Well running botting software can constitute as cybercrime, if you prove it is connected to some other crimes. E.g. through Computer Fraud and Abuse act - so if they reverse engineer client software, that can be illegal actually. Or through Anti money laundering laws - they are farming gold to sell it for real money, which has all characteristics of money laundering scheme. It can be prosecuted - that's why they are in Taiwan of all places.

Btw having operational center in Taiwan is also very much risky. I mean, PLA can just remove the problem of bots in WoW at any moment, just saying.

To add a bit of info - cloud machines can actually be incredibly expensive, especially when they need full PC - so disk + RAM + CPU + GPU and each should be at least minimal requirements. Plus their network traffic is paid per bytes. I work as cloud-native software engineer - and can guarantee that AWS/GCloud/etc are not cheap at all. Cost overruns are a big problem, and big part of working with cloud is the constant cost management. You cannot just log everything and store it in S3, for example - because storage costs money, reading from it costs money, etc. So analyzing the costs of their cloud part is harder than it can look. And I can imagine that costing them the majority of the earnings - leaving profit part not as big as descibed. It would still be very profitable, just saying that subtracting one million off the top of the head is not very accurate.

Untill bots totally over run the game as though Anderson in the matrix assimilated everyone in the world & took over the system, as long as blizzard are making money, people are paying for subscriptions...they don't care & will never care enough to purge a game from being bot proof, it's that simple. Personally, my experience in wow has never been effected by bots, on occasion I see them, but not so often. It's out in the open farming mobs & it depends on the servers volume of bots. At the end of the day if blizzard does little to nothing, there won't be change. If the community doesn't revolt and say "fuck this, wow is a sea of bots I'm quitting" there by forcing blizzards hand, there will be no change & no one's going to do that. The truth is even 100k bots won't effect or have a massive impact on the game as they mainly farm in the open world. What's 12k, 100k or even 500k bots to a player pool of 7+mil. Untill bots over run the game like Anderson over running the system in the matrix lol they'll be no noticeable changes, it's that simple. It's blizzards sole responsibility to secure the integrity of the game. I have been playing wow on and off since 2004-2023 I'll start playing again in 2026. Untill bots massively effect my experience which it never has, I'll continue to pay for subscription & enjoy the game. This condition is true for most people, untill that changes nothing will change. Thanks for alerting us all to the gravity of the bot situation, but it's simply not nearly enough to force blizzards hand or cause ppl to stop playing. If there ever comes a time when bots take over, my subscription will end & I simply won't play, perhaps if enough ppl did the same, blizzard would take drastic measures to get their player pool back. They simply don't have that incentive. As much as we all appreciate your efforts, it doesn't make a difference my friend.

Everything is voice with actual options and so on

For years, I have been convinced we have the technology to detect bots using AI. There are many papers about it. Companies don't want to commit to eliminating it 100%. They would just be spending a lot of money to cut their own revenue.
