Luna is amazing. I suffer from schizophrenia as well, and my dogs helps me so much. My samoyed boy lays on my chest when im having panic attacks and licks my tears away when crying or scared.

Not sure if you can answer this but I’m curious about something. I think it’s amazing that Luna can indicate that there’s nobody there to greet. I’m not sure if you experience visual hallucinations, but I’m unfortunately rather uneducated about schizophrenia so here’s my question…would the person be able to recognize that Luna isn’t responding and “interrupt” or break the visions?

@@hinotefanaticHey, if you dont ask how will you know! schizophrenia is different for every person, but for me the thing im seeing and/or hearing could be like "dont belive your dog, im real" but i trust my dog more than anyone else. Luckily ive been in treatment for a very long time and have it under control mostly. Hope that answered your question.

The fact that it's been figured out how to train dogs to greet only real people blew my mind. That's epic! Once I started thinking about it, I can see a line of logic & training to get it done, but STILL! Thinking it up in the 1st place & then dogs being That Well Trained...to be Reliable???? Incredible! GOOD widdle shnouziez! HUGS all around!!!

This concept is called "intelligent disobedience"! It's an important training aspect for many service dogs, particularly guide dogs - for example, if a guide dog's owner tells them to move forward and the dog judges it to be an unsafe situation (say a car is coming, the ground is too uneven to walk over, etc.) then the dog makes the decision to refuse their command, even if their owner repeats it.

@@DiamondLilNot likely in the US. However, elsewhere in the world, the police don't feel the need to present such a threatening image - especially not to rescue a child. Maybe that's why citizens 'behave' better.
