It's kinda implied that the protag is either so used to the dark hour that he thinks nothing of the coffins and blood on the way to the dorm, or he's so depressed and apathetic that he literally just doesn't care.

Correct. He’s depressed. He wants to die. There’s also the underlying possibility that the reason he “summoned” his persona was because he tried to kill himself

Its canon that the character is apathetic, the way he puts headphones over his ears, the way he ignores the world around him. The manga, the movie, the anime all shows him as a more stoic and apathetic character before meeting the SEES.

Plus it literally shows yukari trying to shoot herself first and then him following through. Lastly the death kid saying go ahead and do it kinda all together is the reason he shot himself

His apathy and depression were highly implied. When he takes the evoker to his head you can see the hint of a smile when he pulls the trigger, almost like he was handed the very instrument that could give him what he wants, death, a poetic and unjust beginning. Our reluctant hero.

Although the method of summoning a Persona in Persona 3 was always a bit unsettling, apparently it was supposed to be even more macabre. Originally, the “evokers” that they use to summon their personas were going to be actual pistols that had live rounds, and every single time they used it they would actually shoot themselves in the head, and their personas would prevent them from actually dying from impact by quickly healing them from their wounds.

I honestly prefer the original because while the remake doesn't have the mechanics that piss me off it is heavily toned down Thanatos is less brutal and Yukari isn't as hostile towards Mitsuru(making any reference to "hostility" make no sense)

Dropped P4G just cause of some old mechanics? Sure it was rough but you're missing out on a fantastic game. I played P3P and P4G on gamepass and gameplay wise they were definitely worse than P5 but damn was it worth it. I just hate they were removed before I could go back and do a New Game Plus run
