A great interview and I resonate with his attitude to cycling. My wife and I rode from Azerbaijan to Cyprus on Bromptons with a mixture of on and off roads and we only had one puncture. Being in the moment is what it's all about and you realise that sometimes cycling is all about managing suffering.

I went to Nordkapp return trip with 50 to 55 kg bike, 7500km, my wheels have a 100kg each limit, didn't break a single spoke. I use a 12 speed 1x, changed the chain at 4000 and that was it. I wouldn't cycle in Africa even if they paid me but the guy did something amazing.
