In the 90's he rarely showed for sesame street and 2002 was the final year he would be on that show. Then in 2004 disney completely bought the muppets. But last year in november of 2019 kermit reappeared on sesame street for the 50 anniversary special.

The sesame street characters, fraggles rock characters, and muppet show characters are all muppets. They were all made and constructed by the jim henson company so they're all muppets just from different series. It's just that they're separate from one another because the jim henson company gave disney the rights to the muppets (mainly the muppet show characters which includes kermit) and sesame workshop was given full control of sesame street.

But ever since Jim died the company agreed to give Disney full owner ship of kermit and the muppet show muppets and sesame workshop and PBS (later Warner bros) own sesame street.
