If you think KD is better than Bird, keep watching more Bird. This video is a taste of what Larry was capable of. Pretty sure KD didnt play almost a whole game with his left hand - 47 points, 22 left handed - and get a triple double in the process (something you missed Bill Walton saying in this video.) In another game, Bird was 1 steal away from a QUADRUPLE double with 40 points in the 3 period before he took HIMSELF out of the game saying "I did enough damage." Watch the NBA Legends video talking about how good Larry Bird was. There's also very very few people who are more clutch than Bird. Pat Riley once said "If I had the choice to take the last shot to win a game I'd choose Michael Jordan. If I had the choice to take the last shot to save my life... I'd take Larry Bird." Larry Bird was the best all around basketball player in history and Magic said it right "There will never, ever, ever be... another Larry Bird."

RoY, Founder of the 50/40/90 club, 3 straight MVPs, Coach of the Year and Executive of the Year. 3 straight 3pt contest winner (despite the 3pt being introduced his rookie season), and he literally saved the NBA from collapsing. Passing just as good as Magic, and a way better shooter. As for the KD vs Larry debate, Bird would have KD mentally broken in today's game. Arguably the clutchest players in league history. He hit so many game winning shots, and made so many game winning plays, it's ridiculous. Talked mad *hit, and backed it up. James Worthy said he'd rather guard Jordan over Bird. "Jordan made you look slow, but Bird made you look stupid.' Pat Riley said, "If I need a shot to win a game, I'm giving it to Jordan. If I need a shot to save my life, I'm giving it to Bird". I could go on, but it's ridiculous how good Bird actually was. If he played in today's era, with the advancements in medicine, nutrition, shoes, and coaching, he'd own the league.

In response to your questions/statements, the Celtics dominated the league between 1980 and 1986 winning three championships at which point the Lakers became more dominant. Partly because Bird was playing in chronic pain due to serious injuries. He would often have to spend part of his day in traction just to enable him to play basketball that evening. Jordan scored 63 in DOUBLE overtime and still lost the game. Larry scored 60 points in the regular game (no overtime) against the Hawks and of course won. Jordan and Bird met twice in the eastern conference playoffs and Jordan won 0 games to Bird's 6 wins. In Bird's rookie year playing with the Celtics, he took the team from a win/loss of 29/53 in the 78/79 season to a win/loss of 61/21 in the 79/80 season and won rookie of the year. In his second year in the league, he led the Celtics to an NBA championship win. Jordan, LeBron and Kobe never had such a profound effect on a teams success so early in their careers.

Magic retired first. Larry finishedthat season out then retired after the Dream Team. Since he announced that during the off season, they had a retirement ceremony during the following season. On a NON-GAME night. Sold out crowd! Yeah, the bookends were during a special "Larry Bird" night at the old Boston Garden. Retired his number , too.

I know KD is your favorite player but the mental aspect is what puts Bird above KD in my opinion. If my life depended on a basketball game I'd pick Bird every time over KD. KD is probably more talented but he doesn't have that same dog in him, like most of his peers today. Larry hated losing with a passion and he would have died on the court for his team, he didn't even want to be friends with Magic for years because he knew he'd probably meet him in the finals. Imagine not wanting to be friends with Magic lmao, how's that even possible !?😂 Larry, Kobe, MJ, Magic...same kill-or-be-killed mentality and that's why they're all top 5 in my book. When an opportunity to be great presented itself, you could count on them, no excuses. Edit: Fuck yeah we want that Magic reaction ! And to answer your question, Bird won 3 times, Magic won 5, and the Lakers beat the Celtics 2 out of the 3 times they faced each other in the finals.

I love Dr J! Met him and such a kind positive person and the 1st person I saw to do the free-throw line slam dunk. With that being said Bird was a better forward. You should react to "making the case for Larry Bird being the GOAT." I won't spoil it but the ending really defines how exceptional he was and I completely agree with the narrator, Coach Riley, and Magic on the event. I don't give 2 cents on GOAT discussion. It's a waste of time. My fantasy team is Magic at PG, Jordan SG, Bird Forward, Hakeem the Dream at SF, and Wilt Chamberlin at Center. They are all killers, would do what ever is needed to win, elevated their teammates, and excelled in areas outside the traditional position roles.

Ok. So: Magic was listed as 6'9, but was really about 6'8 and a half. Bird was listed as 6'9 too, but was closer to 6'10. The Lakers won 5 titles in the 80's, the Celtics 3. However, the East was much more difficult to get out of than the West during Bird's career, as the Sixers, Pistons and Bulls each had some all-time great teams in the 80's and early 90's. That was Michael Cooper dunking. Mychal Thompson (Klay's dad) wasn't on the Lakers yet during that play. Kurt Rambis was the player slammed to the floor by McHale. I have LeBron at 2, Bird at 5, Julius at 15 and Durant at 16 on my all-time list. Bird would almost definitely be higher if he had played more than 9 healthy seasons (and 4 substantially injured ones). Bird broke his cheek in that game in which he returned to the court. His career was ended by a chronic back injury he had first suffered all the way back in 1985, and he literally couldn't sit on the bench during the last two seasons of his career (there are photos of him laying down on his stomach in front of the bench during games). Lastly, Bird's handles were quite good for a 6'9 forward, for the first few seasons of his career. The reputation of him being slow and un-athletic mostly stem from his later years, when his back and feet suffered a lot of wear and tear (think Blake Griffin).

I'd put Larry Bird over all other small forward to ever play the game. Dr. J, KD, Lebron... all of them are greats and legends, but they aren't THE Legend. Most clutch player ever. Most complete player. Bird is the 2nd highest win percentage in NBA, behind Magic, but you have to remember, the Eastern Conference was way more competitive and as far as the extra championships, Magic also had Kareem and Worthy and Cooper. Magic was one of the greatest, and perhaps the greatest PG, but I'd pick Bird over him every day.

For those that think Larry Bird was not as good as he really was and never had the chance to see him play this comment is for you. Remember in this comment I am just highlighting Larry's NBA accomplishments. Little know thing about Larry to those that never saw him play , he could effect the outcome of a game and never take a shot thats how devastating his passing skills were. Here is one thing that most fans (people) either don't know or try to ignore, prior to Larry joining the NBA there was no such thing as a three point line, that came in when Bird was starting his first year of his NBA career. Just think about it, what would todays game be without the three point line or if the line was one foot farther out like it was when it was first introduced. Food for thought. At that time it was not about the individuals stats it was about the win. But if you need some stats here you go: Here are some of Larry Bird's notable career achievements and statistics: Three-time NBA champion (1981, 1984, 1986); Two-time NBA Finals MVP (1984, 1986); Three-time NBA MVP (1984-86); 12-time NBA All-Star (1980-88, 1990-92); Nine-time All-NBA First Team (1980-88); All-NBA Second Team (1990); Three-time All-NBA Defensive Second Team (1982-84); NBA Rookie of the Year (1980); NBA All-Rookie Team (1980); Three-time NBA Three-Point Contest champion (1986-88); Career-high in points: 60 (March 12, 1985) -- tied for franchise record with Jayson Tatum; Named NBA Coach of the Year (1998); and Named NBA Executive of the Year (2012). Larry Bird, was the first player to accomplish the 50-40-90 achievement, and one of two players to achieve the feat in multiple seasons. Career averages: 24.3 points per game 10.0 rebounds per game 6.3 assists per game 88.6% free throw percentage 49.6% field goal percentage 37.6% 3-point percentage Now we can't forget that Bird famously played with two injured ankles and a notoriously cranky back that forced him to lay down on the floor during practice breaks. After season-ending foot surgery just six games into the 1988-89 season James Worthy, who played against both Michael Jordan and Larry Bird, said, I'd much rather play. against Michael Jordan than Larry Bird. Jordan made you look slow, but Bird made you look stupid.

I'm an '80s Celtics fan and, yes it was fantastic! There were so many great battles across the league, so many great stories, it was addictive. Two things about Larry legend; 1) The impact Bird had on the league, his team mates, and his competitors was so great that they STILL excitedly tell stories about him. I'm talking about the greats; Dr. J, Charles Barkley, Magic, Jordan, Isaiah, Dominique, and many more, they ALL have lots of stories about and praise for Larry. 2) The impact he had on the City of Boston was unmatched by any athlete in my lifetime. There have been others such as Carl Yastrzemski, Bobby Orr, Tom Brady, but none as beloved as Bird. He was a regular blue collar guy who worked harder than anybody else to develop and maintain his skills, who worked harder than anybody else on the court and dominated the league, along with Magic. The way he always played so hard and dug so deep to find a way to win the game was an inspiration for us in our lives and work. You need to learn much more about this man. There are dozens of good videos on him. He was always in the play, with the ball or without. He did everything, all the time. You know basketball and it's history, so if you keep digging you'll be able to see how truly great he really was. Next video "Larry Bird Greatest Passer of all time re-edit with extra footage."

Then his back breaks, he breaks an ankle, and later both his achilles had to be reconstructed. Yet, he still accomplished so much! He was tough. He didn’t take pain killers. He had a really bad infection between his big toe and the next one, once. It got that bad because he refused to not play on it. The doctor had to lance it, and had to stick it in over two inches deep. So he asked Larry if he wanted some numbing medication. You are not the first reactor or the last... but I think you missed a key phrase from the play announcer on Bird's return to the Pacer's game... he came back into the game after he broke his right cheek on the floor... so he comes back, with a broken face, and reportedly a concussion/double vision, and dominated the comeback... you say he was different... he was VERY different... oh, and he was 6'10" on record....

Ok, now that you actually think you have a grasp on Bird's game by watching the mixtape, allow me to inform you that you've only covered about 7% of what it takes to really fathom his game in its entirety. Now that you're ears are a little wet, let's get your mind blown, shall we? Do a search on the following titles, and when you're done watching them, you'll understand how little you knew of his game at this point in time. Don't fret, we were all there at one time... “Larry Bird Welcoming Rookies To The NBA Was PURE SAVAGE”, “NBA Legends And Players Explain Why Larry Bird Would Destroy Today's NBA”, “Larry Bird Greatest Passer of All Time (Re-edit w/ New Footage)”, and “NBA Legends And Players Who Were Terrified Of Larry Bird”

Lakers won more, but the Eastern conference was MUCH TOUGHER!!!Any team from the east would arrive at the finals exhausted going through the gauntlet of Superteams! Almost every Eastern team had 2 or more HoFs!! Hawks, Pistons, Knicks, Bucks, Bulls, 76ers, and, of course, Celtics. Larry Bird over Dr. J. However, in due respect, The Doctor lost a lot of his accolades during the merger. MJ got 63, the Celtics got the win.

Great reaction should check out Larry Bird greatest passer of all time video re-edit. AMAZING. His court vision was insane. Better than KD. BIRD has highlights of every aspect of basketball. Elite passer, Elite shooter, founder of 50/40/90 club. Also averaged 2 steals and blocks for his career and averaged double digit rebounds for his career. One game he was 1 steal away. From a quadruple double in 3 quarters.

Stopped watching bb a few years ago. Discovered Larry Bird a year ago and have gone down the rabbit hole. Bird imo best player 80's. The things that he has done is truly inspiring to what a person can do and should be allowed to do. Imo he is the human spirit expressed thru bb.

Bird was the 🐐 GOAT! He did it all. Won Rookie Of The Year. Plus, just in case you don't know, Larry Joe Bird won three straight League MVP's. 1984-1985-1986. He's only the 3rd player in history to do it. The other two were Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain. And Larry is the only forward to do it. Plus, he came in second in MVP voting four other times. Bird never came in any lower than fourth in MVP. He won 3 Finals MVP...

It’s cool that you’re checking this out, but man, you talked over almost every important detail in your effort to convince viewers how much basketball you know. You missed a lot of stuff that added value to this video. It’s cool to talk, but I recommend pausing the video when you do and then backing up a few second when you continue so you don’t miss important aspects of the video.

KD isnt even in larrys league, bird shoots better, has a deeper arsenal, rebounds better, passes better, actually plays defense unlike kd, he's far more clutch, we all seen kds trash performance in the playoffs in the infamous choklahoma city thunder year. Bird has more rings and mvps while doing it in far less time than kd, KDs legacy will be remembered as the dude with a funny hairline and roasted to oblivion by a comedian for kds trash take on how to win games.

You mean who do we have when Dr. J and Larry Bird threw down on the court? Larry Legend threw the last punch if i recall. Both times. I think it was 3 on 1 because Dr. J had to have two of his boys hold Bird so he could get a shot in.

Why does everyone repeat that bullshit like it's the gospel truth when you can watch the footage and see that he wasn't slow and never mind the fact that the dude was like 6 ft 10. The only reason that shit is because he's white. His vertical leap wasn't some pathetic number, although I can't remember off of my head what it was. There is footage of his former opponents even saying that he definitely was not slow and one of the guys says that everyone used to think that about him and he had to set them straight when he'd go back home. Bird may have been an unathletic goofy fuck playing in golf shoes or looking like he's playing in golf shoes on the NBA court. But hey he was also fucking amazingly good. That's how a lot of these comments read to me

Officially, Larry was listed at 6'9 1/2". I saw that at the start of one of his college games his Senior year. Personally, I always had him at 6"'10". As for my favorite period, not just between him and Dr. J, but yes Larry. Don't get me wrong but Dr. J, played his best down in the paint and didn't have much of a perimeter game. And that 76ers squad back when was 1,2,3 yrs into the league was TOUGH! As for the match ups between the Celtics and the Lakers in the 80's, LA beat Boston 2-1. Boston won in '84, then the Lakers in '85 and '87. Usually though whether against each other or not, in those days it was either the Celtics OR the Lakers playing another team. And yeah, the game was GREAT back then! 😀🤘 Take care Hon', Lady Aszneth 😘😘

I know I’m an old head but I feel attacked, lol. I’m just playin, it was funny. We do get passionate. And favorite players to watch? Steph Curry, Bird and Jason Williams. I think “best” player is way too difficult especially to choose only two. I would (not confidently) say five best players: Bird, Magic, Curry, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Pistol Pete.

Larry Bird's definitely better then LeBron and KD. Easiest argument ever. Larry Bird put up 47 points with his opposite hand in a NBA game. LeBron and KD will never do that because they don't have the skill to pull it off in an NBA game no other NBA player throughout history will ever do what bird did which puts him on top over everybody even Jordan and Jordan's my favorite player of all time besides Bird. The one player Jordan could never be was Bird look it up.

I truly respect your overall knowledge of the game young buck, but when doing a reaction video for something like this, it's best to be quiet when there's people talking because you completely missed several things by you talking instead of listening. Just a couple off the top of my head are when you were talking about knowing who Bill Walton is(which since he's been an announcer, most know who he is), Bill was talking about how Larry played a game left handed and scored 27 pts through 3 quarters, and the biggest miss is when Bird came back from the injury, you missed that he had fractured his cheek bone and played through it. But all in all, keep up the good work!

You talking through everything important you need to hear. You young people think you know it all but you don't because you don't listen. It makes it impossible to enjoy your reaction. I'm out. You missed that amazing steal. You missed hearing he came back from the locker room with a fractured right cheek. Unbelievable.
