You don't know how refreshing it is to hear a young dude like you give a master like Big Daddy Kane his props. You're right, Kane IS (not was) one of the greatest to ever do it. His lyricism and flow is unmatched. Some try to compare him to Rakim (from Eric B. & Rakim), but you cannot compare the two; both of those dudes are illmatic with their own unique style, lyricism and flows. Rakim is another beast on the mic! Back when we--ahem--old folks were teens, the trifecta of master rappers was Big Daddy Kane, Rakim and KRS-One. Don't know if you've ever reacted to KRS-One before, but you should if you haven't, brother is a G.O.A.T. for sure. And he still produces studio albums even to today. I think he has close to 20 albums, spanning from 1987-2020, the latest one being released as late as 2020. One of my favorite later tracks by KRS-One is "Tote Gunz" (2012), he goes in hardcore on the lyrics on this track: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iordepqbi7qJbJo

SOOOOOOO many people have COPIED off of him, that NOW, it’s not even noticeable how ENGRAINED his style is within OTHER people’s rhymes & styles. Some of the things that HE do & HAVE been doing, were NEVER done before him. That’s why, TO ME, the ORIGINATORS of something will & SHOULD always be considered the BEST at something. Because without them/if they would have NEVER came around, how would rap be/what would they do or have done? It would be a BUNCH of people rapping like Migos & Meg The (WACKASS/Terrible RAPPER) Stallion.🥴

You’re absolutely right. Kane is a Legend!! We were spoiled with an over abundance of talent like this in the 80s & 90s… What’s amazing is that artists like Kane were maybe 23 years old making classics. I just want this type of originality, personality, and work ethic to come back…. What’s been put out for the past 10 years hasn’t been worth the money the labels or the public invest in it. It’s just something to listen to… Even the DJ’s are faking when hyping what’s being released.

You should check out The D.O.C.’s debut album “No One Can Do It Better”. He was discovered by Dre and rhymed with NWA sometimes. Wrote rhymes for Eazy E and Dr. Dre sometimes. He helped Snoop with his lyrics in the early Deathrow days. He had a Kane type of flow. D.O.C. is severely underrated as a lyricist and that No One Can Do It Better album is a classic. Some of the bangers on there is “Funky Enough…..The Formula….Mind Blowin….No One Can Do It Better…..Grand Finale….Let The Bass Go….Lend Me An Ear….Whirlwind Pyramid” That album came out in ‘89 and his flow, bars were ahead of their time.

Most of your comments are 2 years old. Im gonna shoot my shot. When Marley Marl debuted this cut on THE Rap Attack (Mr. Magic's show on WBLS) it was crazy. Most of us recorded off of the radio and we flip flopped betwn 98.7 KISS FM and WBLS 107.5 ( in NYC). Either this came out in late '87 or spring of '88. It was a phenomenal sound. The music was sample based from either old James Brown recordings of Clyde Stublefield on the drums, or other old drum breaks. That's where the music was going. MC's like Kane and Rakim were transitioning rhyme styles from simple to more complex patterns. The rhyme styles of Run/DMC were still appreciated, but these two dudes were different and refreshing. This was the era of hip hop clubs in NYC like the LQ (Latin Quarters), Union Square, The Rooftop. If memory serves me correct, The Fever was closed by this late in the game. This is jarring a lot of memories young brother. Kane is one of the most influential rappers of all time. You plugged in tight with this one. His introduction to the radio was actually Just Rhyming With Biz. Another classic.
