I think Serena did the right thing by handing Mason's laptop to the police and also by leaving. Yes Mason are radicalised and brainwashed and needs counselling and stuff to make him better but there was clearly enough darkness inside him already that made it easy for Eric and the other people onnthose forums to brainwash him. Yes it is important for Mason to have decent people around him to stop him going down the same path as Eric but like he also needs people to be firm with him to show him what what he did was wrong and has badly affected people. Serena is very clearly traumatised by what happened and who can blame her. Being around Mason every day will just be a constant reminder so she didnthe right thing. Something like this is an odd situation. I don't think there was ever going to be a fully correct way of handling it.

I don't know about there being darkness in him. Don't forget he's just a kid, not a fully grown adult that should know better. He felt alone and didn't have anyone and people like Eric and that group prey on the vulnerable and because he is young, it was probably a lot easier to manipulate and warp his mind. What Mason did is beyond wrong but he needs professional help like Ste did with the far-right group. Serena is right to leave though, but I hate it when Hollyoaks brings a character in for 5 minutes and then makes a big deal of them leaving. They need to keep characters in for longer and give them a chance to develop. We barely know Serena.

I am 1000% on Serena's side. She was right about Mason becoming like Erick and I don't think they, including Lizzie, understand that. Mason is so close to being just like Erick and it will not take a lot to push him over based on how we've seen him react to simple situations when a girl says no to him in any form or don't think he's cute or funny. Eric used what mason was feeling to make him like he was to get him on side, and then he actually felt like what Eric was saying was trie so he lost himself in it all and it got out of hand some people are stronger to not follow but mason was weak but now he knows was wrong and has snapped out of it
