2:07 Alisha: The calendar was originally supposed to have 10 months. December is technically the last month of the year “dec” meaning 10. The reason why the calendar was moved was because during the Roman rule, Caesar Julius wanted his name to be a month and he wanted it to be in the middle. That made July the 7th month, when it should be September. And when Caesar Augustus came into rule, he wanted the same thing. So, that’s why August comes after July. If you take out July and August, the year was originally 10 months.

Astrology originated from India. According to many Indian calendars and cultures, (Tamil, Hindi,etc.) the new year is from April 14th because of Spring and the harvest that people have during that time of the year. 🎉

So at the beginning of Knowing the little girl was working on something for a time capsule at the school. She ran out of time writing all the numbers so she continued on the door in the basement. And then 50 years later or however long. The son receives the little girls letter from the time capsule.

There have been many changes to the calendar. you should actually look into more videos on it and how we keep our calendar updated so that we don't miss the revolutions. There are leap years but if the year is divisible by 100 but not divisible by 400, the leap year is skipped. 1800 and 1900 weren't leap years. There are little things we have to do to keep up with the fractions of time and I find it very fascinating

most countries use the gergorian calender which has been in place since 1582, being approved by the pope at the time. as the catholic church influence was so big around the world at that time, this calender has a lot of catholic influence and it replaced the julian calder, which was used before the current gregorian calender. i just thought this was so interesting i love you guys 💜💜

According to the original Roman republican calendar, September was the seventh month of the year rather than the ninth. The Roman calendar was only 10 months long and included the following months: Martius, Aprilis, Maius, Junius, Quintilis, Sextilis, September, October, November, and December. It wasn’t until 46 BCE, when Julius Caesar introduced the Julian calendar (named after Caesar, himself), that the year grew to include two more months, January and February. Quintilis and Sextilis were later renamed July and August in honor of Julius Caesar and Augustus Caesar.

No but it makes sense. In an indian religion we have gudipadwa that's like our new year in march end because its spring and Gudi Padwa is celebrated as the first day of the Chaitra month according to the lunisolar Hindu calendar. It falls on the first day on which the moon appears after a new-moon day (Amavasya). It marks the beginning of the New Year for many Hindus.

In response to 2:16 , the word January comes from the Janus, the god of beginnings and time, so it makes sense why January is the first month and starts the year but in terms of astrology aries are first sign so april being the first month also makes sense (ps Alisha we have the same bday!!)
@internetdiary

i like that the modern new year is during the winter!! i feel like i start the year with some reflection before getting into action during spring / aries season. also maybe march was meant to be the first month of the year rather than april - both spring & aries szn start in march, & that would make october the 8th month & december the 10th.

fun fact, but the Bible, for people who believe it, says that God says the first month of the year is "Abib" so like April (actually like half of march the first half). And yes, its the month of the new fruits and plants growing, which alings to a "new year" which should be matched with our habits

OK men are literal. But, has Cal ever taken strawberries out of the freezer and use them in his smoothies? Did they have the stem on them? Probably not. Because Remi is cutting them off and packing them in the freezer the way you’re supposed to. So if you’re using them and you see how they are prepared in the bag. Wouldn’t you think to pack them that way when asked? I’ve been married for a long time. And my husband did crazy shit like this too. But come on guys, get it together 🤦🏻‍♀️
