Hozier is so slept on. It s criminal. People won't let go of Take Me to Church and really dig into his catalog. He should have been nominated for a Grammy for Wasteland Baby. I mean his lyrical content alone, set aside his vocal ability and song composition.

Absolutely. The fact that the worst of pop music gets nominated for Grammy's but not him, tells us all we need to know about the Grammy's.

Was at a wedding a few years back, I randomly struck up a conversation with another guest and I was confused because he kept talking about his own cousin. When I asked why he said he assumed I was only talking to him because I heard he was Hozier’s cousin XD Poor lad must’ve had so many conversations about his talented cousin that night that he just defaulted to talking about him unprompted

Nina cried power and arsonists lullaby are to my mind two of the most impressive songs by hozier and stand above so many other singers. The talent is obvious, they carry a strong message on difficult matters to discuss and to my mind the delivery is like a poet of old.

Nina Cried Power is my favorite song honestly. But I also think Wasteland, Baby and Be are amazing. Like they're love songs but they speak to that existential anxiety so common nowadays with climate change and other issues going on

Please please do Nina cried power. It’s about a mix of things, the civil rights movement and blues music, the people in music who were a part of it and inspired him . Specifically Nina Simone, Joni Mitchell, Billie Holliday, James Brown, and Mavis Staples. Mavis actually sang with him on it.

Angel of small death and the codeine screen is great as well as him singing the humors of whiskey. There was a short lived medical drama called Code Black that in their third season did a musical episode and featured Angel of Small death, I think it’s one of the best musical episodes in recent years, especially for a medical drama.

Omygod you so need to see his performance in France one time where an entire Black church choir just showed up in the middle of the audience and started singing along with him. It forced him to get much better with it, because I think he's tired of singing Take Me to Church, or at least it seemed like it by the way he was singing it in the first verse... but once he heard them punch it up he just really got into it, and it was absolutely the most amazing thing. Especially the acapella part at the end! Search for "choir Hozier take me to church".

The only regret you will have in listening to Nina Cried Power is that you didn’t listen before now ( that’s assuming you’ve not heard it). Mavis Staples (you saw her when the Staples sang with The Band on “The Weight”) joins him for that one. Also, try out “Arsonist’s Lullaby” - such a deep song and he is on point in that one…but that’s expected right?

Very nice reaction video. I hadn't heard this song by Hozier yet but I love his voice. Have you seen the video where he is in the subway station in New York and just pops off singing take me to church ????????? It is so incredible. My husband didn't like Hozier at all until I was scrolling through KZbin music videos and I found that video and I think it was being recorded on a phone but I clicked the video so fast and my husband was like NO NO NO NO honey don't you get tired of listening to that song ( it's on my playlist) cause I would play it back to back. But anyways I was like nope , never. So I played and watched the video and it was so so SO GOOD . But it shocked me because after my husband heard that version he was like Damn he was good and I said finally, you finally hear the soul in his voice. And girl the runs he was doing when he sang the AMEN part were insane. He could sing I'm a little tea pot and I'd buy it

There's a version that was done live with Mavis Staples on Ellen that's really good, and one that was recorded in the studio with her as well. I might also suggest you watch the Russian ballet dancer Sergei Polunin dancing to Take Me to Church.
