Why are people feeling sorry for Mason he hasn’t learned his lesson at all and still sees himself as the victim in all of this. Mason isn’t the victim here the people him and Eric hurt are. Over the past year he framed Charlie for leaking Ella’s nude photos, sent abusive message to Demarcus including telling him to unalive himself, posted pictures of Leah online, and kept quiet about Eric being the spiker. This is the first time after a year he’s seeing the consequences of his actions. He’s mad he’s having to finally face consequences. Let’s not forget that Charlie was Eric’s first target in all of this and after 1 instant Charlie faced consequences and learned his lesson and changed his ways. Mason on the other hand keeps trying to center himself as the victim when really he was enjoying the power he felt when he was terrorizing everyone else

It is a bit awkward because technically Mason is a victim of manipulation and brainwashing but at the same time, he needs help in seeing that it's wrong what he's done. It's easy to see both sides when you're not involved but hard to see it when you are in that circumstance.

So far it seems the “solution” is to gang up on Mason, wind him up, and act surprised that he’s lashing out when it’s pretty clear anyone in his position (thinking their entire family is against them). Mason should be handled with care. His older sisters should maybe try to give him positive experiences with women (like hanging out with them). He’ll learn on his own. But also, he’s somewhat right. He is a victim. He was groomed by Eric. The fact that none of the adults seem to recognize this and all act/treat him like he was the one filling Eric’s head with lies and not the other way around is insane. Mason’s actions toward Ella and Lela were wrong. We can all agree on that. But how he’s being treated now is just going to push him further away and make everything worse. It’s a shame his therapist mother can’t even see that.

The acting, writing and directing has nosedived in the last decade. Watch an episode from say 2012, or even 2010 or 2008--it feels like a totally different higher quality programme. Now, it's like one of those meta public health awareness dramas they mock up to show to students in school health/sex education classes. Or like cheap public-access TV movies on topical 'issues', sacrificing characterisation, continuity and understated everyday realism (i.e. longform storytelling). The 'issues' are the main characters of Hollyoaks, now.
