Liz acknowledges this now, describing it as a handbrake turn. If it had gone a bit softer to introduce the idea and ease the market and banks to the idea of a high-growth economy, then ramp up the pressure over the next few years she had in office, then I think it could have weathered the EU, Bank, and Quango storm.
