me as well!! the rabbit hole is life changing if you're lucky enough to have the ego fall away, let his genius settle in and heal! ren is truly a gift of acceptance of the human condition! all of its beauty, pain, anger, shame, grief, violence, abuse, happiness, hope and sometimes just silliness! i am a better human having discovered him back in late December, what a gift I received from his words!! humble is a favorite. peace✌

He also has some beautiful duets with the singer Chinchilla, and with Sam Tompkins. And let's not forget his work with the street band, The Big Push. Thank you, Empress for sharing with us.

Opened mouth awe, and a few tears, are entirely appropriate. This guy is monumental. I was ROCKED. I couldn't speak for an hour. My mind was too busy. I felt like I just had an hour of intense therapy. Please feel free to shed some unnecessary loneliness and fear right along with me. Music IS art. So is writing, acting, filming, and speaking. I feel the ages in him; I feel Shakespeare in his rap. As far as "stealing other people's music" one studying ANY kind of art begins their study by studying those who have gone before. Then one takes those ideas and comes up with their own work. This is a musical tapestry. That's just the MUSIC...not counting the camera work; the spoken word/acting part; the fact he wrote and performed it BY HIMSELF without elaborate costumes, background dancers, or flashy graphics....just literally BARE BONES. Thanks for posting your reaction; Emperess. Your true thoughts on it will take a while to percolate. It's a LOT to digest.

REN is still dealing with the damage to his body and brain from years of misdiagnosed Lyme disease. He was bedridden for years. Psychosis was his stress reaction. He regained some health after 2 stem cell transplants but is now being treated in Canada for the damage done to his brain organs, joints and immune system. He is very inspiring. Think you would love his singing in Chalk Outlines or How to be Me, live with Chinchilla.

Ren is the Original "Bardcore Genre Bender" The Master Bard himself ( Shakespeare ) would have understood exactly where Ren was coming from. Ren isn't just a songwriter but rather a Performance Art Master who blends music and character acting from all the styles over the last 500 years and makes it modern and relatable to all generations even if normally you may not be a fan of whatever genre he is currently performing. The Ren Rabbit Hole is Deep and Powerful! Get Ready for the Ride of your Life!

Doesn't everyone of us have this inner dialog? Ren gave words to it, by showing his, he transcended it and he gave his conclusions. It resonates with so many of us, so it went viral. (And he is an independent artist, not pushed by industry) I am really grateful, to have found his music, because it was really connecting (like he said) ☀🌧🌈

That firm nodding of the head and smile, when Ren explains that his music is connecting to real people (but he himself has no "connections" with the vile industry that sucks the soul out of everything these days) is golden to me. Not many reactors I have watched hit on that specific thought, and it is such a huge one. I love you for that, and also your good vibes.... and the three trails off to one side. Nice clean composition frame. ♥

Isn’t it funny how those of us who are labeled as “unstable or mentally ill” are the ones with such compassion for life and such emotion for describing it that we feel it in our bones, opposed to those they call “normal” who have no emotional state to something as beautiful as this.. At what point did life decide it wanted us to LIVE backwards? Because that’s just EVIL.. This is why I drown myself in liters of alcohol and Baptist myself daily in a pool full of liquor, so I can “feel normal” yet it leaves me like a tree in autumn and detaches itself from me making my depression grow in tainted soil… Sending my blessings to any and everyone ❤

Yes, It's wonderful that Ren has this affect. Fortunately, he has many anecdotes for the heavy song you just experienced. The crazy thing is that he's got so many styles. You don't know this yet, but your favorite rap song is one of Ren's. It's called LOSING IT. It's fun and you'll love it. You watch him have about nine different flows and it even has a BEAST mode in the song, literally. Your introduction reaction to Ren is as authentic and genuine as they come. The problem is he has so many good choices after this. You have to ask yourself, what do you want.🤔...light, medium, heavy?

Im certainly no expert here, but rather just your average guy. That being said, its my opinion, that this guy (Ren) and his performance, reached a level that has never been reached before by any professional singer, artist, musician. I cant think of a single singer/musician that has ever been able to demonstrate talent as Ren did. Ren not only was the musician, but he perfectly performed multiple characters, and sang it in a manner that not only had a good tune to it, but first and foremost, he wrote these lyrics and sang them, while articulating them in a manner that not only was easily understood, but garnered real emotions from those listening. His performance had a command presence.

The great thing about this song is how relatable it is. Even putting mental illness aside, we have all found ourselves in that scenario where we were our own worst enemy and we had no one to help us overcome our old self other than our own self. The eternal dichotomy between good and evil are always and constantly fighting for supremacy within us. Much love. 🤗

I just saw your Hi Ren reaction, and put this journal entry of Ren's as my comment to that reaction. I'm posting it here so you don't miss it. jAN 01, 2023 rEN~ Up until I was 9 years old, I would intermittently hear a voice in my head that was not my own. The voice was distinctly different to mine, and always negative. It would self criticise or urge me to do things I knew to be morally wrong. The most peculiar thing about the voice was that it took no effort on my behalf to produce. My own thoughts always felt like there was a process that required effort to bring them to the forefront of my mind, this voice appeared as though it was spoken by another. The sentences felt predetermined like they had already been constructed. I remember very vividly at 9 years old, becoming very frustrated with the voice. I stood in my back yard, internally screaming at the voice to be silent again and again, and it did. In a flash there was silence, to the point where my head felt like an empty room. I wasn't used to the quiet and that voice never returned. It almost felt lonely in my head. When I got older I had intermittent bouts with auditory hallucinations where I would hear perfect symphonies, usually at night when drifting off to sleep. They were so clear that they sounded like they were emanating from a radio in the corner of my room. I knew they weren't there, but for some reason they never came with the feeling of fear. I also recall sitting on a bus at the age of 15, and hearing the sound of a crowded room, with about 100 voices chattering away, I was the only person apart from the driver on the bus. These experiences were always very brief, and few and far between. My last hallucination was during an intense bout of psychosis in 2015, and was my first visual hallucination. I was walking down a pavement after jumping out my mums car in a crossroads in a moment of frustration and distress with my condition. I was trying to run from myself. What appeared to be a homeless man with a dark complexion approached me, and asked me what was wrong. I explained that I had been sick most my life, and I wasn't sure I had the strength to continue. He looked at me, and smiled and told me 'everything is going to be okay in the end Ren.' I had not told him my name. There was something so overpoweringly sincere about this very simple message, which brought with it an overwhelming feeling of inner peace, and in a flash, he vanished. My rational brain always linked these experiences to what the doctors have told me, that there are parts of my brain compromised by the autoimmunity in my body. That the myelin sheaths surrounding the complex electrical system that conduct my thoughts were damaged and compromised, causing these lucid experiences that I knew did not exist inside the physical world. The part of me that edges away from logical and rational thought always attributed these thoughts to some kind of otherworldly intervention, that made my thoughts the battleground of some spiritual tug of war. For a long time I never really acknowledged this part of myself, for with it brought the danger and stigma of sounding like a crazy person. I decided with my latest release, to the best of my ability, to capture and express this chess match of thought. Hi Ren comes out in just over 24 hours. I can't wait for you all to hear it.

This is the kind of artistry that gives "broken" people hope. Ren, through this performance piece, has become to a lot of people exactly what he stated in the song, "...the voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope". So powerful, so impactful. The song structure itself is incredible. It starts off as a battle between his positive (Angel) and negative (Demon) aspects, the negative then makes an overpowering last ditch effort to reign supreme, tearing free and trying to take control, but ultimately fails as the final act, being the "God" aspect, emerges Triumphant, though still acknowledging and accepting that it will ALWAYS be a battle because we are all "a coin with 2 different sides". It's a beautifully cathartic and raw musical masterpiece. Ren is truly special. Welcome to the Ren rabbit-hole, it's a trip worth taking. This was the 4th take he did and yes, it was done live. Wait until you hear some of his other stuff, especially his storytelling ("The Tale of Jenny & Screech"). You haven't even touched the breadth of this young man's talent yet. The pig character (imo) represents the doctors and therapist who have essentially butchered him for years through their misdiagnosis. It's the system that focuses on peddling more pills than on genuinely trying to help to fix broken/ill people, caring more about profit than individual health. The bastardization of the hippocratic oath. He literally thought he was going insane because he was told repeatedly that the pain and symptoms he was experiencing were all in his head (psychosomatic). He had reached a point where he literally resigned himself to dying before he reached 30. Turns out he had Lyme's disease the whole time and it ran rampant through his system for 10 years, even to the point of causing brain damage. Ironically, if Ren hadn't gone through what he has, would he have ever made the art he has? There's no question that his suffering has shaped his music and now he's finally getting the recognition he undoubtedly deserves. I've said it before, I'll say it again, Ren is special.

No matter how many times I watch it, I always cry. Ren is the most inspirational human you could ever meet. He is still suffering with his illness, but has become a shining beacon of light. This is art of transcendent beauty and an *important* song. Artists often struggle with imposter syndrome. There’s a movie starring Olivia Munn called “Violet” that rings of this and was a transformative experience for me… just as this song also resonates. As a person who’s never been able to escape imposter syndrome and negative self-talk, *realizing* that I can exert the strength that destructive voice questions-strength that I *know* I have-was sooo important. It takes time to push past the negativity-to make your own voice stronger, but if anyone out there is struggling with this, please please please *know* that you can do it. *Know* that I believe in you… but you don’t need me to-just like you don’t need the shroud of doubt that feels first of protection and then as a prison. You are *stronger* than that voice. You are stronger than you can *possibly* know… until you push back with softness or aggression-your choice.

Beautiful reaction Jay Jean ❤ It seems, both from watching you and from you saying sorry for crying, like you felt you "should" stay professional and composed (but just couldn't, confronted with the raw truthfulness of what you were experiencing). No need for that at all. By interacting with Ren and the community around him you'll quickly realise that in this growing little world real and raw emotions are cherished. It seems at times like Ren is the antidote to the world of social media where everybody has to present a public persona which is constantly scrutinised by the whole world. I don't know how far this can go , but it already is more than just music, it is a social phenomenon. Maybe it will just remain a small bubble in the sea of internet or maybe it will change the world. But in less than a year since the release of Hi Ren small ripple effects of "RENeissance" are already visible on many levels. When you drive deeper into it, you should start with "Sick Boi". It will not become your favourite Ren song, but it is a natural companion to Hi Ren, filmed in the same room and revealing more about his life story. But it would be good to know a bit about him to understand references (i.e. "bitten by a tick boyc referring to his Lyme disease)

I'm new to your channel: liked/subscribed. I envy you you seeing him for the first time and just beginning your journey into the Ren-o-verse. Ren had Lyme disease and was misdiagnosed for about 8 years. Lyme attacks EVERYTHING over time, including the brain. By the time he got his diagnosis his body and brain were trashed and he was confined to bed 23 hours a day. He's fighting his way back. Currently he's receiving daily treatment in Canada. There are still only a handful of things he can eat without his body shutting down, so he's not "well" as we normally think of it. But he's better - so much better. Working out, making music. He's from Wales, in the videos you'll see him performing in the streets of Brighton, England. As everyone has said, he's amazing. He does fun things that will make you laugh, but he's a serious artist who thinks carefully about the world around him, and his many of his lyrics carry his thoughts. One month from now he's dropping a hip hop album, so he's prepping for that now by dropping music to attract the hip hop crowd and 'put them on notice.'

Your reaction was great. You asked for help in understanding. I think your heart understood it 100%. You will get more by reading the lyrics in detail, but I could see by your emotions that you were feeling the message. I'm a long time watcher and subscriber. I love what you do. Thank you Joy! Stay awesome!

Lovely reaction. This is definitely a piece of art that deserves many re-examinations. And the community of fans he's building are some of the most compassionate people you'll meet. We understand pain. Many of us (myself included) also deal with chronic illnesses, and have had to learn the dance of acceptance. Welcome!

I love watching everyone's reactions after his speech and the songs done. It's always at least a minute of just aww and silence. He's today's Shakespeare. He's phenomenal. Also. Following you. Lol

Best Piece of art I've witnessed in this 21st century. As this being near the 40th time experiencing this, I hope I never stop sheading a tear every time I do in the future. His tale of Jenny and Screech is excellent and I really enjoyed his Money Game I & !! and he's currently working on Money Game III. His recent works may be a maturing from his younger self but it all is amazing art. Art will art. Peace/JT

As many have said before this is an experience/theatre, much more than just a song. His duets with Chinchilla are amazing then you have Chinchilla on her own. Independent artists who answer to no one
