When listening to Ren you gain a higher vocabulary, knowledge in social studies, political science and a bit of Theology thrown in there as well. Ymateb da eto guys. (good reaction again!) Historically the English tried to stop the use of the welsh language in schools by introducing something called the Welsh Not. It was a token that was given to the first child caught speaking welsh that day. That child could give it to another child if they heard them talking welsh. Whoever had the Welsh Not at the end of the school day was given a punishment. This lead to a reduction in welsh speaking from 1800 onward. There are now laws protecting the welsh language, eg rights to be spoken to in welsh, Welsh language schools, websites offering welsh versions and all signs on the roads have welsh first before english.

For me the buried while you breathe line is him basically feeling as if hes dying but trying to live (breathing) like trying to grasp on to life. The weight of illness and wanting to live. Its like an inescapable trap in his own body. The body is stuck but his mind wants to be free.So freaking cool. A rose emerging from pavement cracks for me is also like through pain and suffering there was some ray of hope, like a phoenix rising from the ashes. Dude is so bibilical and thoughtful. A true genius.

I think the part about God dying while he watched from his bed symbolized the loss of faith. In Lost All Faith, he said pain is his shepherd, sword, and shield. The Psalms refer to God as those things. But for Ren, who probably prayed to any God he could think of for relief, God wasn't the ever present help he wished for. Instead, pain was with him every minute. Pain became the thing he could always count on to be there for him. 😢

The number 13 is lucky in Chinese number symbolism and some websites state that it can refer to "assured life". Also, 13 was considered lucky in France before World War I. There is a famous book called "The Thirteen Petaled Rose" discussing the Jewish beliefs about the 13 attributes of God's mercy. Ren says "I begged the sky for mercy, Mercy never came, ..." at least not for 13 years. The rose is a symbol of eternal life, a symbol for martyrs, the botanical symbol for the Virgin Mary. Cathedral stained glass rose windows often depict Mary and Christ, the prophets, martyrs, virtues and vices. "They'll write my eulogy with broken glass" What is Ren saying? He will be immortalized in a stained glass window like a martyr? or there will be a second night of broken glass because he will go out resisting evil when it comes for him?

in regards to the lyrics "tell me how it feels to be buried while you breathe" he's talking about what it feels like to be so sick that it feels like you're dying or are essentially dead already. in the previous verses he's talking about being bedridden, which he was for years. when you're stuck in bed and can't interact with the world that's what it feels like, it feels like you're already more or less buried. but instead of being buried in the ground he was buried in his bed.

There is nothing REN does without meaning. The way he conveys the emotion of a story, experience … literally sucks you into the world he is creating. Intelligent, master of his craft. Nothing is by accident with him, not one note, word, emotion… and the double triple entendre are out of this world! The more I listen the more I find. Example.. 6, 6 followed by 6 & 7 (666 sign of the devil and 7 [in Bible over 700 times!] symbolizing completion of the crucifixon… not to mention god creating the world in 6 days and resting in the 7th.. more symbolism??? With Ren, anything is possible!) Never gets old analyzing his music…

Aww, he came out with a lyric video a little while later. It's awesome! I love the whole CD, but I gotta be honest. Sick Boi 2 was my "least favorite" song on the CD. That doesn't mean I didn't like it, but if I HAD to rank the songs, that is the last one. The best song is Money Game 3, BUT I prefer the video version. The CD version just isn't quite as good. So that being said, I think I have to say Down on the Beat is my total favorite. But I love the whole CD and play it over and over again in my car. I believe Ren said Seven Sins was his personal favorite. But I could be wrong. I was hoping Losing It would be on the CD, because that is my favorite of all time. Back on 74 / Message in a Bottle is probably my 2nd favorite. Then Money Game Part 3, and The Hunger. Love you guys

Ren has suffered from this illness for 13 years and layered the meaning in this song with getting lucky.
