This collection is definitely worth about 4k to maybe 5k, I feel like they should’ve offered a bit more. I know there were some parts missing but they were in great condition. And you know the shop probably had a lot of the missing parts. That dad had no clue what he had. If his son, who owned the toys came in he would’ve definitely got a better offer

The store invested just 1500 on what will eventually fetch 8-10K in sales. The G1 Megatron boxed could fetch a grand alone. I would of offered the guy 4K sterling and paid shipping to the UK for that treasure chest.
@inkwell9651
@inkwell9651 Ай бұрын
@@maxvideoentertainment8706 that megatron would not fetch over 700 hundred. One sold on ebay for 510 a few days ago. None of those toys were mint or complete. Sure some had boxes but thats doesn't counter missing pieces and played with condition. At best over a period of time the shop might make 5 to 6 grand in sales. After a 2500.00 investment minus the cost of space, listing paying employees, store, and taxes the store might pull 3 to 4 thousand profit. Not the gold mine people imagine it is.
@inkwell9651
@inkwell9651 Ай бұрын
@@maxvideoentertainment8706 the store invested 2500.00 in what might be close to 5000.00 in sales. So 2500.00 profit after sales. Then he has to factor in paying rent, utilities, business insurance, federal, state and city taxes, employee salaries. If he sales on ebay then tack on ebay fees. Money also goes towards buying more inventory for the shop. Then as the shop owner he gets what ever is left for himself after all that. Not such a big goldmine everyone thinks it is. That megatron is the most valued thing in that lot. One in box sold on ebay March 30 for 510.00. So no, the megatron is not worth 1000.00. The box was rougher but the one in the video wasn't mint either. None of those toys were mint.

I know TF has to do their thing, I mean, in my head I thought maybe around 4-5K for the whole lot, so they were going to offer him half that. Had the MASK figures been complete with helmets the value on those would have been greater, but without really seeing everything in detail can't know for sure how complete everything was. The SW lot alone I thought would be valued at around 1K total. Not to mention the clean G1 Megatron, no stickers applied and still on the sheet will likely sell for around 1K as well. If the gentleman ever came back with more of the accessories to complete what he already brought in I think that would bump up the overall value of the haul to a more favorable offer.

Consideration that they are an “SHOP” and they have to pay rent and it’s gonna take time to sell those toys. Now if they were “COLLECTORS” that be a different story. While items may change from country to country, that AT-AT alone is worth around $500 here. The Tiger Fly gets around $200+,. The Heli Fighter is around $400. The Megazord (in box) around $400, Pretenders in box around $250, The megatron for around $600 (Possiby more as this is like new and in box). That's not even a quarter of the stuff! I understand that you need to make a profit as you are obviously going to re-sell this stuff but that is some serious low balling there.

$1500 sounds a little light for what appears to be loads of quality toys. Any clarity on why?
@IronKnee963

Because the already had all the stuff and staged it. This way they can make it appear that "this is the fair price" to gullible people. Also to be fair, a lot of the stuff isn't quality. People want mint condition or in box and all accessories. Unless it's super rare it won't go for that much like the star wars stuff.

Guys..when people re-sell things they typically buy them for about half of what they sell it for. That is a standard practice among lots of things that are re-sold. Kind of like when u sell something to a pawn shop…say a TV. If it goes for $400 used, then they will buy it for around $200. The store has to make a profit to cover their business costs…things like employee salaries, rent, electric, advertising, insurance, worker’s comp, and many other costs. If it were me, I would print up a flyer saying “We buy toys” and list the toys they are looking for and explain how they are valued and show the transparency of it all because most folks are new to selling toys probably. This would help folks understand it better. These guys are being fair IMO, running a business is VERY expensive and I think some commenters on here are not taking that into account. Also he would not post unfair prices to just get backlash so cut him some slack. Thanks for the videos, I enjoy watching.

As a collector myself, the reason most of these are in as good of shape is he probably valued the memories between when he got them, who got them for him, and a desire to preserve the memories associated with them. Hmmm. I'm usually defending in the comments on the prices...this seemed a bit low. There were a lot of boxes there. Also the megatron alone will retail for for $400 conservatively. Maybe even 700 or 800 if the condition is as good as it looked on camera. It's so hard to price these things. I imagine most of this collection will go in storage WAITING on the missing one or two pieces. If they manage to complete everything it will go for $6k+...but that's if they can find the missing pieces. I think $2000-$2500 would have been closer, or maybe let him keep one or two key pieces with instructions to ebay them. This was s tough one. Still beats losing them at a yard sale for $100 which seems was likely to happen in this case.

Assuming the dad here knew how to use eBay... that $800 immediately drops to $640 and less due to shipping. Then he's going to have to file the eBay sales on his taxes and that's assuming the seller doesn't claim something and make his life harder... I love building computers, but most people I know just want to buy a computer already done and that's what this guy wanted. Just wanted them gone and space reclaimed.

I doubt that. The parents instilled in the kids responsibly and care for their stuff. Otherwise the parents wouldn't have bought them so many toys, spanning the different toy lines . I kept my toys neat , complete and in the boxes.

My wife was raised to take good care of her things so they last…and it shows. Her entire family is that way. Meanwhile me and my siblings beat out stuff to hell. I actually think it’s healthier to raise your children with the awareness to take care of their things so that their stuff will last. Now as adult home owners I have to watch myself to ensure I’m not swinging drawers or doors open and shut and instead doing it with a level of awareness. She’s gentle around our home and it’s natural for her,

I have one of the AT-AT chin guns somewhere, it is the only piece I have left. Our black lab was distrustful of the AT-AT from day one when it appeared next to the Christmas tree. She watched from shadowy corners of the room as my sister and I played with it constantly during our vacation, plotting. The day we went back to school she made her move... She chewed it up while my dad was at work and my mom was out shopping. We came home from school and it was gone. I found the chin gun decades later under a radiator when I was ripping carpet out. Apparently we had lost it within a week lol.

Why do people go to the wrong person thinking they are the right person??? A toy collection store will always low-ball you, I understand they have to make a profit, but they are never fair when it comes to paying, 1500 dls for all that is a joke, I had to go back 10 seconds hopping I heard wrong and the buyer said 50 hundred😅, one could easily double that on eBay selling separate, Megatron complete, immaculate box?

I sold some 10-15 year old Transformers toys for about half their value to a toy store back a few months. I didn't want to deal with all the hassle of selling it off myself. Plus I realize they gotta pay rent, utilities, payroll, insurance, and whatever else. It's nice that stores like this exist.

Isn't that $1200 retail? The store owner is very upfront that he pays out about 50% of an item's current value at the most, and probably less on hard to sell items that may sit in his store for years before being sold.
