The store invested just 1500 on what will eventually fetch 8-10K in sales. The G1 Megatron boxed could fetch a grand alone. I would of offered the guy 4K sterling and paid shipping to the UK for that treasure chest.
@inkwell96518 ай бұрын
@@maxvideoentertainment8706 that megatron would not fetch over 700 hundred. One sold on ebay for 510 a few days ago. None of those toys were mint or complete. Sure some had boxes but thats doesn't counter missing pieces and played with condition. At best over a period of time the shop might make 5 to 6 grand in sales. After a 2500.00 investment minus the cost of space, listing paying employees, store, and taxes the store might pull 3 to 4 thousand profit. Not the gold mine people imagine it is.
@inkwell96518 ай бұрын
@@maxvideoentertainment8706 the store invested 2500.00 in what might be close to 5000.00 in sales. So 2500.00 profit after sales. Then he has to factor in paying rent, utilities, business insurance, federal, state and city taxes, employee salaries. If he sales on ebay then tack on ebay fees. Money also goes towards buying more inventory for the shop. Then as the shop owner he gets what ever is left for himself after all that. Not such a big goldmine everyone thinks it is. That megatron is the most valued thing in that lot. One in box sold on ebay March 30 for 510.00. So no, the megatron is not worth 1000.00. The box was rougher but the one in the video wasn't mint either. None of those toys were mint.

Had the MASK figures been complete with helmets the value on those would have been greater, but without really seeing everything in detail can't know for sure how complete everything was. The SW lot alone I thought would be valued at around 1K total. Not to mention the clean G1 Megatron, no stickers applied and still on the sheet will likely sell for around 1K as well. If the gentleman ever came back with more of the accessories to complete what he already brought in I think that would bump up the overall value of the haul to a more favorable offer.

The main problem is that you guys are not transparent enough with the customer about the retail value. You need to first explain what it is all worth and even say what you are going to sell it for, a ballpark figure, explain you need to make a profit to justify the time and space for it all and then make the offer of 45-55% of the retail value or whatever. The way you all come up with the $1500 offer is filmed really sketchy: three people side by side, behind the counter whispering among themselves, away from the customer's ears. I would never feel comfortable in that setting selling something to the store. It just looks sketchy as hell. Sure you may not make as huge a profit being up front, but you'll gain the respect and trust of the viewers and future customers and that alone is priceless.

I am not too familiar with what the total of these would be, but I'm pretty sure the dude isn't going to be putting it on KZbin and try to rip people off. He also had every opportunity to do the work of researching each item and listing them on ebay himself to get more, and considering how little he knows about any of it, that would have taken him more time and effort than it's worth. None of it was mint, and you can look up the prices yourself on all those SW pieces, most don't sell for much anymore. I know because I have the same sets in pretty much the same condition and I would have made more if I'd sold it off 10 or 20 years ago than I will now. You never get full value when you sell to a reseller who has to do all that work, especially when the reseller has a store and employees he has to pay.

Guys..when people re-sell things they typically buy them for about half of what they sell it for. That is a standard practice among lots of things that are re-sold. Kind of like when u sell something to a pawn shop…say a TV. If it goes for $400 used, then they will buy it for around $200. The store has to make a profit to cover their business costs…things like employee salaries, rent, electric, advertising, insurance, worker’s comp, and many other costs. If it were me, I would print up a flyer saying “We buy toys” and list the toys they are looking for and explain how they are valued and show the transparency of it all because most folks are new to selling toys probably. This would help folks understand it better. These guys are being fair IMO, running a business is VERY expensive and I think some commenters on here are not taking that into account. Hmmm. I'm usually defending in the comments on the prices...this seemed a bit low. There were a lot of boxes there. Also the megatron alone will retail for for $400 conservatively. Maybe even 700 or 800 if the condition is as good as it looked on camera. It's so hard to price these things. I imagine most of this collection will go in storage WAITING on the missing one or two pieces. If they manage to complete everything it will go for $6k+...but that's if they can find the missing pieces. I think $2000-$2500 would have been closer, or maybe let him keep one or two key pieces with instructions to ebay them. This was s tough one. Still beats losing them at a yard sale for $100 which seems was likely to happen in this case.

The whole thing is complicated and very painful I agree with what you are feeling. I almost wish he told the guy to keep all his shit cuz his son is gonna regret it someday. It's an AMAZING collection. I'm conflicted too! Edit: After thinking about it at least Toy Federation is an amazing place that those of us who are nostalgic for this shit, grew up and have disposable money, and have a legit place to go to repurchase our childhood. That's special.

My parents never asked me. They just gradually started taking my old toys. I had all GI Joe and Masters of the universe. I had all the old turtles too. My parents spoiled us as kids when it came to holidays but were never very good at investments. I told what the values where now on some of these old bases like the cobra command center and they didn’t believe me. It’s too bad too because I kept them in pristine condition considering I never had friends to play with so I treated my toys like friends.

I used to have a bunch of Star Wars men. I was a bad kid. I used to take off to the store without letting anyone know and steal action figures. I’d go back home and play under a tree with my new toys. He-Man too 😂I’m 50 now so I’ve come a long way. Stealing isn’t cool.😳

You people complaining about how much he made. A lot of us neither have the time or energy to try and sell this for more. IF folks like this man and his son didn’t sell stuff to this store or others, you wouldn’t have great stores like this to visit and shop. Think before shooting off your mouth about robbery.

You guys are too focused on what he didnt do for the old guy instead of what he DID do for the old guy. He was going to get zero dollars out of them if he threw them our or donated them. Zero. Dude walked away with 4 grand and you guys are whining because the shop needs to make a profit while keeping people on payroll lmao. This is how business works.
@carn1fex_2 ай бұрын
Yes. So many comments are from people who are literally delulu and don't know how the world, or a business works. SO MANY comments, under every video, talking about how the store 'scams' people. 😂😂 They are not scamming people. People saying that are delulu. You can't expect him to pay you $100 for a $100 Figure, or even $90. You maybe get 40-$50 for it. 😂 If you walk in to the store with some kind of 'HOLY GRAIL' you maybe get 75%. I don't have stores like that 'near me', nor am i collecting because it could be 'worth' something... but I DO sometimes sell stuff out of my collection - on eBay. It may take a while for the item to sell but you will definitely make 'more' money that way. I recently sold a Titanfall 2 Figure from McFarlane 'BT-7274' - Nothing special just a 'Mech' from a Videogame and it cost me like $50 in 2017. Sold that thing on eBay for 300$. If i brought that thing to any Store like Toy Federation they would give me 50-60 bucks. lmfao People need a reailty check. If you are 'in need' of money or wanna sell off a whole or 'big collection' at once, a Store like Toy Federation is great - But don't expect them to pay anything close to what it's 'worth' or any collector guide tells you its worth. If you just 'need some space' or just don't like the Figure/Toys anymore - Just sell them on eBay.
