I’m not trying to be negative, just trying to help. I am a contractor. The ice and water shield there are 2 types I use. One is only good for 30 days exposure and the other is good for 60. I think there is some with more. Just making sure you know this. Thanks

Yes I agree honestly zip tape and the zip sheathing would be better some of the zip sheeting is rated for like 550 days exposed or something crazy like that!!!

You may also try a wooden nest box made from real wood not plywood she may think the plastic box is not protective enough also not very insulative

Another idea In the spring plant a few new trees or bushes to add beauty and shade to the bunny barn and other areas to soften the edges so to speak.😊

Hi Barry here, just wondering how are you going to fasten the shed down to the ground to gaurd against high winds, that is why they recomend putting it on a concrete base, plus these things are fine in no winds areas, but I would recomend better internal bracing in windy areas, flagstones or pavers as you call them are easier as a base, and you only need to lay them under/around the metal frame base and use concrete screws to secure the shed to them, to save money rather than pave the whole area, which would be better, but hey you do as funds allow, you can always fill in the interior area later.

mit i suggest you put a nesting box in with lots of straw no bigger than 10 in X 12 in the baby's will stay warmer and and not die do to cold air coming up from underneath momma rabbit will move things around as she needs it

Hi Mel and Gary, greetings from the UK. Could you not build a structure like Roxanne and Anthony's pole barn and house the hutches and food store into it. Rabbits get extra protection durng rain, snow etc.

You must invest in leather gloves. Keep them in your back pocket. Very handy for your lifestyle. They will get a lot of use and comfort! Looking out for you! You are doing great for yourselves and your family. Very refreshing and something that has been somewhat lost in current times. Thrilled in seeing the love and patients in teaching your youngins life skills and raising bright minds and self respect. It is the utmost to teach children to love themselves. You both are getting it...three children we won"t have to worry about what kind of adults they will turn out to be. Fantastic! That goes also for Rox and Ant as well. Good job!!

As a long time rabbit grower for the peltfreeze company I would move her into the new pen ASAP get her away from the smells and males let her get her dominacy and privacy by herself
@lydiamitchell6814
@lydiamitchell6814 6 ай бұрын
I agree. Keep her away from the males. They shouldn’t see each other. And be sure there is a ledge where babies don’t get accidentally dragged out of the bed while nursing mom. We would make a nice wooden box. Mama likes her privacy and warmer than a plastic box. I am in Southern Missouri. I used to breed and raise full blooded Flemish Giant rabbits. Also in the winter we would put up wood protective walls with screws. And take down in the summer. Also the walls separate males from females, so not to see each other! A little cat food when they are about to have babies can keep them from eating their babies. Just for a couple days before and after birth. They need the protein.

Mel and Gary, you do a super job on promoting the companies that send you things to show us....I call them commericials on TV, but your presentations of the shed today is one prime example of how you comuunicate to us viewers. You sell us the ideas of getting what you are promoting. You could actually do commericals by the way you share with us the details of each product you promote. Congrats.

As a guy who dealt with frozen water dishes for rabbits and cow tank, if you could run electric in the area, you could put heat tape or a heated waterer. I know that draws power but if you are rerouting things you might want to think about power there for the water and the shed.

Another GREAT video! Your homestead is growing so beautifully, as is your family connectedness. You're doing way more than "a pretty damn good job". The way you do the things you do and share so much of your honest selves, make "us" feel connected too! That's a good thing to put out to the world. ☺️

If you put flat blocks on the ground inside it will help with moisture and little critters that dig in and cause trouble. Mice, rats, etc. Also you can put a board across the top side and put hooks and pegs to hang your garden tools. It frees up lots of space and helps organize where you can find things

Mike from DD5 told David how fast the 2nd build went. I know David ordered shelves and stuff for his and already wants another one. I have seen 6 You Tubers build those now. One put pallets then plywood. Also have seen them put linoleum on the floor for easy clean up. Also used it for a brooder for a couple of weeks. So many uses for them. Wish we cold afford a couple. Oh well ❤❤❤❤❤

I’m confused thought you were going to place the new shed where the grow out pen was. I would not have moved the grow out pen crowding and blocking the air flow especially in triple digit summer weather. No flooding during rainy season at that location from the house? I read a comment of someone saying the ice and water shield is only rated for 30 Days & you’d be better off with the Zip board. I say Bull malarkey aka: Bull Poo 💩, they don’t know what they’re talking about!!! The ice and water shield will get you thru the winter & to the springtime if you install it correctly guys, then you’ll have no worries 😉! There are different brands and “GRACE” being the best & most expensive. But there’s still some great brands of Ice and Water Shield out there that will perform just fine for your application. It’ll get you by several months in winter ❄️ or wet weather until you can install metal roofing or asphalt shingles. So don’t sweat it guys you’ll be fine. Love the progress, Mel and Gary you’re doing a fine job for novice builders, Carry on. 😁👍🏼

well i was thinking, you could allways have the grow up cage so the back is facing the garden and the main rabbit cage facing the grow up cage, so that the main rabbit cage can interupt the sun/ wind to the grow up cage and the grow up cage can interupt the sun and wind from the other side, and were the shed is placed then it will interupt the sun/ wind from the side, and i think it is taking alot less place in this way allso :S
