I have suffered from PTSD and depression for about 8 years now. And just 3 Months ago, I got diagnosed with a brain tumor. The only thing known about it, is the fact it can't be the reason for my psychic problems. I really was just a few steps away from doing the irreversible. But your music is one of the things that kept me from it. Thank you for putting your music out here so I can feel comfort in it.

Ren, I’m from the US and I recently came across “Hi Ren” while on TikTok, and I basically did a deep dive on your music and your story, and I just wanted to say that I so admire the candor and the eloquence in which you tell your story both through your music and your interviews. I am in awe of the strength you have to not only overcome such suffering but to use it for something so inspiring and just so fucking amazing. I too have experienced chronic illness and pain, both personally and watching my little brother lose so much of his young adult life to debilitating mental illness and the devastating side effects of medications. Your story definitely struck a cord, both breaking my heart and sparking hope. Your music has lit my own creative fire and I’ve been writing again for the first time in a long time. So thank you, Ren. For being who you are and for your art, which I hope to witness live someday. You are absolutely incredible. Much love! - jenna ❤️

Ren, the "Lord, I forgive you.." lyric just resonated and wrecked me. For the past fifteen years I have been a hospital psychiatric nurse. I have seen so much horrifically painful trauma and suffering, both mental and physical. The amount of hopelessness I witness is massive. I rarely get the honor of hearing someone forgive the Lord, because only a fraction cling to God, and most feel abandoned by him. When I heard you sing that lyric, I wept with relief and gratitude. It gave me hope for my patients whom I love ❤ that one day their journey will include the words "Lord I forgive you." God bless you Ren.

He needs a custom ride more in keeping with what the 2 Live Crew boys partied, practiced, played..and well, _played._ I grew up on Miami Bass and that 808 boom, extra sharp high hats, and a craze-inducing drop. Fun Fact: Remember those Parental Warning labels for Explicit Material labels that were everywhere in the mid 80's and 90's? You can thank them for that because before their court challenge, many albums deemed 'sexually explicit' were found to violate obscenity laws and thus illegal, enforceable with jail time. With the help of Henry Louis Gates' (yes, _that_ Henry Louis Gates) testimony on their behalf, the Crew was aquitted on all charges, leading the way to ending the rampant First Amendment violations enforced under the premise of their 'indecency'. Ahhh, _the memories!_

I just turned 53 years old last St. Patrick's Day, and for the past 18 months I feel like I've grown emotionally. After seeing the Hi Ren video, I felt so connected to Ren. I have a lot in common with him, and hearing him say out loud words that I have been keeping in the secret journal in my head. The courage he has shown us by not being afraid to show vulnerability and admitting how broken he has felt gave me courage to share parts of my life. I have been taught that no one needs to hear about what's been done to you. I had been told to pretend that the abuse that I had been through never happened. Just go on with your life and grow the heck up at the age of 12. I feel so much lighter emotionally and now I'm a survivor instead of the unspeakable victim that I had become. Thank you Ren for the peace that I am feeling more and more often these days. ❤

He is not gonna blow up even if he deserves it so much. I can tell you why and the reason is because he insists on Rapping. That´s why. He is a normal rapper but he is a top tier singer and composer. However this kind of music makes him happy and he doesn´t care about anything else.
@SandyNoblitt4 ай бұрын
@GeorgeCardoso-mh2ei he does way more than just rapping. If you truly listen to all his music, you would know that he has so many. And how many people do just rap and blow up? Many. That's why we have rappers. But Ren is more than just a rapper. He is a true artist who is mutli-talented. And compared to where he was, he is starting to blow up now. Even here in the States, and I believe he will. Many Americans love him. Other people in the world who are finding him also love him for his realness. So take your negative somewhere else. Nobody wants to hear that. Especially his fans. And trust when I say he has many. He is winning awards, which he totally deserves. If it's not for you, fine, talk yourself to a place that you do. But that man has been through enough and to do all this during his illness, which alone is not easy. I doubt if you went through what he has been through. You could not handle it. As someone like me who lives with pain 24/7 and many others like me, he truly loves this man. Someone understands, stands us, and who sings and tells his stories, which we feel that because we go through it. And he is already blowing up. You don't have to like it. Go somewhere else.
@George_C-e4v4 ай бұрын
@@SandyNoblitt lmao dude are you teaching me about Ren? FFS maybe I didn´t explain myself well, I think Ren is one of the most talented musicians out there right now! I just said that the fact he insists on rapping doesn´t help him a single bit. This type of rap is not even mainstream anymore, not even the biggest current rapper do Boom bap. Ren excels at SINGING, where he is well above the norm and he should mainly sing and leave the rap out. That´s all I said.

Those of us who live with invisible disability thank you so much! You speak to the experience of so many. I have a genetic disorder, but wasn't diagnosed until I was 40. Starting from the age of 8 I have been bounced around doctors, most telling me it was in my head. And while the diagnosis is validation, there are still so many unknowns and still am bounced around doctors. My life will be pain until the end, as it has been all along. I'm so glad you are able to see a light at the end of your tunnel. Blessings!

Have you tried any alternatives to doctors? Shadow work, family constellations etc?

When I discovered Ren, I was no Rap listener. With every new song I listen from him, I always keep telling myself "I'm not gonna like this, right? This is so not my style. I probably won't make it through the end of the video anyway...right?" and then the voice in my head goes quiet. I just sit and listen, eyes fixed on some part of the moving picture, and my brain gets so foggy I don't even know what I'm thinking about, if thinking at all. And then I find myself with a smile on the lips. The voice comes back, shocked and somewhat amused: "huh, you did like it in the end? interesting...but why?" and I can't answer to that clearly. There has to be something in between how genuine Ren displays his emotions, the perfect and somewhat complicated rhymes he chooses, and the rhythms that toggle between simple and complex progressions. I honestly lose my words to explain this for myself. So I don't. I just come back from time to time to this channel and binge watch the videos I have missed, and float into the non-explainability of the joy I feel out of them. I think I have learned the art of simply enjoying through Ren's music.

that's cause he ain't just another rapper or doing rap exclusively. Ren's got top tier writing/lyricism, flow, composing and singing skills. he's one of those rare gems, that we (or the mainstream) will never truly and fully appreciate.

I have been on Ren s patreon from day one, not for the content but to support this fantastik talent. Ren has about 1.4 million subscribers but only about 2500 paying members on his patreon. Come on guys we can do better. Come on support Ren.

Good for you. Not everyone is in a position to support Ren financially. Some people support Ren in other ways. We are all better for supporting his talent the way that we can.

I buy at least 3 copies of every track and album on different platforms. Those residuals will add up. We want our boi to get the recognition that he deserves!

@@iamlpinthe312 🥰 I am not attacking anybody. I am happy for any kind of support to Ren. My opinion and hope is that his Patreon could grow to 10000 or moore, Ren is giving everything to the world and I hope the world will give back to Ren he deserve all that come his way

Joined his Patreon soon after he opened it. Have all 3 versions of his Sick Boi album on cd, as well as the special digital version, which I also 'gifted' for various friends and family members. Also have several copies of several tracks and his first album. I'm a paid subscriber on his Twitch account too and signed up to all his social media accounts, even though I don't really use Tik Tok, Instagram etc. I've favourited everything of his on Spotify and created 2 Ren playlists there. I mainly follow him on KZbin, paying for KZbin Premium, so that I don't miss anything and, of course, I follow as many reactions to his music as I can and give out info to reactors that are new to Ren. Apart from that, I don't do much... lol. Ren's turned into a part-time job! :)

Wow. Ren’s acoustic version always seem more powerful emotionally. The produced are always well done and wonderful but the acoustic version… they always land harder to me personally!
@aura812957 ай бұрын
Agreed! Ren is so musically gifted, I would love to see him do this in a version something like what Kasey Chambers did with her cover of Eminem's "Lose Yourself" which is a very dramatic mix of genres (folk/country, rock, metal). Cross genre opens the doors to potentially spread the message even further.

My theory is that he perfected and loved busking so much. That he seems more emotional doing the "filmed" busking more than the scripted.

Troubles was my favourite cover you did when busking on the streets years ago. Your interpretation of the melody and the tone of your voice made it resonate with so much soul and anguish. But somehow it still kept an element of hope. That's what I still get from this new acoustic version. Soul, anguish, pain, but also elements of beauty, of healing, of understanding and still of hope. Above all the artistry, self-awareness and the courage to keep putting yourself out there. Thank you for what you do, and I hope better days keep coming.

I finally understand the “lord I forgive you” lines. He recognizes that he’s super talented and has a gift that brings so much joy and healing to so many people that all the troubles he’s experienced are worth it. So even though I have expressed resentment for my own experiences, I forgive you because you gave me this gift that is so much bigger than me and actually makes the world better.
