Grew up with his music he was my grandfather's good friend , I'm 22 and grew up with all types of music but at my age as weird as it is Americana music is my most listened and love at the moment , idols such has Towens ,Leadbelly , The Carter Family, Bob Wills all the way to Flaco & Santiago Jimenez and my Tejano roots, are where it's at for me

There is so much that is incorrect in this video, including the pictures of “Kevin Eggers”-that’s not Kevin in the pictures they’re showing, it’s Harold Eggers, Townes’ road manager/friend of more than 20 years. Kevin Eggers wasn’t Townes’ manager, he owned both Tomato Records and Poppy Records, the labels that released the majority of Townes’ records. Take everything in this video with a grain of salt, as it was obviously done as nothing more than a way to get views.

I agree with the negative assessment of this video. A lot of it is bull shit. There is a bit of truth but so misleading and an insult to Townes’ memory‼️

Well, I have to agree. Dylan tried to meet Townes many times. I know because Townes and I lived together for several years in Houston Texas on Truxillo St and in Pasadena Texas. This was when The Old Quarter in downtown Houston was alive and kicking and Rex Bell and Dale Soffar owned it💞 Those were the good ol days I always cherish. . I have many many great stories and memories. This video is NOT TRUE, in many ways!

I've met one of his granddaughters and she tells different stories. Heartwarming and heartbreaking stories, true, but this delivery is a paltry attempt to do him any justice. If you are any kind of journalist or documentarian, do some legwork and research.

Townes Van Zandt is one of my biggest favourites ever! I am so lucky to have discovered him.

I've always been a huge fan of Townes, like John Prine neither had the melodic voice that the public thrives to hear, but their songwriting ability is unsurpassed and will live on through the ages. When they write it's like they have a close secret personal knowledge of the makeup of my own soul. I was in Community College when the Cowboy Junkies released Black Eyed Man & when I heard their cover of Towns' "To Live Is To Fly" it blew my mind.

I was tour manager for Townes' first solo visit to the UK (+ Holland & Dublin) in 1987. I also was tour manager for Townes' best friend Guy Clark on two UK & Ireland tours. Working alongside Townes was the most bizarre three weeks of my entire life, but I couldn't watch this video all the way through.......so much nonsense. When he was on form, he was magical, when he wasn't.........oh boy, what a nightmare!

Gosh, I am sorry for his pain. And his family. Mental disorder in the mid 60's and in the 70's, was disabling. It was! I lived it. I still it this day.
@RubyRantDOTcom5 ай бұрын
I wish it weren't, but it's still disabling. Most people either do not have access or do not seek any type of help because they're in a very bad place...also, many who do receive help receive a lifetime of entirely the wrong type of help.

This is such a poor biopic of Townes Van Zandt.Much of it is just a cut and paste job (often inaccurate) from other,more respectable sources.I suggest you go elsewhere if you are searching for the real Townes.There is nothing original whatsoever in this ,and it simply does not live up to its title.His children did not "confirm the rumors".
@futatorius11 ай бұрын
All the vids from that channel seem to follow the same template and similar title, and equally shoddy "research" if you could even call it that.

I was born and raised in Nashville, spent 32-years on the police department and never heard of this guy's name. However, I never forget a face and remember seeing him around town even though the place is filled with wannabe singers and songwriters. Listing to him sing and the words to his songs and I still don't get it. If folk music is about not being able to sing and juvenile lyrics, then I understand why I never cared for it.
