After embarking on the Carnivore Diet for a little over a year, he has lost a staggering 243 lbs, starting from 457lbs. But his journey was about more than physical weight loss. Shawn overcame severe, life-threatening depression, demonstrating the potential power of dietary changes on our mental health.
In this latest episode, we dive deep into his journey, exploring the impact of the Carnivore Diet on his physical and mental well-being. Plus, we discuss my exciting plans for a Carnivore Diet documentary. I am a physician and when my brother went on ketovore I freaked out because he stopped eating vegetables at the beginning and only ate eggs and meat. He lost so much weight and his heart problems have gotten much better. But I still never felt comfortable with it. Then I saw dr. Ken Berry and watched a couple of his videos and I decided I needed to do it because I have terrible hip arthritis and I don't want to have surgery. But I can tell you I was very against it because we are just taught the opposite. Kudos to those Brave few Physicians who put themselves out there

If you do that documentary I’m willing to be a testimony. I was 436 pound ended up in the hospital for a week with a blood sugar of over 600. Type 2 diabetes, fatty liver, extremely high triglycerides, hba1c was 11.2, zero energy, sleeping on the couch every day after work, constant anxiety, chest pains, generally didn’t care about myself. Had a 1 year old daughter at the time and in that hospital I took a look at her and I knew I had to fix this. Of course they immediately put me on 3 injections a day plus ozempic and metFORMIN. My Endo did start me on the right track with diet though. Told me to only eat a MAX of 50 carbs a day. I started losing weight but still had glucose spikes and still had multiple injections. Everyone said diabetes was forever. And then there was Dr. Berry. At first I went down to 20 grams of carbs a day, then took the leap to carnivore. Currently I’m 283 pounds, down over 150 pounds. I’m on ZERO meds, blood sugars are near perfect. A1c is 5.4. My triglycerides are perfect. Fatty liver is gone. Energy is through the roof. I take a power lifting class 3 days a week and a functional fitness class another 3. I changed my food, and it changed my life. The best and most important part about all of this is that I’m here for my daughter. I can run and jump and dance and play for as long as she desires, even after a full day of work and the gym. Nothing else really matters. I can’t even sit here and tell you I’m being honest if I said I did it for my health. I did it for her, and I will continue to be the best version of myself for her.

I'm a Christian and I prayed to God for wisdom because I just don't know how to help my son, who was 280lbs and who is only 5'2" tall. It was a blessing that his landlady in Colorado is on a Carnivore diet was healed of Hashimoto. So she was the one who encouraged my son to do it. My son lost 54 lbs already. Now, I am doing it, too. My hardest part is giving up caffeine, especially the first week. After 2 weeks, I lost 7 lbs and feeling great. Thank you guys for this video. Thank you Shawn, you are an inspiration. you can still have black coffee, especially with butter blended in, more fat is good fat. Dont let it stop you getting the diet going well. I’m in my “investigative” phase of my upcoming Carnivore journey, so I’ve been watching videos and reading the comments. It’s astonishing seeing the pattern of symptoms so many people have suffered: pre-diabetes, GERD, acid reflux, lethargy, fatigue, brain fog - one could think that there’s some grand conspiracy to kill people. I have aches and pains from arthritis, skin problems, terrible acid reflux, and lately a pervasive sadness. I’ve always been very active, but now I have a debilitating heel spur so my running routine came to a screeching halt back in Sept 2023. Here I am almost five months later, one over-eating holiday season, no exercise of any notable exertion outdoors, weight gained, and my mental state has taken a hit because running has always been such a release for me ( happy, sad, frustrated, angry, …). I’m sick of myself. 😄 Additionally, I have a history of weight fluctuations and “yo-yo” dieting. (Even though I know diets never work.) I’s shopping in the morning for meat. Honestly, why not? Heck, what have I got to lose?

I am a thin woman and was wanting to try it, but I was so scared because people have lost hundreds of pounds and I can't afford to lose that much. I started it and noticed the pounds coming off but by the time I got to 7 pounds that's all my body wanted to lose I guess. It leveled off and I've been doing it for a month now and haven't lost any more weight which is perfect. ** Update: another month and I am the same weight so your body knows where it is optimal and will stop losing. Yay.

Same! On keto for over a year for VERY early pre diabetes and I went cold Turkey keto even though I wasn’t “overweight”. I lost 7-10 Lbs of PUFF on keto. Then went carnivore 2.5 months ago and lost another 5-7lbs of PUFF. Now I feel great and can fit into clothes as I prefer… I’m 50 years young and thought keto was the key. Now I feel carnivore is where it’s at. The energy and satiation is unbelievable.

That seven pounds was probably just water weight - when you eat carbs your body needs to store salt - to store salt you need water molecules.
@ohrick8707
@ohrick8707 Жыл бұрын
Your body, as a sugar/glucose burner, will first turn to stored carb/fat, until your body switches to fat adaption. Then your body turns to animal fat for energy. If you have body fat to lose, then eat less animal fat. Your body will cannibalize its own stored fat, first. If you are at a weight you want, then eat all the animal fat you want. That will be your energy. Some say, to add organ meat. Others not. You are your lab rat!

Thanks guys! I had severe, treatment resistant PTSD from a lot of stuff overseas. I also broke my neck in the army. The depression part of the PTSD was exactly how you described it… Couldn’t leave the house for nearly 2 years. Long stints in hospital and over 50 electric shock treatments. I am legally totally and permanently disabled because every Dr said I had no hope of any recovery. But I refused to give in and kill myself. Started fasting with Keto and progressed to carnivore. Well, my life is now awesome. Not always easy but I’m about to start working again after 9 years completely incapacitated. My Drs can’t believe I am the same person. I also respect Shawn highlighting the spiritual aspect. We are made of 3 parts - body, mind and spirit. We can only be whole when we look after all 3 parts and that means seeking truth about each aspect. We’re finding truth about our physical health. Similar dramatic improvements in life occur when we find the courage to find the truth about our spiritual health. Jesus is my Lord and when I eat his spiritual meat it makes a massive difference. Bless you guys 👍🏻

@@dbb7286 any ruminant animal is going to offer the best nutrients, doesn’t have to be beef. Beef works for me. More specifically ribeyes. On carnivore you can have any animal meat you want. Fish, chicken, lamb, sardines, etc. you’re not locked in to beef. Find what meat you like my friend. I use to never hardly eat steak. Didn’t really care for it much. Now for the last 9 months or more, every day. So the taste buds change a lot the further along you go. Once all the toxic sludge get out of system and the body signals, hormones and such start functioning properly again, it will communicate to urge you to have in a better way. You can always adjust as needed. Try it for 90 days and see for yourself. No telling how much it will change for you in just that time. I can’t say. What I can say is that in just 90 days on eating only those way, no off plan stuff. It will change your outlook on things toward food, and you’ll see some great improvements. No matter where you’re starting. Let me know how it works for you friend. Stay strong and keep pushing forward!

Plus I know my family and my extended families do not understand and I don't think they are interested in learning about the diet. My daughter is vegan, my son is a health fanatic, my other daughter eats mostly white foods, like pasta, bread, meat, plain white rice, cereal, etc. My husband and his family are Italian, and he loves his pizza, pasta, homemade breads etc. My plan is to do the diet at least for 6 months so I can see the results, and let them see the changes is me. I have nothing to loose, but a life to gain. Thank you in advance for the documentary.

@@jujubeatz-mp1rw Arteriosclerosis is caused by plack build up. This plaque is a bandaid to save the body from rupturing arteries and bloodvessels. The ruptering bloodvessels/arteries are in the merge of rupturing, because they lack elasticity so to speak ( also harden ), due to lack of nutrients and because of a crappy diet full of processed foods, sugar/high carbs and much more. The carnivore diet + elimination of inflamatory foods, good nutrients and enough of it causes to diminish plaque buildup, because the arteries are in good shape and do not need a 'bandaid' plaster so to speak. People with easy plaque build up, have simultaneuously also plaque buildup in de arteries. Watch what happens with the plaque on your teeth! It is a sign that this same calcification happens in the arteries also. A good diet, does not cause plaque on your teeth and lesser easy hardened plaque!

I just turned 72 and am about to start my keto/carnivore journey. Wish me luck! I understand depression, having been on meds for 30 years. The more I learn about this approach, the more I think "Why did I ever believe anything else?" Please don't worry about how you come across. As my wise older sister says, "If you are coming from the right place, it's hard to do it wrong. If you are coming from the wrong place, it's hard to get it right." You will reach the ones who respond to your story. Hope is the greatest gift you can give someone with mental illness. And just a little shout-out to anyone from the Palmetto State. I started carnivore 15 months ago due to auto immune arthritis (RA). With the threat of a wheel chair in 10 yrs. I searched and found carnivore. I had nothing to lose so jumped in. In just 2 weeks a different symptom (itchy flaky ears) completely went away! I had this for 8 yrs !! And I was already keto with No processed foods or sugar. or grains. In the 15 months. My hands wrists elbow shoulders and neck are almost completely pain free. Ovarian cyst is gone. My gingivitis and receded gums healed and grew back. A cyst on back of my neck (which dermatologist said had to be cut Out) Gone. Also I don’t need reading glasses anymore!! Hair skin nails all really healthy now!! I’m 68 and feel better than when I was 40!!!

So far I have no more "old person pains" in joints from arthritis, no more acid indigestion, no more low blood sugar, no more sinus headaches, no more heart palpitations, no more sleep apnea, and I feel better than I have for the last 20 years. I'm not seeing the overwhelming results that a lot of people are getting, but I am getting some results. The hardest was re-programming myself to not need a side dish with meals. I also have to get used to how little meat/ fat actually fills me up and sustains me for 18+ hours. I'll be perfectly happy eating this way for the rest of my life.

Yes it can help Jennifer, but don't expect miracles or you might be disappointed. Sometimes going into something new with high expectations can just lead big disappointments. If any diet will help you - it's the carnivore diet. At first your body's hormones will be a little wacky so be prepared for sudden bouts of happiness and sadness. But within 2 to 4 weeks the sadness will go away - especially when you start looking better and better in the mirror. Have a good support structure ready to go for the first 2 to 4 weeks. Watch as many youtube videos as you can. Think of how proud your mom will be. She doesn't want you to be depressed - she wants you to be happy and healthy. I know you can do it Jennifer.

At 66, I just learned about this carnivore last week homesteadnow, a few others on topic, it just showed up on my KZbin so glad I clicked on this channel/post of homesteadnow where Lilly ate her first meat after being a vegan all her life. It was a cute event, funny when the goats 🐐 showed up! BAM!

Y'all--thank you for this. I've done Atkins a few times and keto and it just never stuck. I'm going to try carnivore. I have a ton of health issues and anxiety and could definitely stand to lose some weight. And I totally agree with your daughter. I am 100% against "slave eggs" as I call them. I feel like we need to eat meat and there's nothing wrong with that, but we absolutely can and should make sure the animals are treated humanely and live happy lives while they are on earth.

I have watched sooooo many videos on carnivore diet. A lot of them being Dr Ken Berry MD, which I LOVE, but this video has been the most inspiring video I have seen yet!! THANK YOU! I am on Day 4 of Carnivore. Have already started to notice some changes but I am fluctuating at this point. I know it will level out if I stay the course!! Videos like this help me through the tough times! I have about 45lbs to lose and so many achy joints to say GOODBYE to! 😃 THANK YOU BOTH!! Please keep up the great work! You ARE changes lives!

Hi. What an amazing transformation, what a genuinely lovely guy. Over the years I've been diagnosed with severe depression, PTSD, panic and anxiety attacks, social agoraphobia, aspurges, arthritis and last week Fibromyalgia. I'm 2 weeks in to the carnivore diet , I only have a few pounds to lose so that is sliding off. Wish me luck 🙏 I'm in constant pain still but I'm hoping soon something will change 🙏

I've already bought my food for the month, but I plan on starting Carnivore in February. I tried Keto, but I still struggled with a sugar addiction. I lost 100 lbs and gained back 150. I'm 420 lbs or around there, and 32 years old, childless and looking to get my health in order to be able to have a family and be able to live long enough to see grandkids or maybe even great grandkids.

I’ve done water fasting as well up to five days. I haven’t tried the carnivore diet and it’ll be the my next challenge to get my weight and health under control.

"Felt like a fractured bone" Let me tell you, I shouted YES when I heard you say this. My situation is different...but essentially, my ankle badly broke 7+ years ago in a horrific accident. I later learned that after the bones healed it had become very arthritic (pretty much bone on bone). I dealt with the pain w/supplements for years...until i couldn't anymore. Long story, wound up getting the ankle fused, which was supposed to relieve the pain. It hasn't. Its been over a year since that surgery. I have additional pains in my foot I never had before. All along the top of my foot. They are sharp and I describe it as feeling like broken bones. My foot started jerking as i fall asleep at night before the surgery, and it still does it, which is absolutely excruciating. Depending upon how much I was on my foot during the day, the pain is intensified. I wake up screaming in pain. My daily life is so hindered by this ankle/foot I've truly considered amputation. I pray that carnivore can help all this pain...i have no clue. But if it can, it will literally save what's left of my foot. 🙏🙏🙏

I suspect lack of adequate animal fat is what causes many of what is labeled "mental illness" The medical industry's main purpose to to constantly create and come up with new terms for the "problems." I can't remember his name but I saw this presentation/talk by a doctor from England and went on to explain how the field of psychology creates and determines new problems. I was a fascinating talk. I wish I can remember his name. Basically all these "mental illnesses" that is trending is just a label. My friend was told by doctors he is suffering from severe depression and gave him some meds. He had just lost his mom. After going through his grieving process he is fine now.

Cancer absolutely feeds off sugar. My wife had pancreatic cancer in 2013. Hard to find tumor invaded portal vein. Doc gave her CT with contrast. The pre-CT drink was twice as sweet as Mtn Dew. I asked doc why. He said, “When the cancer cells eat the sugar, we’ll find the exact location of the tumor.” My mouth fell open. I said, “Cancer feeds on sugar?” He said, “Absolutely.” I made a lifelong mental note. BTW, my wife survived thanks to MD Anderson in Houston.

What I find interesting is that I’ve suffered from depression since I was 9. There is situational depression (someone dies, a divorce, you lose your job) but then there is this deep abiding sadness and hopelessness that never goes away that no amount of pep talks can help. When I have gone keto/ carnivore, long before the sleep improves, the mood improves. I’m convinced it’s insulin related due to diet. I’m a horrible emotional mess eating carbs. Fun to eat but then you have to pay the piper. Low carbing it now and transitioning into carnivore. Hormones are a big player. Thanks for your inspiration.

Hi, I'm on day 18. Anxiety is way down. Asthma - gone after a few days. Snoring gone in about 1 or 2 days - irregular heart beat - GONE! Sciatica pain- much better- weight loss for sure. I didnt weigh myself from the 1st day but 1 week later, I had to use a belt because my blouse got so baggy within 1 week. Oh yes, the bloating, etc? - way down. Extreme mental clarity and super alert yet so much mellower - saving $ on food even though I'm eating very high quality organic grass fed ribeyes, etc. I did keto for 2 years back in 2017? This is way better, much more powerful. Learning something amazing every single day! :-)
