the silhouette around the models? There's a greyish outline when I'm trying white models on white bg. Also, I replaced the white colour with a ColourRamp. but there's no "Texture Mapping" in the "Compositor Mode" so I could rotate and adjust the gradient. any thoughts?

I have a glass material and when I make the hdri transparent, you can still see it in the glass material, any way to fix this?

Hey i think theres a different node based way to recreate this same effect. Combine two different HDRIS using a mixshader and add an Is Camera ray as factor.
@TheCGEssentials4 жыл бұрын
I think I saw some tutorials where you could do that if you really wanted to. Personally I find this pretty easy, so I didn't really look into those methods

Hello! I have a question! When I go to Properties Editor panel, I select the World tab. then I add Background from the Surface drop-down menu. However, in the Color section, when I click the button on the right with a circle in the center I do not find the drop down menu in order to select 'Environment texture". Does anyone else have the same problem or knows why this is happening? Thank you!!

the color is not working with the compositing settings...still getting a transparent background OOOPS...nevermind, it does work... I had to let the render finish...it kicks in the colour as a last step.
