Awesome that you're doing and showing this! Bots have been a pet peeve of mine ever since vanilla and I think I've reported thousands until Blizzard decided that you had to be near the bots to report them, instead of honing in on them during a /who zone search, and picking out the ones who were online 24/7 or of course watching their janky movements in person, and reporting them with tickets. My only worry with this, what you call tech, is that griefers might do it to players, but then again that's probably the problem with most methods.

i assume you could also do this with your pet's taunt. Use eyes of the beast to grab a few mobs, then taunt one of the mobs on the bot. Eyes will also prevent the bots from finding you with npcscan or whatever addon

You probably would be able to yes. And if you are level 60 you have very high level growl on pet. It should get instant aggro.

@@Madskillzzhc i wonder if you even need to rip threat completely, if the mobs are on the pet and you taunt and spam the pet abilities. Also maybe if you're far enough away when clicking off eyes, the pet would just despawn instead of running back to you. Another interesting mechanic i found in retail, drop a freeze trap on a afk guy and lead a mob into the trap, then running away far enough that the mob is no longer render on your screen the mob will notice the afk (sorry not sorry dont afk in scary places) guy and aggro him automatically. Feign seems to be the thing that causes a total reset of the mob, where as just running away it seems to forget you but being near the other guy aggros him.

This is epic. GG to all you guys hunting bot. Funny story, shortly after TBC release, i could not log into my wow account. My roomate says, you are online right now. He let on his toon and i tracked down my main char, Rogarius, and followed him while he farmed ore nodes. It was a gold farmer who had sold every item on every char i had except my main warrior. When i got the account returned by blizz i had that warrior and his current equipment only. Literally every item had been vendored lol. Props to blizz who got my account back quick and every toon and item restored.

In WoW's new expansion if you're dealing with bots on the mining nodes you can use the new mining ability to overload an EZ-mine node so that it will explode. Timing is crucial but it is very effective.

I have seen paladin bots before, as it happens. I found them farming harvesters in Westfall months ago and never found a way to kill them. Because there are different kinds of people and organizations that operate bots on these servers, I wonder if it's just a different variety of botter who prefers paladin bots over hunter bots. I think the paladin bots I encountered were operated by someone from Latin America, whereas the hunter bots tended to be operated by someone in China.

Don't forget that you can almost always identify bots by their gear, they'll always have green gear, rarely blue, almost 0 quest items, sometimes crafted gear, pure agility for the most part for hunters, idk what the pallys are using.

Yes that is true. They ALWAYS have full BOE gear and not a single quest item. Sometimes they even have blues/epics which makes zero sense on that specific class just because they found it while grinding mobs.

@@huuminbloodborn7570 the reason they had quest gear in sod is because they use a leveling script which levels by questing. But that comes with a few deaths too. On hardcore they cant risk death by running the questing scripts. They only farm 'green' mobs endlessly to 60 to avoid death. Every single bot ive killed on hc had full boe and not one single quest done.

We raid 15/15 naxx on hardcore stitches, we use distraction shot only on Raz to instantly gain aggro on the 4 guards and bring them to our paired up tanks. Other than that we never use it.

On the non-HC fresh pvp server I just encountered something interesting. An obvious bot, but very strange activity. Level 28 mage in Ashenvale, not pvp flagged, and not aggroing any nearby mobs despite being practically on top of them, while sitting at 1 health and 0 mana. It ran to and targeted the nearest mob and would keep doing so if you pulled or killed that mob. It made no other actions except to run to each one. EDIT: It seems like it was actually a ghost, but how could I even see a ghost like that? Let alone a ghost of the opposite faction? Whatever hack they were using was broken as hell.

I found a bot on retail WoW disguised as a NElf Druid casually fishing for 6 hours straight… I said “Nope! Big BOT energy this guy”, so i dropped [Creature Bait] next to the bot and watched the Spawned Wild Beast kill him as he auto attacked till death. After that I killed the beast, ran over to the dead NPC, [Drustvar-Knifed] his corpse then set it on fire. I felt so accomplished in sending a message that I hoped Blizzard seen it… nothing happened to me for trolling a bot 🤷‍♂️

Also remember that all of these tactics work against regular players. I've had several players try to actively kill me, but I've luckily been very aware of their tactics. Even warriors have a way to keep you eternally in combat. I actually killed the warrior attempting to do this using a water escape making all the mobs he added to my threat table turn on him.

been having fun doing this (on classic fresh pve) to the aoe mage grinders in hillsbrad camping the quest area hyperspawn, just tag a bunch of stuff and have my pet drag them into their blizzards, makes them overwhelmed while also getting some nice xp for me, and making them have to run away for a bit letting people who are questing able to get some targets while they are eating/drinking out of the area.

Lifespan of dungeon bots are shorter and at least blizzard can clear them every banwave rotation there. You are at risk of getting banned even without software if you farm for a long hours every day in high concentration area of bot farmed dungeons.

They've done it in the past. Bot operator pulls battle log, reports your char. At least 2 counts of griefing: one for pulling their tagged mobs, and the other for killing via mobs (pke). Even if they're breaking the tos, it's supposed to be blizz that has the say. Breaking tos to punish a tos breaker is how they see it. >.> plus all that sub money lol.

I know that you primarily kill bots, but any interest in going after the large CN gold farming guilds who arguably do more damage to the game's economy? I discovered their operation when I attempted to AOE grind a mage up to 60; they are basically a guild of hunter bots and mage pilots who monopolize mage AOE farming spots in order to level to 60 quickly in order to eventually do large instance farming. If you wanted, you could do significant damage to their operation by disrupting their mages in the Wetlands gnoll camps; if you need to distinguish the CN farmers from the legitimate grinders, it is pretty easy to tell them apart because the farmers often help each other and grind in groups of 2 or 3, and usually do this around the clock, subbing out for each other.
