A young mother recalls the moment she thought was going to be her last when she was trapped in the Dollar General with her 2-year-old daughter and a 21-year-old shooter, who killed three people in a racially-motivated attack.

I remember being young that I didn't really understand what my mother was saying when our neighbor who had saved my life that week was dead because someone shot and killed him as he was giving the guy's wife a speeding ticket. I just remember the look on my dad's face as he quickly loaded this shot gun and put on his vest and ran out the door dropping 12 guage shells from his pockets running to his truck..
@billyjones904511 ай бұрын
She said get your father's 357 and get back here fast. There was a car with 5 Mexican gang members in a car trying to get her into the house to rape her. I was like maybe 10. Came running out and pulled to that big smith n Wesson out and those punks all were in each other's laps on the other side of the car as I stuck it in the window screaming at them...my brother had called the cops as I ran out the house. They pulled in as I pulled back that hammer..
@billyjones904511 ай бұрын
Guess they deleted the beginning of my story...my mother was about to be raped and killed by 4-5 guys as she wispered for my to go get one of my dad's guns and get back out there quickly. I was 8 or maybe 10.i still cry as I remember the fear in my mother's face that day..

Unfortunately I think the deal is the media saw a chance to push a narrative and did so, and there will be no actual investigation as to what really happened and why. I agree with you, his automatic common courtesy of holding the door open for those women, and well as letting the other ones go speaks to something that is not race related. That doesn't make sense. Why let her go? I think he was seriously ill and her voice was probably just enough to snap him out of it for a second, but then he realized he already let the cat out of the bag and knew there was no going back. I have no idea what he was thinking but that's the best guess I can come up with as to why he let her go even though she is Black and this was supposed to be targeting them.

"Doesn't make sense"? Humans aren't machines. And yes, even depraved murderers are flawed human beings like it or not. Maybe he realized how baseless his depraved beliefs were after killing people, and that's why he offed himself after being unable to stomach what he just did to several innocent people. Obviously not every mass shooter goes through that process.

@@aglis_ Well, you have a point. Trying to make sense out of something senseless doesn't make a whole lot of sense I guess. (Pun intended, a little)

Lol such a keyboard warrior. Saying such bold words behind the anonymity of the internet shows that you have absolutely no bravery within you. In real life you likely back down when challenged and allow people to walk all over you. But since you don’t have the courage to do anything about it, you pretend to be something you’re not online. Your cowardice portrayed here shows that you would have been the first one out of the door. And god forbid if a loved one was with you, because you would have left them behind.

There was a time when we'd ask, "Where are the healers?". Now it seems we have too few healers and a culture that doesn't want it or feel the need for it. That's why the "dividers" seem to be winning and tearing at the very fabric of our republic. As a culture we may be beyong redemptive moments. But we'll see what kind of country we truly want after the 2024 election.

One thing we all know.hate is a learned emotion.Not inherited,For his short life to have so much hatred for others that he didn’t know,didn’t want to know or cared to know is so sad,,I can’t believe he built up so much hatred and wonder how he went to school,living in Florida where many ppl of color go whether legal of illegal when they come here,I can’t believe he wasn’t around them where he grew up and every day life,God heard that young moms and the other ladies as they begged for their lives,He had a moment of call it petal,decency or whatever touched him and he paused and let them lived,Theywill have to see someone to help them try to go on with life.I am confused doing things like opening and holding the,The gun dealers should be ashamed every time someone is killed as well as the ones that make them and the leaders in Congress.I am for guns for home protection as the loss of so many let you know you need to look out for yourself and family,For avid hunters ok.but the guns in gangs.mental illness that is a no,my heart goes out to all those caught up in it,
