Hey Caleb, one thing it seems you kind of missed- the grocery budget he gave you was wayyy too low. If he's buying UberEATS 20-30 times a month, that's the reason his grocery bill is so low. Because he's never eating groceries. His food bill will get much higher with no more ordering take out.

He might not be a credit card person but at the same time he seems like he knows more about finances then most Americans so I have a lot of hope for him. For real ! I think it comes from they believed the lie that a degree is all you need to be successful but didn’t realize it is certain TYPES of degrees and it doesn’t guarantee anything without work ethic. Because of their bad decision making they think they deserve for it to be taken away from their responsibility so they can blow money in other ways. They signed the contract telling themselves it is imaginary money that they never have to pay back

I still think people’s obsession with and prioritization of credit score rules is CRAZY. A $1000 balance on a CC isn’t bad because it’s impacting your credit utilization, it’s bad because it’s costing you ALMOST $300 A YEAR in interest! The credit score will improve in due course, but the MONEY LOST is what’s most important!

Found this channel a couple of weeks ago and I've been binging all the videos. Oddly enough, it's great audio for me to listen to when I'm out on a run. Anyway, I've always been very number-averse. I'm a writer and I've always been terrible at math, which somehow translated into me avoiding calculations on my income and spending. I'm fortunate that I don't have any debt, but I'm not saving like I should. Since finding this channel I've FINALLY sat down and crunched the numbers. I'm a week into cutting out fast food/dining out spending. I've also cut out superfluous visits to CVS and the grocery store for junk food. It's amazing how much bad spending becomes a habit. It's a struggle, but I'm optimistic that I'm making real change and will actually save money for once! One day at a time.

actually with the currently inflation, high yield saving accounts of 3.5% and buying CDs/bond of 5% is guaranteed. I've lost money in the stock market, and it hurt. But all the new money, i'm putting into CDs and it has been 100% worth it. I plan to take advantage now and hopefully hope back into mutual and index funds when i predict the stock market to recover. - not sure if it is the best way, but I like seeing the earnings grow while my index fund tanked during covid. : ( in 2023, you have to have a high yield savings account. took my brother 1 year to believe me and now loves how easy it is to make money while saving. I really hope this guy has one of these accounts since they are saving for a house

stay in controls, a good controls tech can make A TON of money! Controls are required and very stable. It's becoming much more technical and 'smart' and the people who can set it up, troubleshoot, and program it, are in high demand

i like this kid, even though he has made some dumb choices. he seems to know theyre dumb but also has a pretty good grasp on a lot of the different options for saving and is using some of them that a lot of people dont, like his investments. also seems like he is listening and understanding and will actually follow through. hes in a pretty great position with a great salary at that age & if he marries his lady who makes similar they will be far, far ahead of most with just a little planning and some sacrificing fun things. just has to stick to the basics and will be doing fantastic in 10-15 years, especially if their salaries can grow with them.

suggestion: when you're asking people to subscribe/hit the bell, it'd be best to use a pre-recorded segment to cut to rather than have it abruptly introduced in the middle of the conversation. same for any kind of sponsorship obviously

70k at 22? Thats pretty wild, I guess these are the types of people more likely to show up for a show like this but it would be nice to get more young people who are a little closer to the median income for their age range

I make $120k. My monthly take home after taxes/401k/insurance is $6320. Following the 30% rule, that means I could only spend $1900/month on mortgage + property tax. I’m currently in the DFW suburbs and there are no homes around here that fit in there. Are we supposed to make $150k+ to afford a starter home??

Nice video! I'm just about 24 and I really need to start maxing out my roth ira. I was doing about $300 since I started around 19, but I had to drop it to $150 because of some hospital debts that I will hopefully be out of in another month or two.
